Me Before And After At Six Months!
Sleevorama replied to Sleevorama's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Well, meant to correct that. My brand was Cherry Coke. I liked Dr. Pepper, but I was a Cherry Coke guy. Do I miss it.....yes and no. I have found a new addiction, Diet Peach Snapple. If I didn't have something that took its place, plain water wasn't cutting it, then I'm sure I would miss it more than I do. My Nut said Diet Peach Snapple, or regular home brewed Iced Tea with sweetner instead of sugar were great subs....and since I love Iced tea, worked for me. I have had a few sips here and there of soda, but even that hasn't been enough to make me want to go back to drinking it as much as I did. I have every confidence that my soda addiction attributed at least 70% to me being overweight. I loved the taste and the burn of the carbination, but being smaller now....I love that more than any soda!! -

Surgery September 5 And Last Minute Jitters!
Sleevorama replied to salpal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome Awesome Awesome!! When I had mine I expected a lot of pain and such....but it really wasn't that bad. Dr Halpin was awesome!!! -
May seem a silly questions...but still. How much should I be exercising now? I go in for my 6month the end of September now. I feel great and am currently doing 3 times a week in the gym, about an hour to an hour and a half per visit. Should I be doing 5 days a week in the gym? I'm stil losing weight, not at the rocket pace I started at, but I'm told thats normal. What are your thoughts or how you all do it? Right now I have it split up.....30min of cardio, walking, jogging, eliptical...I switch it up, the rest of the time is weights.

I just want to see what others felt have been there biggest OMG moments after surgery. Mine was this summer....we went on a family vacation this summer to SoCal. First OMG...the plane ride. I FIT!!! Last time I flew I overflowed out the seat and had to use a seat belt extender....this time, fit comfortably between the arm rests and no extension. I even had slack left over once I cinched the seat belt down!!! Second, we went to six flags....and again I FIT!!!! Last time I went to six flags I had rides I embarrassingly had to get off because I couldn't fit........this time, FIT ON EVERY FREAKING ONE OF THEM!!!! And the final OMG, I'm not ashamed to say the sex with the wife is amazing!!! Its like when we were dating 14yrs ago....holy crap, I mean I know how much rolls and all that get in the way...but just don't realize how much until they are gone. I know that last on maybe a little much for some, but sorry....I'm just gooshing with good things!! The wife is actually getting a bit tired of me pointing out all the things I can fit into now that I couldn't before.....activity wise, not the sex.....

Biggest Omg Moments?
Sleevorama replied to Sleevorama's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I too have discovered this, lol. Anything without a cushion now isn't neccesarily uncomfotable.....but they absolutely aren't as comfortable as they were when I had my builti in cushion. I had an OMG topper......just found out we're going to have a new baby. Thought my little swimmers maybe dead.....don't know if the weight loss and exercise revitalized them....but here we go!!! -
I'm not a girl, but do agree. Tell the guy when you're ready. I'm married.....so it has nothing to do with dating, but I still am choosy who I tell I have had surgery because as WednesdaysSun said there will be people that don't understand and will be critical. On a side note, from your picture you look beautiful, so you should feel comfortable with yourself first, before you worry about what some dumb guy thinks of you. Find the guy that cares for you as you.

Has Anyone Tried Zero Carb Isopure?
Sleevorama replied to sarahmoni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm with you....I hated the Isopures....but I wasn't able to drink any of the whey stuff without puking, literally. The only protein shake that my NUT said was ok and that I could drink without any problems, and it tastes really really good, was Bolthouse Mango Protein shake, 32g protein per bottle. I'm out of surgery 6months now and it still tastes good to me. You can thin it down if its to thick right after surgery....but yeah...mmm good. -
Having Surgery Sept 5.. Having The Last Supper Syndrome.. Help!
Sleevorama replied to salpal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At the hospital you'll be at...they'll give you a couple of choices for the protein drink the day after the surgery. I reccomend the carmel flavor. None of them are that good, and you'll only be taking a few sips of it anyways....but the carmel tasted the "best" out of them.....at least thats what I thought. -
Surgery September 5 And Last Minute Jitters!
Sleevorama replied to salpal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck tomorrow!! I did two weeks and followed it to a t, but that was me. I had a lady that had here surgery with Valerie the same day and she didn't follow the diet at all. She came through it just fine, but from my understanding the diet accomplishes two things. It shrinks your liver so they can get at your stomach easier, and it also gets you set for the lower calorie intake after the surgery....so you aren't trying to eat the same portions. Either way, you should be fine....its just better if you do follow the diet. LIke I said in the message, if you have any questions on anything, no matter how silly or gross you think it maybe, feel free. I felt weird about all those questions at first....but everyone has them. Be more than happy to tell you my experiences! Again, good luck tomorrow...everything will be fine and you'll!! -
I picked a gym that is on my way home from work, and I change into my gym clothes before I leave work. This helped me get into the frame of mind that this was routine. It took a week to get used to, but now much like other people I feel weird if I miss my gym time.

Only been going to the gym a little while now, still only taking in about 900-1000 calories a day, but the last couple of days I weighed I have gained a bit. Is this normal? I am lifting now and doing cardio both.....

Highschool skinny just blows my mind. I never thought I would get this far....best thing that I have ever done for myself.

Lack Of Exercise - Energy Level?
Sleevorama posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok.....I'm down 100lbs, I have had my measurements and I've lost a little bit more muscle than they wanted to by this stage, but its not bad. I haven't really done anything but some walking and swimming as far as exercises go. I just joined a gym to start doing weights 3times a week, this starts actually tomorrow. The question I have is that my energy level sucks lately, like for the last week. Before that I had plenty of energy. Are there peeks and valleys in regards to my energy level, and will that be more balanced once I have a "standardized" less sporatic exercise routine? -
5 Days Post Op And No Energy.
Sleevorama replied to mom23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wasn't walking a lot at first, not because of pain or anything, but because like you said...I just ran out of steam real quick. The energy will slowly come back, and will get to a point where you're scratching your head wondering where the energy came from. I just hit a energy slump this last week, but I think my protein is below where it needs to be. Anyways, long story longer...it will get better and you will be walking where ever you want....it just takes a bit of time to get back. -
Gastric Sleeve 2 Wk Post Op
Sleevorama replied to DallasTXJuly3GastricSleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good job! It just keeps going and getting better!!! -
Doc wanted me at 200lbs.....I wasn't 200lbs in highschool. I chose the weight I was my senior year in highschool, 215lbs. That was my most active and when I felt the best about myself, body wise. Granted 200lbs isn't much further below.....but I just don't see myself hitting that one.

Lack Of Exercise - Energy Level?
Sleevorama replied to Sleevorama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great, thank you all. I am currently taking 1000mg B12 daily, should it be more than that?? -
The one I found, which may not be best but my NUT applauded me for finding one is called BoltHouse Mango Protein smoothie. I have tried tons of protein and they all cause me to throw up, no lie. The BoltHouse Mango is my saving grace. I can't have it every day, but it does fill a need. Usually have one for Breakfast every other day....takes me about 2-3hrs to drink the whole thing...but at least I'm getting the protein. This is only an 8oz guide, I have 16oz's for my breakfast.

Stall, Not Upset...just Perplexed
Sleevorama posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok...I've done awesome and am very VERY pleased with my success, lost 86# in 3 months, but I've hit my first big stall since surgery and am pretty sure its exercise related.....just want to bounce this off you all to make sure my thinking is correct. I've been down 1# up 1#, going back and forth for two weeks now. I've been doing walking and eating between 800-1000 calories a day, protein first. I just had my 3 month and was told I need to start hitting the gym and lifting. Is that whats got me in the stall......not doing the lifting yet? In fairness my walks are a nice relaxed pace, I was told to do it that way right now, so its not like my cardio is that heavy. Any guidance or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
