14 Month Surgiversary!
Lisa's Hope replied to Forensikchic's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look so awesome! I'm almost 5 months out on Monday and I find myself fretting because I haven't lost as much weight as some people that were sleeved the same month as I was. I'm very happy with my loss but reading your post gives me hope that I too will reach my goal. Again, you look amazing! -
Valdosta, Georgia??? That is where I'm originally from! Born and raised until I moved to Missouri in 99. Good to see a former neighbor! Who did your surgery? Did you have it in Valdosta?

I had spasms as well! They were very painful. Pain every time I swallowed. They did finally go away about two months out. I completely understand how you feel. It will get better though.

May Sleevers How Much Have You Lost So Far?
Lisa's Hope replied to Preacher's Wife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
May 21st Down 77 pounds. (includes 15 two weeks preop and 62 since surgery) I definitely include preop those two weeks because they were harder than any week I've spent since surgery. -
Got Dehydrated Tonight
Lisa's Hope replied to alsublett's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, try G2 gatoraid mixed in with your water. It is lower in sugar and really helped me alot. I never drank just plain water. Good Luck! -
It does get better but I remember how I felt the first weeks after surgery. I didn't want to get dehydrated so I mixed G2 gatoraid with my Water and it helped so much. I never got dehydrated. Also, like others said, make sure you take an acid reducer. It will help too!! Take care and know it WILL be worth it!

Surgery Tomorrow- So Nervous I Almost Wanna Cancel :(
Lisa's Hope replied to susan0178's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I remember the night before my surgery. I wanted to do the same thing. I wanted to cancel the surgery but I knew that I had to go through with it. I was thinking the same thing. I have a daughter that needs me and what if..what if ...what if?? I'm so happy thatI didn't cancel. It was a little painful right after surgery because I had a hernia repaired but it wasn't bad and after the first few minutes that went away and I was up walking 5 hours after surgery and I came home the next day. The recovery is a little hard but everything gets easier every day that passes by and you are losing weight everyday!! You will be fine and so happy in a few months you won't believe how you look and feel! -

Lisa's Hope replied to k9qt's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So so sorry to hear you are having a hard time. Praying you recover quickly. -
That is great weight loss! I will be 5 months in a week and I'm only at 73 pounds. I have 21 more pounds until Onderland! I want to be there so badly. I don't think I'm losing like most. There are a few peoplethat are already at 100 and was sleeved in May like me! I can't figure it out. I'm happy though with my loss but I wish it would move faster. So glad to hear you are doing so well! I know we couldn't lose this much weight without our sleeves in this amount of time. I do feel blessed.

Six Months And Things Are Changing
Lisa's Hope commented on tmorgan813's blog entry in A funny thing happend while I was loosing weight
You look so awesome!!! I'm 5 months out and have lost only 75 pounds but I'm so thankful for that. I love my "dreamsleever"! -
The flu shot does not have live virus' in them at all! You should not get sick. I would suggest you ask the surgeon but I don't see a problem with it either.

I'm 4 1/2 months out and I'm very happy with my progress of 72 pounds but since I last posted I've lost NADA! I hate stalls so much! I know I'm not supposed to compare myself to others but I know a few people who are ahead of me by 15 to 20 pounds already and I'm just sitting here! It is really frustrating. I just don't know what else to do. I think I'm doing everything right. I'm getting my protein in and drinking water and walking every other day. I guess I need to walk everyday! WHO knows! Just so frustrated! I want the scale to move. At the rate, I will NEVER be in ONEDERLAND! Yes, I know I couldn't have done this without the sleeve for sure. But when you hear of other people losing so much more in the same amount of time it gets discouraging. Sorryto be so negative.... Thanks for listening. I do know I'm blessed to be where I am. Maybe I should just stop complaining. :-/

I Hate Stalls! :{
Lisa's Hope replied to Lisa's Hope's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It definitely is unfair! I'm trying to do the same thing and stop sulking but it is so hard. I see you are in ONDERLAND! So awesome. We started out about the same weight. I will be so happy to be in onderland. I sometimes wonder if I will ever get there. So, you had your surgery in March? I had mine on 5/21. I hope I'm were you are in a few months but I don't see it. -

Yes, you are so right. I'm a member of a group on Facebook "MaySleevers" and it is the same people all the time. The group is very encouraging but there are a few that are having great success! Some that are in the middle like me and then some that are losing at a very slow pace. I will be happy to just lose something. I know the stall will break. It has too. One of the reasons I can't back here is to be able to relate others that have had surgery at all different times. -

Oh no you aren't done losing either! I read today that a VSG'er is still losing well into their second year! You will get to your goal. We will just be celebrating later than some. I have a new attitude today. I'm going to be happy and thankful about how far I have come and happy I didn't have any complications like some have. I'm blessed! Thank you again for all of your encouraging words! -
Congratulations!! You've lost so quickly. Maybe you should share your menu with me because I'm stalling all the time and I was sleeved before you and am only a t 72 pounds lost!

I vent to mine too! Best wishes to you as well. Thank you for the encouragement! I still wish the scales would just move! I really do try to stay positive. I keep thinking about my 1 year anniversary and how much I will have actually have lost by then. I told my husband today that I don't think I will lose any more! -

Lisa's Hope replied to Lisa's Hope's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Men do lose so much faster than we do!! It is so unfair, isn't it?? My life has been stressful as well and I'm wondering if it has something to do with me not losing. I sure hope it moves soon. I read today on FB May Sleevers Page, where one of the ladies hit 100 pounds lost!! I couldn't believe it. I really don't understand but I'm trying to! -

Yes I know. I shouldn't be complaining. I should be thankful. I guess I'm just having a pity party today. When I hear of others losing at a faster rate I get angry I guess. I know you understand and have a great attitude. Thank you! -

Chimera I think you understand exactly how I feel. Thank you for your kind words. I will try to give myself pep talks and see if that helps. I'm trying to up the water and have more protein today and see if that helps. It seems that for most in month 4 the weight loss slows down alot! I've only lost 57 from the date of surgery and 15 was pre op but I include that because that was the hardest two weeks of my life! I just hear of people that have lost more but I know I should be thankful and I know deep down I will get there. Thanks again! -
Nervous Surgery Tomorrow!
Lisa's Hope replied to MommaMeg01's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really you won't need much. You basically stay in your hospital gown for the two days you are in the hospital. Just make sure you wear loose clothing so when you are released you will be comfortable on the ride home. Hospitals provide the necessities like tooth brushes and tooth paste etc. I didn't take much with me at all and I was fine. Good luck and you will do fine! -
Hi Everyone, It has been a very long time since I posted. The last time was 8 days post op. I have been following a sleevers page on facebook but I miss this forum so I'm back to stay. It has been 4 1/2 months since my surgery. I have lost 70 pounds. It seems the weight loss is slowing down a LOT! It gets frustrating but I realize that I wouldn't have able to lose 70 pounds without this surgery. I'm so glad I did it even though I questioned myself right after. I am almost off all of my hypertensive medication which is so awesome because I was on two different ones and have had HBP since I was in my early 20's. I was also a borderline diabetic before the surgery and now my numbers are great! I can't thank God enough for this opportunity and blessing to have this surgery. I did have to pay for it because my insurance sucks and won't pay for hardly anything but I know it was so worth it. I'm a little concerned that my weight loss has slowed. I had hoped that the honeymoon phase would last at least 6 months but it seems for me it hasn't. It is really hard for me to lose 2 pounds a week now. I am eating well and getting in all of my protein first. I do have hypothyroidism due to ablation of my thyroid so that may have something to do with it. I do know that there is no way I would have been able to lose 70 pounds in 4 1/2 months without this surgery. I'm so thankful!! In the last two weeks I was able to walk 2 5k's! Before, that would have never been possible. I was close to 300 pounds. My pre op weight was 297 and now I'm 222! Can't wait to be in onederland! I hope to be there by Christmas! What a wonderful gift that would be. Ok... so everyone have a great day and I definitely am staying on this forum! God bless! Most recent pic with my daughter attached!
