  1. I am waiting for both of those things to happen! But then again, I have not been at this as long as you all!

    February 2007 bandsters!

Oh Tracy, Geeze, when will it end? I had never heard of a yeast infection lasting that long. I have never had the thrush in the mouth, just a few of the down below varieties. They usually followed antibiotic use for me, last one in November after my gall bladder surgery. What a mess, I can not understand why they don't go away, I am so sorry about that.

You missed me!! I was banded on 2/14, also. Thanks!

To weigh or not to weigh

Silry.....I like your weigh in the evening idea! Now, for what I was told. Are you going to the fitness center? If so, there may be no weight loss for awhile, while the lean muscle is being made. Muscle weighs more than fat, so that could be a reason. I am hoping that is the case for me!

    February 2007 bandsters!

Nope, I agree, no regrets...maybe we just thought this would be so easy, right from the begining. I know that I thought at least that the surgery part would be a breeze, because I had my gall bladder removed in Novemeber, and the surgery and recovery went so well, no pain, easy to move around, blah, blah. Even same type of surgery, (laproscopic). Never had the gas type pain, (Kerr's Sign), either. So, will work on this, and it will get better for us!!!
  7. I woke up a lot clearer than I did after the choley is November. I did really start coughing, though, then had stress incontinence! Sheese! No pain, though, but I don't remember much after that, but I think I woke up and was ready to go home, pretty quickly.

    February 2007 bandsters!

Woo Hoo, a party!!! I like that idea.....especially if it involves a trip, and one to nicer weather! For some reason, we did not get snow all winter, and today in the mid Atlantic states we are on our way to a nice snow storm! I still get the rib and shoulder pain on occasion, and it still hurts, but much better than before. Kathy, I still felt like you do a week ago, so just think it will get better. I know, I think of my poor husband, going through the 6 month pre-op hoop jumping, and my aches and pains are scaring him! Also the still hungry part is making him think twice about going through with it. I hope things get better with the first fill, then he will see that it is still worth it!
  9. GB removed in November, 3 months prior to lap band. I did not have classic symptoms. Occasional attack, 4 over 2 years. No right upper quad pain, intho shoulder. Mine was located in stomach area, and felt as though my stomach was going to blow up. Sometimes vomiting helped. Usually eased off after about 1 hour, and happened after a heavy meal.

A lot of us over time, have come to believe that psych people may be; "not all there". Kat-maybe she was a ghost whisperer! I don't remember being asked some of those questions, but I do remember us yakking, and I think it got to the point that she started telling me her problems! LOL
  11. Hi Teacher, I got to thinking about GB surgery post op problems, and found this info. I stand corrected......... http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/gallstones/ for some reason, I could not copy and paste the paragraph. Scroll down to the last two paragraph's under the title Surgery; on that page.

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hi Teacher, oh no, I was thinking of my Kerr's sign pain, and not right sided GB pain. How long ago was your gall bladder removed? I thought that there was a limit to the time that a stone could get stuck after removal, but then again it has been a long time since school. (Nursing). If a stone is stuck in the duct, that could need immediate attention, I would think. Get it looked into as quick as you can. Oh yeah, a pity party sounds like a very good idea!!

    February 2007 bandsters!

I understand, I have been hungry too, and also been feeling sorry for myself quite a bit! It helps to be able to vent, so keep on venting. I do think that as time goes by, you really do begin to feel better, both physically, and psychologically. I know that for the first week and 1/2 at least, I did only what was require by me to keep the house going, and spent a great deal of the rest of the day, sitting with my lap top. I am beginning to get over that, and going to the fitness center, much as I hate to say it, has been a good thing.

    A Wonderful Nsv

Wow is right! That is some kid. My kids are cool, but have never done anything like that. But then again they are boys................LOL

    Omentectomy

Boy, that does sound like a good idea. I was wishing when they did the band, that they would suck out a bunch of fat while they were in there!

    February 2007 bandsters!

SynicalChick, I can not believe you went back to work less than one week after surgery! I would not have been able to do that. It took almost 2 weeks for me to feel normal. Now I am ready to go back to work. I figured once I started working out at the fitness center, I was ready to go back. I bet your tongue is a mess! Keep up with the meds, I believe yeast infections may be a little slower to heal than bacterial infections, that get strong antibiotics, not for sure though, it is hear to dredge up some things I learned way back when! Good luck to you, don't do too much at work!

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hi, did the blood clots result from the surgery? Have you had you blood clotting times checked recently? I don't know much, but if your blood is to thin, that could cause bleeding elsewhere. Get it checked into.

    February 2007 bandsters!

Teacher, I too was banded on the 14th, and have had terrible pains in my left ribs, and left shoulder. My doctor thought that since it lasted so much longer, that maybe some fluid seeped up, and had been rubbing the phrenic nerve, instead of gas. I eventually went back on pain pills. Gone now, but still have a few twinges. SynicalChick I figured you most likely had a yeast infection. Antibiotics can do that, along with vaginal yeast infections. Glad you called the doc, and got something for it........

    Everything is ok!

I am glad to hear that. We need to have some good news once in awhile. Yippee!

    Bandster with first time problem

You know, I found out too that the good for you foods are the hardest to get down, and the softer foods are usually more fatteneing. Can't win for losing! Yeah, and not losing weight!

    Catastrophic Slippage

Holy Cow! That is quite an event! I am glad that you posted your story, and you told it so eloquently. It was very easy to follow and understand. I am also very sorry you had to go through all of that, and do appreciate your sharing it with us. Hopefully, the surgery and continued weight loss will work to your benefit, and you get good results, after all you deserve it!

    What Have Been Your Experience?

I am not losing, either. Since the initial 13 lb. loss, I have not lost anymore. No fills yet, and can pretty much still eat more than I should. I am not eating as much however, and am going to the fitness center. I am praying after a fill, things will get better, because this is a bit discouraging.
  23. My pain was under my left rib cage, and up into the left side of my neck. I lasted 1 week and 2 days. It got progressively worse as the days went by. It did come and go. After 8 days, my husband called the nurse in charge of the office, and she told me to go back on the pain meds, and that seemed to help. My doctor told me that he felt it might be from some drainage that seeped up, and was irritating the phrenic nerve, that runs along the diaphragm, (since it was lasting so long.) It is gone now, but do have an occasional twinge.
  24. I have not tried any carbonated drinks or my favorite; Diet Coke since the surgery. So, not sure how it would go down. Think I will wait on finding out! I have vomited three times, now. And it is always from taking too big a bite of something, then immediately realizing it, but then it is too late. You all are right.....lots of slime! Wasn't sure what slime meant prior to that.
  25. Same boat here. Food was always my friend, or so it seemed. Food was there, when no one else was. I have to rethink that, and hopefully, it is a first month thing, along with the depression. I drage myself around the house all morning, and don't get anything done, then trying to catch up in the afternoon.
