Ok, weird stuff. I feel great, out two months and have lost 69lbs so far. A couple of days ago my belly button became quite soar though. Anyone else have this happen before?

Ok...this is weird stuff....5 weeks postop, but after I always eat my stomach makes all kinds of weird noises. I'm not in pain, I haven't had any issues up to this point, knock on wood, so what could be causing all the gurgling in my stomach now? Bathroom habits are normal....not really worried...just more curious what it could be? Anyone else have this happen or know what is causing it? Just weird is all.

When Did You Eat Salad?
Sleevorama replied to Stacey Nicole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my one month last week and like you have been tolerating everything wonderfully. My NUT said to go ahead and eat what I want now, salads and fresh fruit/vegetables included....raw or cooked. Just make sure to chew really well. I am having my first salad tonight....so we'll see how it goes. -
16 Days Since Surgery And I Want To Eat Something!
Sleevorama replied to lovesmomos's topic in Food and Nutrition
I know exactly what you mean.....but just be prepared....eating normal food will be weird too. I was fully expecting once I started normal foods thing would be smooth sailing....and they kind of have been since I haven't really had complications or anything I couldn't eat, but eating has gone from an enjoyable endeavor to a chore. With my unhealthy relationship with food I wouldn't go back to the other for all the tea in China....but it does take some getting used to. I was on liquids for 2 wks, and then mushies for 2 weeks, which I'm still on....but I have been having the random pickle and chicken. Pickles absolutely filled my craving to crunch and chew and swallow...they were a life saver. Just make sure you can take a pickle and don't overload since they are FILLED with sodium. -
Obviously I had an unhealthy relationship with food if I needed to get this surgery, and something needed to change. Granted I'm only 3 weeks out but even eating my mushiness feels like a chore. Anyone else get this feeling? Does it pass?

Eating Is A Chore Now!
Sleevorama replied to Sleevorama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all for the feedback and support! On another note, it was probably bad, but I ate a pickle today....it was AWESOME! Tasted so good and my sleeve apparently loved it. For lunch I had cream of chicken soup......my sleeve didn't love that so much. I'm just stoked about pickles, I know a lot of sodium, but in moderation those should be ok at 3 weeks shouldn't they? -

Nephrectomy, One Kidney Concerns
Sleevorama replied to Artichokes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, kind of, lol. I haven't been able to do the shakes or fruit drinks or anything yet.....they have been the only thing that make me ill. Now, that being said, I am only 3 wks out of surgery and my NUT said it was not uncommon in the first month to not be able to hit the required protein. I eat Greek yogurt, and pureed bean soups and such so I can get some protein in, but as far as someone telling me to limit my intake, haven't heard that yet. -
Nephrectomy, One Kidney Concerns
Sleevorama replied to Artichokes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Howdy! I was sleeved on 3/14 and came through with flying colors. I have only one kidney due to a birth defect, and it was a big concern for me as well. I asked everyone, my surgeon, my general doc, my Gastro doc, my NUT. They all said there shouldn't be any issues and I'm now down 43lbs! I would still ask and make your surgeon aware to see if they have concerns, but I'm good! Good luck -
WOHOO!!! You're my hero! I have 5 days till my mushy phase and LOVE homemade egg salad. I will be making this on day one of my mushy!

Ok, it took 6 days for the rear drive to get back in gear after surgery. Now that it is...it's *ahem* coming out like it should from the front drive.....does that make sense? Tryin to be as un-gross as possible. Is this a normal problem? Could it also be coinciding with me quitting my pain meds?

Between my pre-op diet and the 4 days since my surgery I have lost 30lbs. To me that's huge! I put on some regular clothes for the first time since surgery to go out with the family.....I then proceeded to cry with elation over the fact my favorite tshirt fit different....enough that the wife was even in awe how much better it hung on me. I was very very happy, but was the crying due to the hormone imbalance, or do others feel so full of joy after a moment like that they have had similar experiences?

What'a Your Favorite Sweet Treat/
Sleevorama replied to kayte819's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know...I was instructed by my doctor to take a Calcium supplement 3 times a day. I was sceptical at first, expecting the ones she told me to get would be mediciny, but they taste like a carmel candy...I think they're awesome and they kind of fill my sweet tooth need. They have 4 flavors, Milk chocolate, Caramel, Rasberry, and Chocolate Mint. I have only tried the Caramel since that is one of my favorite candy types...and they are AWESOME!!! They are called Viactiv. Now, when I went to my pharmacy to get them they had there Walgreen's store brand on the shelf right next to them for a lot cheaper. I tried those and they taste like a candy. Anyways, hope that helps. http://www.viactiv.com/calcium-soft-chews -
When Did You Start Protein Drinks After Surgery?
Sleevorama replied to desertmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They made me try one in the hospital the day after my surgery, it made me ill. On day three after I got home I tried again with serious heartburn after 2 or 3 sips. I'm supposed to get in as much as I can right now, they know it won't be all I need immediately, but I also think I am going to switch to the more fruity type, like Nectar or whatever its called.....I have a feeling those will sit easier with me than the protein shakes. I tried them before surgery as well and just couldn't dig the choclate, vanilla, or strawberry shakes. Maybe I'm weird.
