Congrats and welcome to the losers bench Check out the NJ GROUP of you haven't already! Also, RWJ Hamilton or NB? -
Gma hasn't said much about my diet. Most of her talk is about going on vacation and the fact my fiance and I broke it off a little over a week ago :/

I've been home a couple weeks now. I got cleared for just about any food! I'm doing good on eatin new foods mostly no problems except froyo, milk, and pickles (that was a dumb choice!) I eat a lot of tuna though, my nut laughed thinking I was nuts till she asked what I had eaten since the previous day and most of the meals including breakfast were tuna lol just need to get more in me, I'm afraid to eat enough as I'm afraid of getting sick. I haven't quite learned my full feeling and signals. I'm down 61? # at 185! Dropped from a 22 to a 16/14 (in between the 2) ate out for the first time today, I was nervous but it went well! I could only eat a little chicken and my waiter was very nice and understanding. My cousin asked ?s and made jokes that cheered me up and put me at ease how are you doing?? We should meet up again soon!

Possibly Tmi: Read With Caution

Alli (the "FDA approved weight loss pill" blocks grease and oil from being absorbed and you poop oil ranging from mild yellow to spray tan orange. Maybe that's all but double check with your Doc (: -

If it makes you feel better I my sister had a chocolate fondue party as shes leaving for college and I felt awful only 2 people came (and 1 didn't like chocolate!) I had half a strawberry, a small peice of a banana, and... 2 small chips. Dipped a little in chocolate (that has heavy cream in it to keep it liquidy, I've become lactose intolerant as well... And I was drinkin snapple not diet orangade yesterday :/ my tummy is still yelling at me! (I'm supposed to be on purée still because of the leak I had) sometimes we gotta learn the hard way! Lesson learned though!!!! -

Advice Please From Folks With Leaks!
RawrrAshleex3 replied to SylviaMom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Pegsinthewoods: I had a splenic infarct as well lol (and problems with my stent (to fix the leak) shifting and digging into my esophagus causing me to get sick. And a salvatory infection (face blew up) with jaundice. And liver enzymes/white cell count spiked. And 2 picc lines as they thought one got infected. And an emergency gall bladder removal. And severe dehydration. And.... Lol >.< (they weren't in that order though). Well, atleast I'm jobless (AND got let go from work the Friday before surgery lol). And let me tell you, these past 3 months have flown by! It's like a few blinks and I'm 57# down! hehe -
Yessss. Can't do any type of broth, my favorite shop rite brand iced tea tastes like over sweetened chemicals, I don't like taco meat anymore, I actually like watermelon now. I always loved! salty carbs and not a huge fan of sweets. I have no craving for salt or carbs, but like sweets now. Craving soda but when I tried to do the "sip and spit" with my beloved diet Pepsi, tasted like fungus-y (like that weird taste when you try to freeze cola yourself). Smells are awful too, certain types of chicken like Perdue pre made or rotisserie make me gag. Walking through our condo breezeway I swear I smell cat pee at the end and no one else smells it!!!!! And I always have this gross vomit taste, my nut told me that's my body in ketosis and when I catch up to the right nutrition levels (I had a lot of complications) it will stop :/ oh the things we volunteer or bodies for! Lol it'll be worth it in the end!!!!!

Gallbladder Question
RawrrAshleex3 replied to scaredoftheunknown's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked mine to remove it at the same time (problems and removal run in the family). He said no as double surgery =increased risk for complications. Funny part is I had a surprise 2nd surgery as I had a sever hiatal hernia that didnt show on my endo. Apparently years ago it used to be standard to remove it with wls but insurances don't cover it anymore. 2 months later, guess what had to be removed immediately? -___- -
Life Can Be Normal. Even If You Travel

So the recipes to these? They look delicious!!!! -
Head hunger has been my hardest thing to overcome, especially since my fiancé eats like crazy and my grandmother is forever telling me "just eat something already" (she knows I'm not allowed to yet and it's hard because we live with her) Have you tried talking to them? Can you walk away? I know it's hard when things smell delicious. At work can you bring sf candies to suck on? I like werthers caramel apple, sun kist orange candies, and mints (all sf!) and when I need to chew, I'll have a mambo here and there (careful they have sugar!) some like gum, but it bothers my new tummy.

Looking For Post Surg People With Approx 100 Lbs To Lose/or Losing
RawrrAshleex3 replied to Raven21's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've lost 57 in 3 months but I had a lot of complications and spent a decent amount of time in the hospital on tpn (iv food). Saw my nut yesterday and she said to be extra careful because not only does it make for extra saggy skin easier, but faster losers make for faster gainers afterward because your body becomes adjusted to "starvation mode" and then starts storing everything as fat. Sometimes it pays to be the tortoise and not the hair!! -
How about apple sauce or carnation instant breakfast? Making your own drinks is a fantastic idea!!! Theres a thread on here with A LOT of different protein shake recipes! I've been having a problem with quenching my thirst and my NUT said chew/suck on plain ice yesterday. are you sure it's real hunger or head hunger? You shouldn't feel hungry so soon after :/

Ugh indeed.

Mines did about 2 1/2 months out. Thought it was just stomach pain from my stent but it was really intense and felt weird, more so under my right breast. If it is really bothering you, go to the ER. You know your body more than anyone else!

When Are We Out Of The Woods?
RawrrAshleex3 replied to made2beme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Didn't find my leak until about 2 months out. I think I'm kinda a rarity so don't get freaked out by my story (: notto mention I didn't originally have one. We still haven't quite pinned why one of my staples came out and I leaked, we thing I either pushed myself too much or it was from a coughing spell thing I had (right after I was doubled over in a lot of pain) -

A Few Questions...
RawrrAshleex3 replied to AJPeezy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
May 16,but like I said I had quite a few complications (including a leak). Between my NUT and hair dressers some tips for hair loss: -keep up on liquids and most importantly Protein -take Biotin and Multivitamins -don't dye/treat your hair for at least 6 months after -try not to blowdry/hot iron/curl it a lot -there are hair products with biotin/can help promote healthy hair like nioxin and it's a 10 -condition regularly (my hair is so dry it looks fried) -avoid sulfate in hair products, they can dry your hair out -keep up with regular cuts -keratin MAY help as it coats your hair. Check with your hairdresser if your hair is in good enough condition first Edit: sorry, to help avoiddddddd hair loss -
Idk I'm Gonna Ever Enjoy Food Anymore
RawrrAshleex3 replied to tabbymonroe's topic in The Gals' Room
I got REALLY sick. After my surgery I did pretty good, Iwas even eating bits of fruit. Within a could weeks I wasn't able to even take my meds let alone liquids, I threw EVERYTHING up, and if I didn't have anything I dry heaved. I couldn't stand up, I got dizzy, exhausted, felt like I was going to pass out. They did a ton of tests and a week later when they had me all sorts of medicated(quite frankly over medicated, I don't remember most of that week) they did the swallow test they do when you first have it done and a ct scan and found 2 teeny tiny grey areas. A week later they were still there. I don't think I ever cried so much in my life. its fixed though now!!!! -
A Few Questions...
RawrrAshleex3 replied to AJPeezy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told that if I didn't go RIGHT before the surgery I would have one so I didn't go during/right after. Scared me to the point I did #1 & 2 right before lol I have 5 small (maybe an inch, 3 months later they are just little pink marks) incisions. Drinking really is a chore!!!! Every 15 minutes, take a shot! I became a clock watcher, although recently its because I can't seem to quench my thirst. I'm losing my hair something awful, but I had a lot of complications and am on full liquids, not even on protein yet. -
Gastritis Question
RawrrAshleex3 replied to Nick'sMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was put on a ppi after my endoscopy due to gastritis/irregular z-line/etc. I had no complications right after surgery and the ones I did had nothing to with it, they just kept me on the ppi after due to the results right after surgery -
Idk I'm Gonna Ever Enjoy Food Anymore
RawrrAshleex3 replied to tabbymonroe's topic in The Gals' Room
Are you sure you're really truly hungry or is it "head hunger"? Don't push yourself too hard, I did and ended u with a leak among various other complications. At 2 weeks I was on full liquids still (and at 3 months, still am). If you like clam chowder, strain Phillips clam chowder (in the frozen food section). Best clam chowder I've ever had!!! Are you getting in enough to drink? Enough protein? Another thing I've fallen in love with is Rita's ice and freeze pops. Check with your NUT first, but mine has me on sugar, not sf and I feel like it helps a lot. Sf stuff makes me sick, and the ones that don't just taste awful and sour. -
Advice Please From Folks With Leaks!
RawrrAshleex3 replied to SylviaMom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
1) if you heard odds like I got, you would still do the VSG? Personally, no. Do the odds go down though if you wait to do the sleeve? 2) for those who had leaks whether you were able to go back to work while healing? Im currently unemployed, but there's noooo way I would have been able to function at work, even a sitting job. 2 weeks after stent removal I'm still recovering and easily exhausted. I'm my surgeons first leak, SCORE! (not!) 3) how long the leak related hospitalization was? 3 weeks between figuring out I had a leak, getting a stent to help fix it, and making sure the stent was ok with my body/it expanding and getting the pain settled. (in between this and my next sentence I had another week stay as my gall bladder needed to be removed). Then another 2 week stay 4 weeks later as the stent shifted 2" up, dug into my esophagus and I got very sick. Then the gi drs were refusing to take it out until 6 weeks "as per the stent company's suggestion" until my surgeon and I insisted. (so the stent was in a total of 5 weeks, ironically the amount of my hospital stays) 4) any idea what the total cost of treatment was (WLS nor complications are covered by my insurance)? Still haven't gotten the statements yet. Honestly extremely scared to get them lol 5) any advice, words of wisdom? Any questions I should ask my surgeon? Go with your gut. I didn't take the complications seriously, thought I'd be like superwoman due to fast healing from previous surgeries and procedures. Funny that the last question I asked before being knocked out was omg am I sure I want to do this? And had a funny feeling. I should have went with that's a bad sign and backed out. Good news? I'm alive. I'll live. In a year or so I probably won't regret it. Has your dr done many revisions before? What's his complication rate? What's his suggestions?
