Blood Clot Prevention Shots
Lisa's Hope replied to LifeBackNye7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sent home with injections for two full weeks. My BMI was 47. I had no idea I was going to have to do them until I was released. -
Stupid insurance, I'm doing it anyway!
Lisa's Hope replied to Yaya's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sorry your insurance is giving you the run around. Mine wouldn't pay for it either. I just commented on another post about this. I'm self pay and am still making payments. No regrets! Good for you and good luck! -
Don't feel bad. Just keep on trying to get approved no matter how long it takes. My insurance denied it out right and said it was one of their exclusions. I had no choice but to borrow the money and self pay for the surgery myself. I meant I was going to do this no matter what. I'm still making payments but don't regret it at all. So, keep trying. Don't give up. I think you will get approved. Even with me being self pay, I still had to jump through a lot of hoops to get the surgery. It is just a process and sometimes a looonnng process. Good Luck!

I'm 10 months out and I can tell it is getting really hard to keep losing. I just had my gall bladder removed last Thursday and it wasn't a breeze like everyone has been telling me. Painful and I gained 3 pounds in the hospital and I know it was from fluids because I ate nothing! Thing is, now I should be able to eat without the pain I was feeling before. I know I should stick to low fat but with the sleeve it is better with high protein in order to keep the weight coming off. I am 28 pounds from goal and I want to lose the rest of it. I think I should start tracking as well. I've found that I'm craving ice cream again!!! ugghhhh! I hate that! Ice cream is one of my demon foods!! It is so easy and comforting and slides right on down. We all still have to work at this no matter what. Still, I am so grateful for this blessing and we all have come such a long way. Thank God for this forum. It helps me so much to read and log in everyday.

I had to do a full 14 days and I have to say it was the hardest two weeks of my life!! All liquid protein. I lost 15 pounds before surgery. So hard.

Dehydration long term & dizziness anyone?
Lisa's Hope replied to sirensiren's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I was going to suggest G2 Gatorade. I've actually been drinking this since right after my sleeve surgery. Seems to keep me hydrated without all the sugar. Glad you have solved the issue. I've noticed that a lot of vets are complaining about dizziness. My HR has been low at times too. I recently had gall bladder surgery and everyone was freaking out because my HR was 48 during the operation. I've been on beta blockers for a very long time and I guess it is time to try to get off of them. I have some issues with PVC's (premature ventricular contractions) which has been diagnosed as benign and that is why I'm still taking the beta blockers. It is kind of scary when your HR goes that low. I've also had problems with anesthesia in the past. So, I'm hoping when I get all of that out of my system, my HR will improve. -
9 1/2 months out and Gall Bladder surgery :(
Lisa's Hope posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have an appointment on Monday with my surgeon to talk about getting my gall bladder removed. Ugghhh.. not happy about this at all. I've been having these awful painful attacks for a few months now but nothing like yesterday. It was so intense and hurt so bad. The best way I can describe it is a leg cramp in your throat, chest, stomach , right side and then back. Oh.. it hurt!! I was just praying it would go away. I've not been nauseous though. That right there is a blessing. I went to the ER on Feb 18 and was told I had sludge in my gall bladder but they couldn't find stones but also they couldn't see very well. So today I called my PCP and she suggested I call my surgeon and see if he wants to take it out. After talking to the nurse, she said that most likely he will and made me an appointment for Monday. She also said it is pretty normal after wls to have this done. I really don't want to though!!! I never wanted to go through another surgery! So friends if any of you have had your gall bladder out post sleeve, please let me hear your experience. It will help me so much!! Thanks !!! -
Ten Months and 111 pounds down. No longer Obese! Yay. Pics
Lisa's Hope posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hey everyone, I'm so happy today. I am finally out of the obese category! As of today, I am officially just overweight. My BMI has come down from 47 to 29!!! I really never thought I would make it this far! I'm so happy and thankful again to God for this blessing. I prayed so long for him to release me from the fat prison I was in. I say this a lot when I post. I know this wouldn't be possible without Him. On another note, I'm having gallbladder surgery on Thursday. BLAH!! I will be glad when that is over. I guess losing so much weight so fast burns up the thing!! I will post after to let everyone know how I'm doing! Pics below. I went to the beach this past week and I was very brave to have my pic taken on the beach. Well, I wore shorts too! Well it is just a tiny pic! -

Lisa's Hope replied to Lisa's Hope's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No,I wasn't prescribed any medication at all. I now have a date to have it removed. Saw my surgeon on Monday. He wanted to take it out today!! I asked if we could wait until 28th. He said yes, but be careful and eat as low fat as I can. Not looking forward to but I'm ready to get this done. Stay with the meds or this will surely happen. It is part of losing weight rapidly and also eating the eggs, cheese, and meat we are told to eat to get our Protein. -
Wow.. this is awesome! Post some recent pics! You are stopping aren't you? Do you want to lose anymore?

I know you are ready to get the band off. From what I've heard the band makes you throw up a lot! Good luck and God bless! Do you have to heal from getting the band off then get sleeved?

Oh my goodness! I know you are!! That is crazy. I was self pay too and I asked my surgeon to take out my gall bladder when I had surgery and he didn't either. Now I have to have it out. But wow, yours so close to your sleeve! So sorry for you. My insurance should pay for it I hope since it has been 9 months. Let me know how your Dr's appointment goes. -

Please let me know how it goes. Good luck and I know you will do fine. It is scary though just because it is another surgery! How long have you been having symptoms and what are they? I'm not nauseous but have insane pain in the chest and right side and back. Also chills and sweats. Ahh.. I will be glad when it's over. I know you will as well. -
Pain in chest
Lisa's Hope replied to TropicalGirl1205's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It is normal. I had the same exact thing. It was very painful. It was like every time I swallowed, I had a spasm. It will take a few weeks but it will subside. Feel better and take care. It gets better everyday. -

Thanks everyone for your responses. Reading your experiences is helping me a lot. I know I have to have it out. I guess I'm just so concerned because my brother had such a hard time when he got his out. He almost died, but he waited way too long. I have to rely on my faith and get through this. I know I will if God sees fit that I should. Thanks again. -

Lisa's Hope replied to Lisa's Hope's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, it isn't too soon. I think some people have problems way before. If you are having pain it is most likely the gall bladder. I sure wish I didn't have to have surgery again but I am really tired of this pain. -

Lisa's Hope replied to Lisa's Hope's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No I didn't. I've read where some people do take meds after surgery to prevent the gall bladder from going bad. I'm not happy, he didn't give me meds either. I will certainly asked about that to. Even though, it is too late. -

Thank you so much for sharing your story. Seems you had a nightmare of a time! So glad you recovered so well. Sounds horrible. I've been lucky so far not to have the nausea. When they did the ultrasound, they could only see sludge but the pain I had yesterday was crazy! I know I need to get it out. My post is a little misleading. My consult is on Monday, then I will get a date for surgery. I am to go on my vacation on the 15th. I'm so afraid I may have a problem while gone. I hope not! Thanks again! I will surely let you guys know my surgery date and outcome.
