  1. I'm down 73lb with 50 more to go! How about everyone else?
  2. I think I'm more nervous about hers than I was my own. I had the sleeve in march and have awesome results and no big issues. But now that my mom is about to start the process all I can think is...what if she's one of the people that has problems and I've made it seem too easy? Has anyone gone through anything similar to this? My mom is in her 50s and her main health issue is diabetes. Des her age make her more likely to have bad side effects?

My Mom Is Having Surgery On 12/03

Haha oh gosh I didn't think about how that sounded! I meant is there a huge difference in recovery from the perspective of me being in my 20s vs my mom who is in her 50s. I just worry I have her going into this thinking it'll be super easy...and I didn't know with the age difference if recovery is different. The info you have me is great! Thanks! And don't rock to hard in that rocking chair!!!
  4. Today is exactly six months from the day I had this life changing surgery. It has flown by! Here's some before and after pictures...well really before a during...I have about 60 lbs to go! Six Month Anniversary

I'm so glad I had this surgery! It's changed my life. And there's nothing to be scared of' date=' I promise! Surgery is a breeze, recovery is not fun but really not too bad, then you do the worst part---liquid and mushy foods, then it's just back to normal life just with less food and less weight. :'] you'll love it!
  8. I guess the ones I looked at had a lot more than that. I just meant too many calories for the quality. I always wanted my calories to go towards something yummy. After surgery you don't get to eat a lot so I wanted what I did eat to be good.
  9. Oh I love this!! Here's my list: -for my husband to be able to pick me up -to be able to wear a tshirt and look comfortable instead of lazy -to enjoy the beach -to not have to untag myself in every fb picture -to get those 'that girls hot' looks -shop in the regular size clothes section -for people to be able to tell I'm pregnant and not just overweight when I decide to have babies -so I can go to my high school reunion -so I'm not embarrassed when I see people from the past -to be healthy for my children one day -tmi...so I can feel sexy when I'm on top during sex -so I can stand up for more than 5 minutes without my feet hurting I could probably keep going... :]
  10. No baby food for me...it was all too high in calories in my opinion. I ate a lot of refried beans, scrambled eggs mushed up, mashed potatoes, and soup.
  11. IRON!! I was feeling like that along with getting dizzy then I realized the vitamin I was taking had no iron in it. Started taking an iron supplement and literally the next day I felt like a different person! Try it

Why Is My Fat So Soft?

I think what you're feeling is where your skin in loose. Think about a balloon filled with sand...if its stuffed full then it will feel firm. If you take out some sand it will be squishier.
  13. I'm trying to find out if I'm a slow loser or not. Also I want to see what others, who started around the same time as me, have been eating and how much they're working out. Let me know! Thanks! Highest weight: 270 Surgery date: 03/22/12 Weight day of surgery: 263 Current weight: 224
  14. I just saw my nut Friday and asked her about this. She said that your body breaks down and uses carbs much faster than protein so the more carbs you eat, the faster you'll get hungry. If you eat lean protein then you'll stay fuller longer. I've been trying to cut my carbs way back since she told me that and am noticing a difference. So for breakfast I went from eating a breakfast bar to having a spoon full of peanut butter. So far so good! Cause I am sick of being hungry!!

    Not Hungry Ever?!

I don't know how it is for everybody but I started out that way and about 1 month out I started getting hungry. I get hungry at regular meal times. But thankfully it only takes a few bites to be full.
  16. Does anyone else feel guilty when talking about your weight loss? I know it took courage to have surgery and I know I've had to struggle to follow the rules, but when I talk about how much I've lost or people compliment me I always feel the need to clarify that I didn't do it on my own. Anyone else feel like this?

    Anyone Regret Your Sleeve?

The first month is super frustrating...you just really miss food! But it 100% gets better! I love my sleeve so much now and I'm about 2 1/2 months out. I am lucky to be able to eat whatever I want, but in small sleeve sized portions. Life is easier...no constant worry about food. I've lost close to 40lb and honestly am not sure if this is considered slow or not but I am more than happy. Just keep reminding yourself that you're just a few weeks away from the hardest part being over and you can handle anything for that short amount of time.
  20. How many of you have had your gallbladder out since surgery? After several attacks of the worst pain I've ever experienced my doctor has scheduled me to have mine out this Thursday. I'm more nervous about this than I was about my WLS!

Can I Leave The Husband At Home?

Girl you better do that!!!! I love my hubby to death but I am not joking when I say he annoyed the heck out of me at the hospital. His back hurt, he was hungry, he couldn't sleep. I was more worried about him than I was myself! I say let him stay with the kids and let you and the nurses concentrate on you. Good luck!
  22. He was prob trying to be funny....and very unsuccessfully. But i will say that I read a lot of stuff about pain after surgery and I was terrified, but I had very little pain. I was sore and a bit uncomfortable but not in pain. Everyone is different and some people hurt worse than others but I've never heard anyone say it wasn't worth the pain. So even if you feel like you were in the bar fight from hell...when you recover you'll say "damn that was an awesome night!"

    Sinus Issues

ME TOO! I honestly never connected it to surgery until just now reading your post! Since surgery I've had like 5 sinus infections and have stayed congested. I'm now taking 2 different allergy medicines and it's helping some. Now I'm really curious if this correlates to the surgery.
