9 Months Out, Goal Reached, Before & After Pic
Lisa's Hope replied to kitsyb's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations! You look great! -
Congratulations!! Seems you are doing awesome! Our numbers are very similar. I started out at 294.4 and now have lost 78 pounds in 5 months. I'm very happy. I did have some issues in the beginning that lasted a couple of months. Pain and stomach spasms. Still, I would do it again. My life and health is so much better.

My insurance wouldn't pay for my surgery either even though I had high blood pressure, borderline diabetes, and was almost 300 pounds. I decided to get online and apply for CareCredit which is high interest but I was approved and I had my surgery and paid 18,000 for it. I now make payments but I had no other choice. I knew I had to have this surgery and I borrowed the money. I'm so glad I did now. I am so much better and so much happier. Hope things turn out for you!! Oh and now I've lost 78 pounds in 5 months and am down to 218.

Omg! Its Been So Long!
Lisa's Hope replied to mariah081803's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations! I can't wait to be in ONEDERLAND! Of course, it is taking me longer. I weighed more..lol I'm working on it though. Only 16 more pounds to onederland. -
Not sure if your surgeon requires a preop diet but I had to do one for two LONNNNGGG weeks! LOL It was the hardest two weeks of my life. I lost 15 pounds just on the pre op. I'm 5 months out and have lost 78 pounds to date. You will do fine and be so happy you did this. I won't lie, the first few months aren't easy but as the weeks go by. It gets easier. Good luck to you.

Gallbladder Removal After Vsg? Is This Common?
Lisa's Hope replied to funinthesun00's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Rapid weight loss can cause your gallbladder to go bad and they have to remove it. I'm 5 months post op and I sure pray I don't have to have it out. I really don't want another surgery. Blah! -
Can Someone Please Try To Answer:-)
Lisa's Hope replied to d9leigh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I say ABSOLUTELY!!! I've lost 77 pounds in 5 months with the sleeve and I personally feel that with gastric bypass you have more of a chance to regain the weight. There is also more malabsorption of vitamins in the intestines that you don't have with the sleeve. You still need to take vitamins but I believe the sleeve to be safer and better than the risks from gastric bypass. You still have to work the sleeve. Eat right, exercise, protein first, and drink water. I still have 64 pounds to go but I know I will get there! -

5 Month Surgversary Pics, Down 77 Pounds.
Lisa's Hope replied to Lisa's Hope's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thank you! Yes, I had left side pain and man was it hard!! I thought something was wrong. Even had a CT scan to see if anything would show why it was hurting. It didn't. So, I just started putting ice and a heating pad on there every chance I got. It seemed to get worse with exercise so I didn't move around alot when it was hurting. It did finally go away about 2 to 2 1/2 months out. There is hope... hang in there. -

I'm in South Central Missouri. Ste. Genevieve, which is an hour south of St. Louis. I was sleeved on May 21st by Dr. Richard Follwell at Des Peres hospital in St. Louis. I'm doing great. Had some issues with stomach spasms and side pain in the beginning but now I'm fine. -

Hi, I actually hit a stall as well, I think. I try to get in at least 60 to 80 grams of protein. I usually don't eat carbs if I can help it and I don't count calories. I think if I were counting them I would be getting between 600 to 1000 a day. Somewhere in between. I hope for the both of us we break our stall soon!! I know people who have lost 100 pounds since May. I try not to compare myself but I do. -

Do You Regret Your Sleeve?
Lisa's Hope replied to janda927's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stephanie so sorry to hear you had all of these problems. I know it must be the hardest thing ever! I was so worried about a leak but so far have been so blessed. I know this could happen to anyone. I wish there wasn't a risk of this kind of complication. Something they could do to prevent it. But there isn't. You are so beautiful and such have a such a great outlook on what has happened to you. I pray for your full recovery!! -

Thank you Kristi! I've done pretty well so far. I did have some stomach spasms and left side pain for about two months after surgery but all of it was so worth it!! I still have a lot to lose but I feel awesome. So much better than before surgery. You will be able to for sure. The sleeve is the greatest tool. I feel so blessed!! Thank you about the hair. I did have to have 4 inches cut off because it was coming out so bad but now the hair loss is slowing down. -
My Journey Through Photos
Lisa's Hope replied to sfernandez2828's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You look beautiful! I hope I can lose that much in 10 months. You were only 14 pounds heavier than I was. Gives me hope!!! Can you share your eating habits? Seems I'm on a stall every few pounds. I've started increasing my protein and water to see if that helps. I find that I'm not eating enough calories in a day. -
I have 60 or so more to lose. I've lost 76 pounds so far since 5/21/12. It is getting so hard to lose now! I will lose a couple of pounds and stall. It is discouraging but I'm trying really hard to stay motivated. I expected it to be hard when I get 30 pounds from goal but now? :/
-
You will be on the losers bench in no time! Congratulations!
-
Thank you. I guess I'm just impatient. My weight loss seems to be slowing down and I compare myself to others which I shouldn't do! Reaching Onderland will be a happy day for me!! My goal is to reach before Christmas... but not sure that will happen.
