I do better when I record what I eat. It makes me accountable. Don't be discouraged! It takes time, not all of us lose or gain the same.

Found my Sweet Spot again and it's pretty sweet!
inkgurl replied to NaNa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations! I have had so many problems since getting my band, but not because of it. I've had a complete unfill and had to start over. I have 4cc in a 10 cc band and have had my band since April of 2012. I'm 18 months out and felt like I was at my sweet spot for the last 6. I had a small fill today from 3.75 to 4. Only because I have noticed that it's been gradually taking a little more food for me to feel satisfied. I'm only on liquids now but I'll see in a few days how it goes. I'm happy with your story, mostly because I didn't even know that there was a 4cc band, and I like to hear how much others are filled with to be at their "sweet spot". -
I work at a doctors office. The best advice I can give a patient is that YOU are your own best health advocate. You are the only one who knows how your body feels, and when something isn't right. Don't ever worry that you are bothering your doctors office! It's our jobs to take care of the patients, even if that means just listening to them. Granted, I don't work in a bariatric office, but I think it's good advice for anyone!

I recently came down with a case of West Nile Virus with encephalomeningitis. It was causing all sorts of vomiting and nausea! Thank God my surgeon called me back and told me to go straight to the E.R. He admitted me from there. I have only had my band done on 04/29/12. I was scared and so sick! He unfilled my band completely. Thank God he did that! I just had my f/u with him this morning. He wants to wait 6 weeks before we start fills again. He wants me to regain my strength back first! I have more problems with everything else, but the band!

I was banded 4/29/12. I have lost 45lbs. -
I'm so happy for you! You're doing great! Keep up the good work!

I guess I'm really lucky! I have 3.25 cc's in a 10 cc band. I have to eat soft foods very slowly. I might even be a little to tight, but I'm not going to tell on myself! I can get liquids and soft foods just fine. Tightest in the morning. I'm in my "green zone" now. Can't eat a lot of things now, but that's good for me. Can't do breads at all, very little pasta, and no rice. Since those are my weaknesses, this is a great thing for me! But I do miss being able to eat as I used to. But that's what got me to being so fat in the first place. My tool is really helping!

Hahaha! That's all!

Anyone From April Had Banded Filled?
inkgurl replied to newme0617's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my surg. On 4/27/12. I had my first fill of 2 cc's on 5/27/12, and I lost 8 pounds that month. Just got another fill of 1.25 cc's and can hardly eat anything. I think I got my "sweet spot" already! It's been hard to fight the head hunger! I can feel that I'm full, but I still have to take a bite or two more, and this is soo bad, that I get pb's. -
I took 2 weeks off, and I'm glad that I had! I had some complications after surg. And glad I had the extra time to rest! But only you know what your body can handle.

Productive Burp or regurging your food without actually vomiting.

Ate Bread & Still Have So Much Pain...
inkgurl replied to MonsterGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've tried several times to eat bread. All kinds do bread, flat bread, white, whole wheat, whole grain, they are all a NO-NO for me! I'm only 2 months out, but that ended up being a really good thing for me. I was a giant bread addict. Stuck episodes don't usually last that long, I would go get it checked out! -
This scares me. I just got my second fill this a.m. I'm now @ 3.25cc's in a 10cc band. I noticed when I drank the water after my fill, it went through the stoma/band much slower than before. I went & grabbed a coffee, and am drinking it much slower than usual. I'm on liquids all day than mushies tomorrow, so I'll see how it goes.

Shopping For Smaller Clothes...thrift Stores!!!
inkgurl replied to rayanne's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I found that in my area, there's not a big selection for me @ my current size, and also the cost @ good will rivals that of target or Walmart, at least in my area. I can't wait to get smaller so I can shop @ the reg. section of the stores! I'm only 2 months post surgery and have lost 20lbs. since. I already have smaller clothes in my closet. When I shop, I tend to buy a size smaller, buy knits or jersey, or things that I can easily alter if I need. But other than that, I love thrift stores! You never know what you're going to find! -

Anyone From April Had Banded Filled?
inkgurl replied to newme0617's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded 4-27-12. I had initially lost 13 pounds, then when I was able to eat solids, gained 3. Yes it totally sucked! Since then, I have felt no real restriction. Don't feel much of anything really. The only "episodes" I have had was trying to eat a hot dog, and getting to burp it back up, then eating chicken, with the same results. It was chewed really well too! Went in for my first fill today. They gave me 2cc's in a 10 cc band. But good news, found out that I had lost the 3 lbs. that I gained & lost 1 additional pound. So, when I started I was 272, then at pre-op I was 260. Now I'm at 246. So since pre-op, I have lost 14 lbs. wish it had been more, but we are all works in progress! And now my Dr. Just cleared me for the gym, so I expect it to be getting much better! Good luck to all of us on our journey!! -
Really sorry eggzy! Hope all goes well!
-
Just got my first fill this morning and only got 2 cc's put in! Wish my dr. Was a little more aggressive, but I get his trepidation!
-
I just found out I have a 10 cc band. Had surg on 4/27/12. Had my first fill today, n went fine. Minimal trouble finding my port! The injection wasn't even worth mentioning! It was soo nothing. I was scared, but I won't be next time. I only got 2 cc's. My doctor doesn't believe in being over aggressive with fills. But I've lost only a pound, but that'll change now that he has okayed me to go back to the gym! Yay! I really miss the gym!
-
Idahoanmom, I'll pray that you get through this with as little side-effects as possible! I'm sorry you have to go through this at all.

I was banded on 4/27/12. I'm on mushies now. I can't wait to go back to the gym! I miss it so much! I haven't been counting my calories, or my protein. Have been doing the shots instead of the shakes-not much I better though. I found someone's idea of a scoop of choco protein powder to a Greek yogurt and freezing it to be very helpful! It's great in this hot weather. I also found that I have no problem eating anything so far. Ate eggs and sausage yesterday. It was great! I love veggies, and I want them so bad, but eating them mushed just doesn't appeal to me. Eggs so far are my friends, I can't see doing mushy meat either. I'm feeling like myself again, and I go back to work on Friday.
