Fantastic!! Glad all of that hard work is paying off!
-
Marjon, just curious, but living in MD, what was your reason for going to Colorado? I had my lap band done in MD.
-
Hi Goldie, Where at in Maryland, were you banded? Most likely not on the Eastern Shore, though? I was banded in Salisbury, Md. on 2/14.

You all sound as though you are really motivated and doing great! It helps to read all of these posts, get ideas, and hear that you are not alone in this endeavor. The liquid stage is hard, and like I said, I love all of your food ideas!

I lost some hair too, and was told it was not getting enough protein that was doing it. I am trying to be very faithful to the protein drinks, and things don't seem as bad.

Help with the MUSHIES
LeeInDe. replied to shelley00's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here, Same here! Been feeling the same way. Guess what? When I had my psych consult, she told me that depression is a normal thing after the surgery, and not to be too upset about it. I did go through it. Now that I am finally feeling better, and getting out and doing things, it is going away. I also was very aware of my port, and felt it to be uncomfortable. It seemed that every time I bent over, it wanted to pop out! It also felt as if there was no room for it in my abdomen. That too is now resolving, and maybe healing has something to do with it. But, it is getting better, 3 weeks later. Oh yeah, I started at the gym the other day, and I do believe that will be a big help to me! -
Do I really have to give up Diet Coke
LeeInDe. replied to JackSpratsWife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too was a diet coke-aholic. Was told to give it up for the same reasons, and also that is just not good for you....osteoporosis and all that. I have not tried it since surgery, feel as though it is not worth it. I have switched to Wylers and Crystal Light teas. -
I am still supposed to be on pureed foods, (surgery 2/14), and have also had some very soft foods. Still hungry...my only problem is that if I try to swallow too big of a bite, it can get stuck, then there is the pain, and possibly vomiting. Did that twice, hate to reapeat it! I had a bruise at my port area, and felt like I was kicked by a few mules post-op, but everything is healing up nicely. At least I am not alone in the hungry part!

Wow, teacher, that is great! We were banded on the same day, and I am hungry! Don't feel much restriction. This is going to be hard month ahead of me. Good for you, I have not lost near that much weight. -
I too have been drining faster than I was told to. My fill is not until the end of March, so I better get my act together! Still hungry, in both ways, Every morning I tell myself that I can do this, then later start to feel the resolve slip away. Come on Lee, you gotta make this work!

I too have had the pain under the left ribs, and in the left shoulder. I was put back on my pain meds, which seems to help. Today, 1 week and two days after surgery, is the first day I have not had the pain. I asked my doctor about it today, and he felt that gas or trapped air only hurts for a day or two, but it may be some drainage that is irritating the phrenic nerve. I gained 10 lbs. after my choley. in November. I was told it was all of the IV fluids I had gotten.

I am glad you are giving it another try. I keep telling myself that we put too much into this to give up. I am constantly worried that I will do the wrong things and not lose weight. This is no magic pill, and I am really trying to keep that in mind, even though I am hungry! Good luck to you with a different doctor and therapist.

I know, I am hungry too. Had my first post op appt. today, and have been increased to puree's. Now, I feel I could eat anything. I won't have my first fill until the end of March. I am really worried about weight gain now. -
Hmmmm....Kirstie Alley and Anna Nicole. Never thought about that. Makes me wonder. Oh yeah, you know who else I now wonder about? Have you ever watched Reba? One of the co-stars; Mellisa Peterman, who plays Barbara Jean, left the season heavy, and came back very lean. I wonder if she had any surgery?

I am glad someone asked what NSV meant! I have lots to learn. That is great, sometimes better than the scale itself, good for you.

That's interesting. I too believe I am more aware of it now, and also of the obesity problem that many people face. Glad I had it done.

One more day...........

Good Luck to you! You will have to let us know how you are doing! -
So, some folks do stay in overnight, huh? And the other wow, is: that is cool that you feel good enough to be in the computer, and wow, that you have internet in your hospital room! How cool. Good luck, enjoy the rest!

Hey Mike, You sure are right about that! And that is what we were facing if we kept at this pace. My BMI was 31.5 right before surgery, so I was worried I might not pass, but I did. Hubby is about your height; 6'2", and was facing a few more health issues, so I don't want to scare him off, with any probems I have! He knows that everyone reacts differently to surgeries, but he has been watching me waging war the past few days with terrible pains in my left ribs radiating into the shoulder. I was hoping to stay off the pain meds, but oh well, this too shall pass! Oh yeah, and the constant hunger! I hope I can get over that eventually. Good luck to you, I saw that you had your surgery the day after mine, and are already back to work! My job is very physical, and I could not imagine even trying to work yet.

I was banded last week, and my husband is in the 6 month process now. He is doing it along with a co-worker. The only problem with him following me, is that he and his co-worker are watching any problems I have and are worrying that the same things could happen to them!~

Holy Geez did I ever get the ball rolling!
LeeInDe. replied to TheCascadian's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on getting your surgery date, that is half the battle. I am still looking for great liquid foods. My problem is that I get tired of them so quickly. I looked at some of the fancier soups that are creamy. There are many good ideas and recipes here if you look around. Good luck! -
Hi and welcome. Go over the many posts here that contain many of the answers you are looking for. Also remember that not all people have the same problems if any problems at all. Good luck to you.
-
Welcome to you! I hope al of your problems will be resolved in the easiest manner. There are other posts here that pertain to port turning. You may want to look at them.
-
I am glad you were finally approved. It was worrisome for me too, and I was not sure I was going to surgery until the day before. I was banded last week, and am hoping it was one of the best decisions I ever made! I too had to give up Diet Coke, and really do miss it!

Will my surgeon put the port on the side I want him to?
LeeInDe. replied to kyethra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My port is on the right side.........why? I do not know, did not even realize that most have it on the left side. So good luck, see no reason not to put it in the right side!
