Why Do People Think Lap Band Is The "easy" Way!?
Lori Voss Green replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you all for the comments. I just felt so frustrated reading what was on Facebook and I had to vent....and I knew everyone here would understand!!! -
Ready To Be Banded But A Little Scared....
Lori Voss Green replied to DarlinDede's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@DarlinDede...oh yeah, my Mom went on and on before surgery about how I shouldn't do it.....people die from it....I'm gonna die from it...on and on. I tried to educate her to no avail. I finally gave up, told her I'd die staying obese, and left it at that. -
I am also seeing many of my co-workers getting banded as well. Makes me proud that BCBSIL is making it easier for all of us!

Are Sugar Free Carbonated Drinks Okay?
Lori Voss Green replied to FernandinaGin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was told no carbonated drinks. It was hard for me, not the bubbly part, but the caffeine. I thought I would die. I get horrible migraine when I don't have caffeine, and I am NOT a coffee/tea drinker. Once I found Crystal Light Energy, which has caffeine, I was fine. I gave up pop (or soda as some call it) and haven't looked back! -
Struggling With Meal Plans
Lori Voss Green replied to sweetsam2005's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sam, I am a very picky eater too. I see a lot of people post here about eating tuna or chicken salad or salmon or eggs and it makes my stomach turn. They are just not foods I can do. I am also having a hard time finding foods to eat. I am 6 1/2 weeks post so not far ahead of you. I have grown sick of cottage cheese. I have oatmeal every morning for breakfast, which I am thankfully not sick of. Yoplait Light yogurt is something I still like. For lunch and dinner though, I find myself struggling. I eat chili a lot to be honest, although I know I will soon grow sick of it. I am actually on he forum right now trying to get some new food ideas. -
I have BCBS of IL and I work for BCBS of IL. The criteria to be approved is much easier than it has been in the past. We are seeing a lot of people getting approved very quickly. GOOD LUCK!!

Ready To Be Banded But A Little Scared....
Lori Voss Green replied to DarlinDede's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I also can't help with the pregnancy questions, but I do want to wish you the best of luck! I am 6 1/2 weeks post op. I am glad to hear your husband is supportive. Support is a huge part of it. I have family and friends who are supportive, but I also have a Mother who is negative about everything. Anytime the slightest thing is wrong with me, she thinks it's the band. I have felt under the weather the last day or so, and she is convinced "that thing in my stomach is infected." So yeah, the support is important. Good luck with your journey and be sure to stick around here....this place is a huge blessing! -
I guess I almost expected to not feel that hungry right after a fill. OMG it's been horrible. Dr told me I could have things back today like cottage cheese, oatmeal, etc.....soft foods. I just had my hubby get me some oatmeal. I think this is the hungriest I have felt since getting the band. One more thing to get used to I guess!!

Scale. Is This Possible?
Lori Voss Green replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't let the scale moving up and down frustrate me. I was actually discussing it with my dr yesterday....how I use it to motivate me but not discourage me. -
Scale. Is This Possible?

I weigh the same time every day, right after I get up for work. Whatever the cause, I'll just cross my fingers that those 3.9 lbs stay gone! LOL -
Survived My 1St Fill, But I'm A Bit Annoyed
Lori Voss Green replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
LMAO That is too funny! Seriously, as I said, I think I have seen ONE other person with the same surgeon! -
Mine is sore as well, but I expected that since the port site has been sore anyway. I am thankful that I am not feeling nauseous at all, just confused by the whole other sick feeling.

Survived My 1St Fill, But I'm A Bit Annoyed
Lori Voss Green replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
visionary444........hey, awesome to see someone with the same dr!! Honestly, I don't even know if I have spoken to this one before when I have called in. Usually I get one of the nurses who answer. Karen is who I usually speak to, and she is AMAZING! I had a scare a few days before surgery with an abnormal EKG. She would call me daily (and even after hours...7 pm and such at night) to see how I was doing. She was on vacation the day of my surgery, but she told me when I came for my 1 week follow up that she was thinking about me the whole day. Everyone (except the one today) has been awesome there. Today though...yeah....she really bothered me. I honestly could not figure out why it seemed to be such an odd thing for me to be asking. -
Survived My 1St Fill, But I'm A Bit Annoyed

The nurse practioner was discussing it with me, we just didn't talk about what she finally put in. It was the receptionist when I called back who just seemed annoyed that I wanted to know. -
Survived My 1St Fill, But I'm A Bit Annoyed
Lori Voss Green replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It was the receptionist who made the comment, but I was really taken back by it. I mean, obviously I had a reason for wanting to know or I wouldn't have called back. -
I was not told I need to do anything differently the day of my 1st fill, but I thought I would check. Is there any kind of preparation? Eating less, not eating before, etc?

1St Fill Tomorrow, So I'm Wondering...
Lori Voss Green replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think what I'll do is call his office as soon as they open. My appointment isn't until 3 pm, so if he wants me to not eat/drink, I will have time to adjust accordingly. -
1St Fill Tomorrow, So I'm Wondering...
Lori Voss Green replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks! Yeah, they told me the liquids for 24 hours then mushies, but nothing about the day of the fill so I wasn't sure. I'll stop drinking an hour before I leave work.....it's another hour to my doctor's office....so that will give me 2 hours. Thanks again! -
I am getting my first fill on Thursday. I really have no clue what to expect. Will I really notice a difference afterwards?
-
Thanks! I am so ready to get to that!
-
I hope it helps with that! Some days I have to remind myself to eat, but some days I feel constantly hungry.

How Do You Move On After Messing Up???
Lori Voss Green posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am just over 4 weeks post op. I have been doing really good with what I eat. Tonight....oh tonight....I had messed up big time. Depression has kicked in big time for me. The kid wanted pizza. I caved and ordered Pizza Hut. For dinner I had 2 pieces of thin crust with pepperoni, green peppers, and onions. I feel horrible physically and, far worse, emotionally. Eating to soothe depression. Old habit. Now I am even more depressed. Anyone been there? How do you move on from this feeling of failure and disgust? -

Thank you all so much. I really do appreciate the support. -
Does anyone here buy/eat Morning Star meatless products? I have had a few friends suggest them to me. I decided to pick up a couple things at the grocery store today, but I am curious if anyone else eats it. Is it tasty? Is it really a better choice?

I have medication for depression. Today has just been an unusually bad day. No excuse to do what I did though, I know that.
