Finally Got An Answer Regarding My Wait
Kiki Von Moonshine posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So I called the secretary, and she told me everyone had to wait six months before surgery. I figured that, so it helped getting a "definite" answer or just to have an idea. Still counting down the days until my consultation. I'm excited. Five more days. -

When I spoke to my insurance company they said its covered if it was a medical necessity. So if there are no comorbidies what would the doctor put? Im sure she can make something nice to put on it. -

Yea, I called my insurance three times. In a nutshell I have to go to the doctor and depending on my "necessity" for the surgery then I would know. Its crazy. I would assume something like this would be in writing. -

Do you think if I call and speak with one of the women that answer the phones at the desk she will be able to tell me how long my wait time will be based on insurance or is that a doctors call? -

Kiki Von Moonshine posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm sure the same as before just less. My diet consists mainly of soy, or non soy meat alternatives with a carb side, and some veggies. Not as much as I should have but yea.. I do eat diary. I just can't shake cheese and yogurt. So what are you eating? -

Any Sleever's from NY?

What date did you start Lilu? How long did Affinity have you wait? I was going to go with Affinity when I first needed to pick but Methodist didn't accept it, and at the time I was having my son and that was the hospital I was going to. They treated me good. -

Could I Be Added On To A Relatives Insurance?
Kiki Von Moonshine posted a topic in Insurance & Financing
Okay, so you know Im counting down until I get to see my surgeon. I have also thought about the possibility of not being approved or a long weight time with my insurance. I have an aunt that has good insurance, and was wondering if I wanted to switch to hers (assuming they allowed the surgery of course) how long would I have to be insured with her insurance to be approved? Would it be a wait time? Would I even be able to be on hers? I do not know how insurance works. Btw shes insured via her job. Is it only a spouse thing? Thanks. -
Sleeve And Gallbaldder
Kiki Von Moonshine replied to chyna86's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I made a post similar to this. Try searching gallbladder on here. It happens when the weight loss is rapid WLS or not. There is a percentage of how many people usually need to have it removed. I believe it's 50 percent for RNY, not sure for sleevers. Also there is something you can take to help prevent it. Although it is not guaranteed. I also asked my doctor if you can live without it comfortably, and she said yes. However if I was given the choice for it to be removed from the beginning I'd say no, take the pills for the one year, and gross my fingers. G'LUCK. -

I know of the doctor. Im just trying to see if I can have an idea of wait time. My insurance isn't telling me anything. They don't know squat. They said its up to the doctor to determine the wait time etc. -

I'm in Brooklyn, waiting for my consult. I tried calling my insurance (Health Plus) to see if they could tell me how long weight management would be. No avail. -
Question For People Who Not Insured Through Their Job.
Kiki Von Moonshine posted a topic in Insurance & Financing
I'd like to know how much is insurance monthly for a person with one or two people? I tried googling it, and have came up with so many different answers and usually the companies want you to call and speak with them. They ask you questions first, instead of the straight answer. I want to know because I'm still waiting to see the doctor towards the end of the month, and I am not sure how long the wait for surgery might be with my current insurance, but I have an idea it will be six months, could be a year. I currently have a Health Plus. The last figure I saw online was something like 400 a month for one person, or something like that. -

No 401K. I think I'll just wait and find out. I called insurance, gave them CPT code and was told it was covered. We shall see. Thanks everyone. -
Is It Time For A Tummy Tuck?
Kiki Von Moonshine replied to Kasie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Someone on another site had such an amazing tummy after working out. You would have thought it was a tummy tuck. She had before and after photos including her some extra skin, and exercise alone made it look outstanding, and she's an older woman. I'm sure you are doing all you can do to work on it and not trying to knock down the idea, but try the exercise route first, its way cheaper. If you like, I can ask her what exactly she did. -
Did Everyone Here Go On A Liquid Diet Before Surgery?
Kiki Von Moonshine posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know its to make the liver less fatty, but do they do an xray or sonogram of the liver prior to telling you to go on a liquid diet? I have seen some that didn't go on a liquid diet, and some that have only gone on a liquid diet for a week, however the average I have seen is two weeks. Thanks. -
What Are The Main Reasons People Get Denied Approval?
Kiki Von Moonshine posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm curious. I am starting the process on the 31st. I called my insurance today to see if the sleeve was covered and they said it is if its a medical necessity. So that got me thinking "Hmmm.." so.. I would like to know what are the reasons most people get denied approval? I have no comorbities, but my BMI qualifies me. Thanks a bunch.
