Had an allergic reaction last night to we don't know what. Stuck again 1 more night.
-
Did you not have it when you had the surgery? My dr did it during my wls. (had no idea it was even there let alone it was severe) I don't feel as though it added much more discomfort to the surgery, most of my pain came from the incision my stomach was removed from. Are they doing the stent in your stomach? I just got one Friday as I have a leak. It's not so terrible (:
-
Have no fear, leaks are repairable! If anything seems wrong though stay persistent and drink those fluids for a ct scan! My dr put a stent in Friday and I scared myself something HORRIBLE after reading the forums about people with them. It's not that bad. It's uncomfortable but not unbearable and gets better every day (: I'm also blessed to have the dr I do who listens wonderfully and is tremendously supportive and genuinely cares!!!

Still have discomfort. It's not like crazy pain like when I woke up from the stent, but each day gets a little better. I'm really nervous about doing my IV stuff at home, but the nurses are 24/7 and the bosses are really nice. (: I'm staying at my moms and she's taking off work to help the next couple weeks until they take the stent out. (I live with my Grandmom and fiancé, and my grandmother would be a disaster if I went back on IV). The nice thing is most will be at night and the machine is real small anyway so I can backpack it and go out and do things like sit poolside or work on my Casper bottom lol! I just can't wait till this nightmare is over with and I can eat somewhat normally again, I'm back on sf Clear liquids after 2 weeks of not eating. Thank god they're sending me home with TPN, my throat still hurts from the dialation (like I have strep or something, not horribly horribly) and I am having a hard time getting liquids in. They just started me on a drinkable acid coater, ontop of max proteomics (protonics?) to help stop the acid from backing to my throat so much. #1 thing I'm looking forward to? UNINTERRUPTED SLEEP!! hahaha they wake me up every 2-3 hours between sugar monitoring, vitals, and meds. (and all these liquids make me pee more than an old man!) I keep thinking positive and praying. Im going through hell now, but that's 99 other surgeries I know will go ok, and one day it will be a distant memory and I'll look and feel fab (: and I know if it doesn't work there's options. (unfortunately one is convert to bypass, which is my last resort, I really don't want that.

Going home tomorrow. They're sending me home with my picc line to continue my IV food, nausea meds, and possibly an antibiotic
-
Stent blocked the leak! now it needs to heal and get this stupid stent out!!
-
Rough morning, had a leak test this morning. Pain and nausea meds should have been taken before not after lol helped tremendously after though, feeling much better. Infectious disease dr said my saliva gland swelling is completely gone and I'll be off my antibiotic bags (I get 2 kinds, 2 or 3x a day) in 48-72 hours. Surgeon said he's waiting for the official thumbs up from radiology but it looks like the stent fixed the leak (: I'll know officially in a few hours

Has Anyone Ever Regretted Having Surgery? Be Honest?

If your dr won't listen, you need a new one. You pay him, he should be listening!!! I hate people like that, it's ignorant, disrespectful, and shameful that he can do something like for a living then act like that. I count my blessings that I have an amazing dr who cares so much -

Yes thank God -
Surgeon gave me a hug today when he checked up on me. When the dr that put the stent in came, he told me he was avoiding my room. He has a son a year younger than me and felt terrible because of the pain I was in yesterday, and he woke up 2x thinking about me last night. Seeing me doing better and even smiling he said he would write me a letter of recommendation for the marines lol apparently the stent is bigger than my tummy.
-
Stent got put in yesterday. Woke up in the worst pain I've ever had. Because of the placement, the flap at the top of my stomach is open so LOTS of reflux. With pain, nausea, and acid meds muchhhh better today. They said 24-48 hours for it to subside while it expands to my tummy wall. Maybe I'll get some sleep tonight, hiccups 4x last night and 1x this morning didn't help! Lol

Chrissy- I was having a hard time getting food in let alone keeping it down. Thought I had severe acid as the meds stopped working. I ran out and went in to get a new script and felt like I was going to pass out walking from the chair to the counter and dr sent me to the er as I had trouble breathing. They thought heart and found nothing and sent me home. 2 days later I was feeling the same and the office had me admitted. Took em 6 days to finally do another ct scan (I got sick while I was here, face blew up with a Salvatory gland infection and I don't remember most of last week) and voila. Luckily it's verrrrry tiny, so they put a stent in yesterday that they'll take out when the leak heals -

I'm with you. I have a leak and haven't been allowed ANYTHING to eat or drink since last Friday and won't till atleast Monday (on IV stuff for nutrients). Even the hospital food smells glorious. But I know it's only temporary, we will get through this, and when we meet goal we'll think back on how simple this was and how happy we'll be. Hang in there! -
Thinking about it, only surgical site pain was the one he pulled my tummy out of. Barely even feel the 4 other little ones. Oh and gas was a bbbbbbbbbbbbb, not like I'm gain, just uncomfortable, WALK WALK WALK it helped so much!!!! Ohhhh and when you can swim again... That helps me feel like a million bucks cause everything feels lifted lol
-
Hope everything goes great today! I remember being loopy right after and having tightness (not really pain, they also did a bonus severe hiatal hernia repair we didn't know I had!) for about an hour I guess. They brought me up to my room (don't even remember that ride) and then I was joking and talking laying in bed with my mom and fiancé. They had me up about 6 hours after surgery walked the corridor (it's a large rectangle floor with nurses wings in the middle) 2x. Slept and did up to 10 laps at a time the next day! The floor charge said I was "a role patient" lol I felt fantastic after. And when the weight starts sliding off oh man you will feel like a million bucks

Anyone have a stint put in it? 7 weeks out tomorrow and stint being put in Thursday, I'm scared
-
Not yet. The dr wants tomorrow but if they have to order the thing it may be Friday.
-
I had crazy nausea, couldn't get much in and vomited.
-
Yeah, I've had a really rough time after my surgery. I had a splenic infarcture and when the pain stopped I was still having crazy nausea then last week I kept throwing up food and couldnt get much in. 3 weeks ago it wasn't there when they found the spleen thing, we thipnk it may have been coughing up stuff cause it was hard and I doubled over in a LOT of stomach pain after. The leak luckily is EXTREMELYYYYYYY small
-
Thank you all (: Devon: no. I didn't originally have a leak. I know quite a few people who have done the surgery and not one of them had any complications at all. Just lucky I am I guess. don't be worried, it's extremely rare (and not the surgeons fault, it wasn't there 3 weeks ago). Think of it this way, you know someone with a complication so youll be the other 99 that are ok lol
-
I have a leak. Stint goes in Thursday, in the hospital til at least next Monday.
-
Really prissy mz what happened? I'm so done n exhausted of dry heaving and drugs not working n making me sick. I just want an applesauce or juice. No ingestion till Monday bag pccline vitamins making me sick
-
Came up clear. They had me so a-- backwards I didn't know up from down for 2 day. My skin is yellow, right side of my face blew up with infection (going down though). Trying for ANOTHER ct scan if I can get past this god awful nausea

Still can't. So far they think mumps or gall bladder. MRI today to find out. Scared I hope they doubt pull out staples ):
