RawrrAshleex3 replied to Babysteppin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly, I dont think I could have gotten through the past month or so if it weren't for jasleeve, between her story being relative and her support be it sleeve related or not. It shows how much this site can really help!!!! -
If You Had The Choice - Would You Do It Again?
RawrrAshleex3 replied to Babysteppin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 months 4 days post op. Honestly, I 100% regret it right now. I've spent a decent amount of time over 5 stays in the hospital. Spleen complication, white cell count/enzymes sky rocketed, salvatory infection and my face blew up, jaundice, leak, stent to fix the leak, gall bladder removal, stent complication. Not trying to scare you, but I wish I had not blown off complications as something that would never happen to me. There were many days I don't remember, and many nights I slept with my face in a bucket wishing I would just die already, not even caring that I'm only 25. Feeling horrible for what my fiancé family and friends had to watch/go through. I never realized how much this surgery effects others as well until I was sick as a dog, one test after another, and drs shrugging their shoulders. Yeah, I'm 54# down, but I wish I just tried 1 more time to just watch my diet and exorcize. I was pretty healthy per med standards for my weight (246). Now I can't stand for a minute or 2 without being exhausted. I stand up and things go fuzzy for a few seconds. I'm still primarily on full liquids, and can't seem to quench my thirst. My advice is make sure you're truly ready. Try to watch your diet and exorsize, the surgery is not a magic pull, you still have to do it afterward anyway. I didn't take it seriously enough, make sure you do and you're prepared mentally for it. If it does by any chance, most importantly, cry if you have to, scream if you have to, but look towards the future. That's what keeps me going, I know one day I'll look back and go d*mn, I'm a survivor, but I'm doing d*mn good!!! Even in the beginning most people have a "buyers remorse" and it'll help you through that too. We're all the little engine that could -
Thank you (: Im already on a PPI 40mg/day, maybe it's not enough? Also wondering if maybe its that my esophogas flap doesn't close all the way since my stent stretched things and since where the leak was, it held it open for 5 weeks and by the end dug into it, I'll have to ask my dr.

3 months out, and the "natural" taste (spit and stuff I guess?) tastes like vomit. I'm not throwing up, but my bm have been really loose. (sorry!!) bit of background, I had a leak, stent to fix it was removed about 2 weeks ago. I'm on primarily liquids but a touch of mushies (experimenting, even though I'm only supposed to be on full liquids again but I'm legit hungry tummy grumble and all!). Average day= vitamin water xxx, a freezer pop, 1/2 a cup sf pudding, and a tbs or 2 thoroughly chewed to liquod ground beef. I "eat" slow enough and wait my 30 mins before/after. I get my 3oz of liquid in per hour (as per drs order) and sometimes more, can't seem to quench the thirst. What's going on? I'm afraid of another complication, it's just been one after the other

Feling Like Crap 1Month Post Surgery
RawrrAshleex3 replied to marie_b's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ask for zofran for nausea, dissolvable and works wonders! Remember SIP not gulp, and chew to liquid. Try changing up the temp of things, sometimes that helps. If you're still throwing things up, talk to your dr about redoing the swallow test. About 2 months out they found a leak in me (tiny though! And not to scare you sorry) you'd know though, I got violently sick, dry heaving when there wasn't even anything in me. -
Happier update!!! So they screwed up and scheduled me for an endo not a stent removal, gi dr refused as its been 4 weeks, minimum of 6 needed. Weelllllllll I was so nauseas and dry heaving all night, ended up BACK in the hospital. Stent shifted!. While the drs argued about taking it out for a few days I started spiking fevers and got sick. They thought it was my picc line so they took it out, sent the end to the lab, and out another in my left arm. Gi dr finally took it out and come to find out, it shifted and dug into my esophagus!! So that's probably why I got sick!!! They still have me on 2 Hugh dose antibiotics and an anti fungal IV just incase. And best news of all, LEAK HEALED!!!!!!!!!!!!! Next step: baby steps to eating with my raw and collausally sore throat to blow this Popsicle stand!

Spleen Complication?

Happy it's not horrible enough to remove (: my pain only lasted about a week, hope. Yours goes away just as fast! -
Went Back To The Hospital
RawrrAshleex3 replied to phillygirl8133's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Where exactly? I ended up back in the hospital for 4 or 5 days because my lower left side/lower left side on my back (wrapped around) hurt and psi meds weren't helping much. Turned out to be a splenic infarcture. Basically part of my stomach shared a blood supply with my spleen, so cutting it out stopped blood flow to that part of my spleen. it was no big deal though, the tissue there scarred down/shrank and stil works!! About a week after no more pain! -
2 months out, just had it taken out yesterday emergency
-
If it doesn't get better or gets worse after talking to your dr go to the er. One major thing I've learned, don't try to push through pain you can fix easily. Right side could be normal, liver, gall bladder, incisions... There some sort of chest wall somethin or other too but idk much about it.

I switched to capsules my 2nd week out I believe it was and i took it out and mixed in the tiniest bit of applesauce. In the hospital the day after the nurse gave me a 4sectioned off tablet. I was told anything smaller than an m&m is ok careful with dosing though because it goes in and out of our bodies faster. I was on Prilosec OTC 20mg 2x a day prior and the pill was TINY!!!!! Like almost half a tylonal tiny! And soooo much cheaper than dissolvable Prevacid lol

Thank you all, again you have no idea how much your support helps me get through <3 Acute something or other. I had sludge in it when I stayed the 3 weeks, and they said it SHOULD go away on its own. It got worse and inflamed and my gal bladder wasn't contracting like it should of. I know it's a typical complication and I have a major family history so I guess I can't say I'm not surprised, just overwhelmed. It's not crazy pain though, just uncomfortable. Sleeve hurt more (: stent comes out next Wednesday so PRAYING the staple line leak is cleared up and on the road to healthy again!!!

Admitted back into the hospital last night. Gall bladder this time, comes out at noon. Cause I haven't been through enough...
-
Slow due to the leak but getting better with each day!!! At 202, 44 lbs down (:
-
Candice same here!!!!! By the time I ended up being admitted I couldn't walk across to the next room without being exhausted and out of breath! In addition I started shaking for no reason and it got to the point I couldn't get much in and whatever I could came back up. No matter what I did or how much I slept I was always exhausted and couldn't get comfy. The day I got admitted I felt like I did when I had mono, I thought I was going to die or something
-
They only pain I had was heartburn, major acid reflux that my ppi wasn't helping a bit!
-
Home care. With the tpn 24/7 and the pain med patch, still very limited in what I can do/where I can go
-
And FYI, from your pic you're looking fabulous!!!!!!!
-
My biggest thing is at least they figured out why I was so sick and having such a hard time!!! I was seriously in the hospital for a week before they did , they ran so many tests on me (it didn't help though that the 3rd day my face swelled REALLY bad from the gland infection). We definitely need to meet up again! This time I should be more like myself and not so bobble headed (: remember, MY TREAT NEXT TIME!
-
Yall have no idea how much the comments really have been helping me through this, I keep hearing people in the threads along with family and friends and truth is, it's because of hearing things like that and the support when I feel like everything is falling apart and want to give up. Thank you all <3

Don't know exactly, think it may have been a coughing fit I had (I doubled over in quite a bit of pain after). I wasn't there a few weeks ago during my ct scan, and I was feeling ok with food until about the 2nd to last week in June (surgery was may 16)
-
Your surgeon should go over all that with you. You will have restrictions weight/exorcise wise until your dr clears you. DO NOT PUSH YOURSELF!!!!! Your mind and body will adjust, don't worry (: only problem most people have is the challenge of mental hunger, food IS an addiction, and we are going into recovery! Think of it this way: there were 4? people on this thread that had leaks. Leaks are a 1% risk. So you're going to be one of the other 396 people who do fine
-
Sorry it's late but there are solutions. I was given 4; 1 TPN (IV "food") for a min 4-6 weeks and see if it heals on its own 2. Surgically go in and attempt to suture it 3. Convert to bypass 4. Insert a stent temporarily and stay on TPN but I can have sf liquids. I luckily only have a small leak (I did something that caused 1 staple to come out) but after talking to my surgeon we decided the stent was the best choice for my situation. Uncomfortable? Yes. Unbearable? Nah. Biggest pain is my TPN is home infusion, so I have to hook myself up every day and whatnot and it'll be rather annoying when I want to go out with this fugly huge backpack lol
-
Thank you (: Childbirth will be a wiz after all this lol
