Pcos, Ablation, Now Banded....does This Mean........
pbmls223 replied to pbmls223's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I had my ablation I was on bc pills. But after the ablation, no period at all. I know some people who have a regular, normal cycle tend to have an incredibly light period after the ablation. I'm one of those PCOS girls who hardly EVER had her period. So when I had the ablation it stopped all together. So now I'm wondering, once I get down to a more normal weight, is my body going to kick into having some sort of a period now, or did the ablation truly take care of it. It'll be interesting to see. -
Port Pain Normal Vs. Abnormal
pbmls223 replied to pbmls223's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks all! See I told you I tend to lean on the hypochondriac side of life I thought I was ok, but wanted to see how everyone else was or had done. Sounds like I might be on similar roads. I was icing the area but have in several days. Sounds like I need to do that again. -
Ok, for those of you vets of this surgery I'm looking for advice. I'm talking have walked through the band surgery awhile ago and are well on the other side now. I had my surgery on 5/21, so I'm technically 9 days post-op now. I'm just wondering if the pain I'm having is normal vs. something I need to call about. I tend to lean on the hypocondriac side and I don't want to be one of those patients at this doctor's office. I'm still new to them I'm having quite a bit of pain when I'm doing slight rolls from my back to my right side and sometimes certain points on my abdomen (not even necessarily where my port is) hurts to the touch. There's no extra redness, heat or drainage that would indicate infection, that's why I'm assuming it's all normal. But even just sitting here it is a bit "twingy". Just looking for a bit of advice.

Yeah, every surgeon is different. I did a 1200 calorie diet (3-8 oz protein shakes, 1/2 cup of fruit, 1 fat free yogurt, 1 lean cuisine and 1 cup of salad w/1 tbsp of lite dressing) for 8 days and then clear liquids for the 2 days prior to surgery.

Port Pain Normal Vs. Abnormal

Just to make my situation a little more difficult, my NP, is out on maternity leave basically until my appt next week. So, I'd end up dealing w/the "new girl" who is ok, but she's nothing like my NP, ya know? Ok, I'll quit complaining at 4 am. -
Please Don't Hate Me But I Gotta Ask......
pbmls223 replied to azhoselady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm right there with you. Only feeling hungry a tiny bit here and there. Still on full liquids until next Tuesday when I go back for my post-op and change over to mushies. My office told me they had a lady who had the surgery who did not have a fill for the first year. The mental idea of just having the band inside was enough that she maintained a good, steady weight loss without extra restriction. So, you never know. I have to imagine, there has to be "some" restriction even without a fill in it. -
I was banded on Monday 5/21 and am just now noticing the swelling just coming down a week later! It gets better! Walk, warm drinks (I drank chicken broth) and gas x! Feel better!!!

kah - hope things went perfectly today!!!! Let us know how it went & how you feel. Hi Christine - I was banded the day before. Sorry no answer about the steri-strips, I didn't get any. How are you feeling?

To: Continue to be the healthy me and not develop diabetes or high blood pressure Get rid of sleep apnea To live as long as possible for my babies (who are 11 & 6) and my husband To fit in clothes in the regular clothes section To weigh less than my husband for possibly the first time since we were 16 & 17 To sit in a booth at a restaurant comfortably (that is a good one) To use a regular stall in the bathroom vs the handicap one (good one too) And let's just all admit it....to look good. I will never look as good as I would "like" to, but I'm sure after losing this weight and a great plastic surgeon, it'll be better.

When Do Most Get Chicken Again?
pbmls223 replied to nursemarti's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear soooo many different things from different people. I have read another person cannot eat any red meat now, it's too difficult, but poultry is fine for her. -
My husband has had a few moments like that, but in general he's been eating in front of me. Just let him know. Especially if you haven't been that interested in food. That'll help.

Saw this blog somewhere else here on LBT and thought I'd share with my fellow Spinger's, not that I'll be eating at least for like a month, but someday http://www.bandfriendlyrecipes.com/

Help! I Need To Drop 10Lbs!
pbmls223 replied to kwood803's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I followed my pre-op diet from my doctor's office. 3 - 8 oz Protein shakes a day, 1 non-fat yogurt, 1/2 cup of fruit, 1 lean cuisine or similar and 1 cup of salad with 1 tbsp of lite dressing. Example: 8 am - Protein shake 10 am - yogurt 12 pm - protein shake 2 pm - 1/2 cup of fruit (if using canned fruit, make sure it is in lite syrup) 4 pm - protein shake 7 pm - lean cuisine and 1 cup of salad w/1 tbsp of lite dressing What is your doctor recommending? Or is he just saying lose weight? -
Is This A Healing Feeling Or Should I Be Concerned?
pbmls223 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, I'm looking for some advice. Last night while reading my iPad, I dropped it on my abdomen. Yep, the same abdomen that just got got banded 4 days priror. Now I'm having a new feeling I hadn't felt before in what I am assuming is my stomach, a pinching feeling. I'm thinking this is unrelated to the dropping accident and just a coincidence. Is it just a "healing" feeling (sorry to sound like Dr. Seuss)? -
Deb, I know you are disappointed (and I believe we can all totally sympathize with you) but you can always look to us as big sisters, right? Daisy, I get the thing about the protein shakes. I finally found Body Fortress with skim milk and can tolerate them. Except last night's tasted funny...hmmmm....anyway, my doctor in a big packet of info sent home some stuff about how important protein is for healing after a surgery so I get what you are saying. Plus when I was in my pre-op diet and drinking 24 oz of protein shakes a day I had WAY more energy than usual. Sara, the did the doctor think he was going to do a fill at this appt? Purty, sounds like you are getting along awesomingly! Azhoselady, how are you feeling? I think you and I were banded a couple of days apart. Hey, I'm looking for some advice and I'll probably put it on the post-op forum too. Last night while reading my iPad, I dropped it on my abdomen. Yep, the same abdomen that just got got banded 4 days priror. Now I'm having a new feeling I hadn't felt before in what I am assuming is my stomach, a pinching feeling. So on Sunday we will be attending a birthday party at Max & Erma's and I will only be 6 days post-op. My plan is to eat applesauce and the broth from the French onion Soup or if they have cream of something maybe that, just careful of the stuff in it. Any other ideas??

My office says no tomatoes right now due to the acidity.

Almost 6Mos Post Op And I've Only Lost 15Lbs
pbmls223 replied to spoiledbratt97's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is what I've been told: 60-80 grams of Protein 25-35 grams of fat (closer to 25) No saturated fat 45-60 grams of carbs (complex carbs) -
Jackie's girl - right before my diet I had some bean dip at a party and I saw some "Texas Trash" on Pinterest. I bet that could be turned in a mushie. Refried beans (low fat), low fat or no fat cream cheese and low fat or no fat sour cream with some 2% cheese on top. Skip the chips, use a spoons. Am I crazy or could that be a lo-cal mushie?

Except I wasn't able to have protein shakes until day 3 post-op.
