How could two shakes and a salad be over 800? Are you using full fat dressings? Lots of cheese and meat toppings? I think most of my salads are under 200 cals. Most veggies are practically nothing. Paul Newman's Light dressings are great and low cal.

Two Lovers, Trying To Meet, But Something Stands In The Way...
Mom2many replied to SashaWLS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow. My dr wants me to eat my Protein but this would make it very difficult. -
So I got my first fill yesterday of 3cc. Liquids yesterday and could advance to solids today. I was only able to eat about 5 bites of my super yummy salad a moment ago at lunch. I was surprised it happened so quickly, but I got a full feeling in my chest and had read enough here to know to stop eating. I know that it will probably take more fills but I am excited today to at least be on my way!!!!!

Thank you! I was banded 3/20. I'm sure it is due to swelling but I am glad to feel full so quickly. It was zero pain. My dr told me to push my stomach out and then he cleaned the port site and inserted the needle. Easy peazy! I don't know if it makes a difference but I can feel my port. It might be more uncomfortable if they had to dig around to find it. Good luck!!!!!

I'm glad you are doing better!!!!!

Nicole they need to get your infection cleared up. I'm appalled that they would think about a fill with an infected incision. Has it stopped draining? Best of luck to you. Let us know what happens.

It's up by the search bar when you go to add food. Love it.

There would be no way to cover that. Lab results are usually time stamped by a computer system and you could easily see whether the test had been run pre-op if you looked at your in/out surgery times.
-
If your port is easy enough to access a RN could likely do it. It's not that different from an infusaport that chemo patients have. Not making any recommendations--just saying. I will be going to Haiti in may and leaving whatever fill I've had in the band.

Lost One Pound In Two Months
Mom2many replied to Nikki Riviotta's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Someone on another thread posted about starvation mode. Although you may temporarily plateau, your body will eventually start having to give up its fat stores. If this wasn't the case we wouldn't have starving people all over the world nor anorexia. -
Anyone else experiencing dizziness every once in a while? Banded on 3/20 and on a full liquid diet. I think it's probably a lack of calories honestly but wondered if anyone else felt this way. Thanks.

Had my surgery on March 20, and as I progress to more normal foods I've had trouble getting in enough Water. I always drank with my meals prior to this so it's an adjustment. Yesterday I was at church on and off all day, and didn't drink nearly enough by the time i waited 30 min before and after meals Guess I will have to take water with me everywhere. Anyone else have this issue?

Trouble Getting In The Water!
Mom2many replied to Mom2many's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is me. Yesterday I had that "burning feeling" when I peed. Tmi I know. But I am positive it was because of not enough water. Today I feel better but I have really been concentrating on it. -
What's substantial mean to you? Aren't you still on liquids?

What Do They Have Us Do
Mom2many replied to amandacoop's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's just surgeons preference I think. If there were any real evidence based practice to show one diet advancement method as best, there likely would be such variation. I think also they are just being overly cautious. We haven't made the best food choices in the past--so they are strict with us! -
I'm getting my first full on April 23rd also! Am excited!

It's thrush. I'm a RN and see this often. Call your primary care MD. You need nystatin solution to swish and swallow. Good luck! -
How Long Did You Stay Home Post-Surgery ?
Mom2many replied to Dzire's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on a Tuesday and took off two weeks. Had my post op appt today and go back to work tomorrow. I'm glad I took off that long. My job is very stressful although sedate and I commute about 45 minutes each way. I feel ready to go back now. -
I'm In The Very Beginning Stages...
Mom2many replied to ChristineS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on 3/20. I'm 33 yo and weighed 255, am 5'5. My BMI was 43. So far I've lost 11 pounds and am not looking back. My insurance didn't require a waiting period and I didn't have a pre-op weight loss diet. Good luck! -

17 Days Post-Op
Mom2many replied to BrandiSCollins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's awesome! I'm still on full liquids til Tuesday but I've had some mushies out of necessity at lunch yesterday and today. (out with kids and no soup). I've lost 10 lbs so far and wish it was more! But--I'm feeling good and was able to hike about 7 miles with the kids yesterday without collapsing lol, so I guess that's a positive!!!!!! I don't get a fill til 6 weeks out so it will be a bit. Looking forward to losing weight--you'd think with the calorie restriction it would be falling off but not my body!!!!! Nope--I would have lived through the worst famine! Ha! -
