Banded 2/27/07 - burping, belching, gas (sorry)
LeeInDe. replied to EllieMay's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think it does depend a lot on what and when you eat. I find myself burping a lot more than I used to. I suspect that may get better in time, too......... -
Interesting. Is he a radio announcer, or something of that sort?
-
I agree with myfoursons and waterlily. It is called kerrs sign, and is caused by irritation to the phrenic nerve that runs along the diaphram. I had that pain for a few weeks, and between the gas, and some possible seepage from fluid, it was very annoying. Good luck, it will pass. I went back on pain meds when it kicked up, per my doctor's oreders.

I am rather new here, but I wanted to say that you are an inspiration for us strugglers! Your pictures look great, and you have come a long way!
-
I have not had that problem as of yet, but my heart goes out to you, and I am sorry that you have to travel so far to see your doctor. I wish the very best for you, and hope all works out for you very soon!

I would be careful if I were you. Gall Bladder attacks are nasty, and make you very sick. You can only tolerate a few of them before you cry uncle! If you doctor recomends you to have it taken out, I would listen to him. Gall stones getting stuck in the duct is terrible and can lead to some serious complications.

Does your body go into shock after banding?
LeeInDe. replied to bunnykin4u's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I think quite a few of us are going through that. I was banded the same day as you, and same type of weight loss as you. Really at a standstill now. I think you are right, the body is conserving energy, and holding onto that weight. In the past I have noticed that if I eat a little more one day, it spurs me into losing a lb. or two. Maybe that is just me, though. -
I don't know much, but it does sound too tight. I have also read here that the saliva increase is normal in those circumstances. Good luck!
-
It did take almost 3 weeks to get back to normal for me. I went back to work in 3 weeks, and am glad I did not try to go back sooner. I did not feel the band, but the port was bothersome for some time. It felt as though it did not belong there, and when I sneezed, it felt as though it wanted to pop out. Now, I am going to the gym, and doing well with that. Been able to lift the heavy objects at work, and have enough stamina to get through that day. Hang in there!
-
Frank, that is so nice to say, it sounds like something my husband would say. How did you both do with recover, considering you were both done on the same day? Did you make contingencies in case one of you or both of you had problems? I am happy for you, and you both deserve it.............

I wonder why you were told to avoid oatmeal. I am pretty sure that is the only cereal my doctor wants me to eat. Most other cereals are full of sugar. I buy the tub of instant oats, add water, splenda, and cinnamon to it, and that works great for me. Oatmeal is supposed to reduce bad cholesterol, and cinnamon is good for maintaing blood sugar levels. And it is also a soft food. Anyone else have any ideas?

Yes, it does help to hear that other people are in the same boat. Or then again, is it misery loves company? Most likely not, as it is also good to hear that the others are now doing better, after going through a rough patch, too. I am so bummed though, as I was finally beginning to feel good, back to normal, doing good things, taking vitamins, protein, going to the gym, eating better, and now I have one heck of a cold! Boy am I sick! Sheese, guess a couple more days then I will be back..........
-
I agree, I agree! Still always hungry, no fill until the 23rd, and can eat almost anything! I want to lose too, I keep hoping that going to the gym helps. Yeah, how are you, Synicalchick?
-
Maybe it was Promethesine, (sp), which is the generic for phenergan.
-
I can drink water pretty fast. Geeze, can not wait for first fill!
-
Yup, I was banded on the 2/14, and now hubby is jumping through the hoops for his surgery. Somewhere there is another post about family banding, here.
-
Oh, you all are just too funny! I loved those last couple of comments! I think it would be fun to play with the psych eval, and see what happens.......only if it would not interfere with our future banding! Connie, my eval. was a lot like yours. I actually liked the evaluator. I also had to pay 100.00 cash. faithmd. I wonder why you have to take it again. You know, you have a right as far as I know to see your evaluation. Was thinking of asking to see mine.

Hi Marylanders! I live on the state line, but just over the line in De. We live just outside of OC, MD. However, no one seems to be showing up from De. I was wondering if anyone in this group lives on the Eastern Shore? I bet not..... If so, though, let me know, because that is where I am.
-
I saw that some people here went back to work within a few days. Don't know how they did that! I took 3 weeks off. I have to lift and carry heavy things, and was afraid that they might hit the port site, and that would not be good. I only went back 2 days ago, and all is going well.

What's the worst thing someone said to you?
LeeInDe. replied to annieM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Everyone of those comments make me ill. How can people be like that? They say what goes around, comes around, but I am still waiting to see that. My brother asked me last summer if one cheesecake would be enough for me. I believe most comments are made behind my back. -
That's the first thing that came to my mind too, the things used to prop their eyes open!
-
Possible to PB often, but feel like you have no restriction?
LeeInDe. replied to Maurdan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am glad that someone else used the word; "confusing"! I too can easily it soft, bad foods, while the better foods that I have to chew and chew do not always agree with me. I chew until it tastes too yucky to swallow, then if no one is around, I spit it out! I need the bad for you foods to be too chewy to eat! -
Yup, she is thoughtless, and it is a shame she has a supervisor position. Also a shame that such flawed individuals have such a position!

You all look fantastic! What a lovely picture.
