    The Honest Truth

Hi! I'm extremely happy with how active I've become! BUT I'm 34 and I have saggy skin. My apron and arms drive me crazy. I just started noticing that I'm getting some skin wrinkles on the tops of my thighs. My hair has been falling out since month three. It's breaking like crazy. I don't dye or style my hair. Yes, I would take all of these side effects over being morbidly obese. However, I'm trying really hard to not have the body of a weight loss surgery patient that does not exercise (saggy skin and a extremely soft midsection). I do take my vitamins, drink my water, and meet my protein requirement.
  4. Yay u, webchickadee! That's fantastic! I used to hate being sore, but now I'm learning to love it because it means I'm getting stronger. Congrats on conquering the stairwell!!

    What Have You Lost Lately?

Ha! Lmao! I know and I so agree. They break eventually. Just keep working the sleeve.
  8. I remember the itching too! It sucks the first couple of weeks, but it does pass. I used to get so frustrated because I wanted to sleep all the time, but then that would mess up my protein and fluid quota. I also remember my emotions being all over the place. Hang in there, it gets considerably better after the one month mark and the goodness will skyrocket with more time passing by. I'm so happy and I'll be four months out on the 12th.
  9. Thanks Littlebits! Watched the link. It is cool seeing the sleeve being talked about. I had no idea that it existed either until my pcp brought it up. So thankful he did!

    What Have You Lost Lately?

I have happily lost... The fear of riding in go-karts. My son turned 15 yesterday and I actually got to race him in a go kart at a putt putt place. There was no fear of the seat belt not reaching. There was no fear that I wouldn't be able to get out of the darn car. The fear of kayaking. Tried that on Saturday and low and behold my sheer girth did not sink it! Nor did it tip over. 72 pounds! A couple pant sizes. Went from a size 20 to a now comfortable size 12! Shirt sizes too. Went from 2X to a large. The ability to shop in a plus size store! No more Lane Bryant or Avenue for me! I agree with everyone on the board that says that the sleeve has saved their life. It so has done the same for me! Happy Monday!

    My Tickers Are Crazy!

I'm glad u followed up regarding the tickers. I had three in my signature too! I finally deleted them and decided to not bother with them. But now it sounds like they are going to fix it. Hooray! Maybe I'll add them back.

    Sandwiches

I eat the double fiber bread if I choose to eat a sandwich, and I toast my bread My sleeve doesn't like flour tortillas at all. I don't really tolerate the spinach wraps that well either.

    Breast, Boobs, Bubbies, Chest-L, Tits!

Well, I'm sad to say that not only have I lost significant boobage, my butt decided to join the girls! There is not much left. its like my legs just keep going. I think I'm sadder about my booty than the boobies. At least I can put on a pretty bra and pretend. There's nothing that's going to camouflage the lack of buttness.
  16. Hi! I'm 5'3 and weighed 212 on my surgery day. My highest weight was 235- I lost the difference on my preop diet. I was sleeved 3.12.12 and currently I weigh 164.

  19. I have shared with about 10 friends. I haven't told my in laws. As for how to answer questions about weight loss- I find that if I don't say much people answer their own questions. It's hilarious. This is the way it typically works... Person: omg! U have lost a ton of weight! What have u been doing. Me: thanks! I've been working hard. Person: so what have u been doing? Me: pause and smile Person: diet (pause and look at me expectantly)? Me: smile and nod Person: exercise, huh? Me: smile and nod Person: wow! That's awesome. I need to do that. And then they typically walk away. I guess I've been lucky so far.

    Lose A Shoe Size?

Oh, toe rings! I haven't worn one of those since high school. I love having the ability to accessorize. I heart my sleeve and the effort that I've put in to working it so far. As for shoe size- I haven't dropped a whole size but a lot of my slip on shoes like ballet flats and sandles slip off my heel when I walk.

    What Are Your Coping Mechanisms?

Don't be so hard on yourself. No one is perfect. Yeah, you didn't stick to your plan, but you know what you need to do differently. I was a huge stress eater - I wouldn't eat a lot of volume, but I would make the worst food choices. Or I would wait too long in between meals and then consume way too much food. I'm not a vet by any means- I was sleeved 3.12.12. I have found that I CAN'T overeat. My sleeve prevents that from happening. I get sick. As for making good food choices... Well I'm not perfect but I do really try to eat the required protein and drink my fluids. If I NEED something sweet- I eat maybe a bite or two. The sleeve is a wonderful tool. It'll help u from making mistakes and will do wonders if u eat right and exercise. Don't stress too much and good luck on ur journey.

    "really!"

He's an ASS. U don't need to change anything or grow thick skin. I'm sorry that u have to deal with that. Why can't people act like nice human beings?? Sheesh.
