  2. Set small goals for yourself. I think walking now is an excellent idea. I haven't been able to walk much because of my knees and back but I know after the surgery I'm going to tear the road up!!! When is your date?

My surgeon has me on antibx because I have bacteria in my stomach. I also have to take one antbx pill the day before my surgery. However, I agree check with your surgeon.

May 17Th Is The Big Day

Okay my fellow pre and post Sleevers! I have a date. May 17, 2012 I get reborned into this world. Right now my head is spinning and unfortunately I have so much stress in my life right now I can't actually sit down and wrap my arms totally around what is about to happen. I do know that I have been pushing along. Getting my tests performed and visiting doctors. I had my transnasal endoscopy yesterday. Whew! I didn't have any anesthesia and it wasn't like anything I have ever experienced before in my life. The tube they inserted through my nose and down my throat was no fun. I'm trying to remove the memory from my mind. LOL I survived it so it's behind me now. I still need to get my antibiotic to take at least 10 days before the surgery becasue of bacteria in my stomach. It isn't covered by my insurace so the drug is $56.00 dollars. I can't get it until next week. (Sigh!) I want to start getting my supplies for the first couple of weeks but of course financially I can't do that yet. So it's like I'm happy and sad at the same time. *I keep praying and telling myself, "And This Too Shall Pass"! I don't have to do a Pre-Op diet so I guess I'm lucky. However I have been changing my habits to prepare for my journey. I have to do clear liquids the day before and then NPO after midnight. I did lose 5lbs. At my consultation I was 448.3. Yesterday I was 445.3. This is just from me changing how I eat and drink. I do not eat and drink at the same time. I chew my food until it is mush in my mouth I eat my protein first and then veggies I stop eating when I fill satisfied. (Not full just satisfied.) No grazing. Sip, Sip, Sip wait. I take little sips instead of big gulps. I'm trying hard not to use straws. I haven't had any alcoholic beverages. (I might this weekend.) I will keep you folks posted. Hugs

    Preop Diets

My BMI is 79 and I don't have a Pre-Op Diet. The day before I am on Clear Liquids and NPO MidNight. I do have to get a Vena Cava Filter placed in my leg two days before the surgery. This is done in Same Day Surgery.

    Surgeries

Hi Everyone, I started my journey on March 19. I was at my wits end with being in pain and constantly gaining and losing the same 10lbs. I realized I needed help so I asked my NUT to refer me to a bariatric surgeon. I like Dr. Nussbaum and I felt confident during our consultation. The next week I had taken all of my consults. I didn't want to waste any time. LOL I was hoping to get sleeved the end of April but that was cutting it close. I'm actually happy my date is May 17 it gives me time to accept it and become comfortable. Right now I'm an emotinal mess! I keep telling myself that I'm saving my life and this is so true. I'm having my surgery at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, NJ. Dr. Michael Nussbaum is my Surgeon he is in Livingston, NJ.

To Tell Or Not To Tell?

I started telling everyone but now I wish I was selective. I've been pretty open with those I've told. I find myself defendig my deicision to those who think I could have done it the good Old Fashion way. I shouldn't feel like I have to defend my decision. I usually say I'm saving my LIFE!! or I was headed to a life in a wheelchair!! Ugh!
  13. Congrats! I am May 17!!! Does anyone have to get a filter inserted two days before?

  16. I have a date!! May 17th is my new Birthday!

  17. I'm approved! I'm waiting on my date.

  18. Everything is done. Now I wait for the insurance company approval letter. I have my endoscopy scheduled for 4/18/12. When I get my date I will have a vena cava filter inserted probably on Tuesday and then the surgery on Thurday. This is what the girl in the office told me who coordinates your paperwork. So I'm excited and nervous. I'm excited because I'm getting my life back. I'm nervous becasue I want to do everything correctly and don't want to mess up. I had my sleep study reviewed today and found out I have severe sleep apnea! Who Knew?! I have to use a cpap machine. I'm not happy! However, I know once I lose weight it will clear it up! Yayy!! I praying I get my date before the end of the week.

    Out Of Pocket Costs

I had $15 copays for my Pulmonary and Cardiology consult. I didn't have to pay for my psych consult, labwork, sleep study and doppler study. (I work for the hospital and making sure I do everything in network or at the hospital.) My deductible is $300. and the insurance company will pay 80%. All my hospital stuff is covered 100%. I hope the doctor bills me for the deductible but I guess I should make sure I have the $300 just in case. I'm hoping to get a date in two weeks after my endoscopy on the 18th.

    Fab 40's shout out

Hello Folks! I am 42 yrs old. I will be 43 in October. I have two wonderful boys ages 15 and 18. I've completed all my consults. (Psych, Pulmonary, Cardiology, Nutritionist, doppler study, sleep study and bloodwork) I have my endoscopy scheduled for the 18th. The bloodwork showed I have bacteria in my stomach and the doc wants me to take antbx put I'm allergic. The office hasn't gotten back to me. I pray this doesn't delay my surgery. I'm hoping to be sleeved in April. My son graduates in June and I'm praying I will have lost enough to proudly stand and attend the ceremony without pain.
