I had my gall bladder surgery in November 06. He did not want to do the two surgeries together, but some do. My gall bladder surgery went much better than the banding. No pain, no gas, was active from day one! He used different sites for each surgery.

I had my first fill today!!! Weird, I could feel it going in. He stated that a lot of people can feel the first one. I got 1 cc. He told me I did not need a fill, and I stated that I am very hungry, and it takes a lot to become full, so maybe that is why he did it? Has anyone ever gotten more than one cc the first time? I had no problems eating soup right after the fill.........

I am glad you are doing much better, and getting stronger. A good thing that you were most likely healthy to begin with. If one good things comes out of this, at least you lost some weight! Good luck to you!

Stomach/Churning question....confused
LeeInDe. replied to hotpink_bubbles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is a good question. I take small bites, and chew forever. Have found that some meat I chew, gets gross after awhile and I end up spitting it out. Gross, huh? Not sure where the full digestion starts, though. -
WOW, What a horrible thing to have happened. I am glad you shared your story, and too am glad that you were in the hospital overnight when it happened. I hope you continue to get well, and you will have the oportunity to make the decision about WLS again.

I was switched to full liquids in 4 days..............

There has been a recent thread about this somewhere. If you do a search you should find it. Anyway, I was outpatient, and a lot of others were too. Some did stay overnight, though.

I know, I hate abs, too. Funny thing is, I was more sore after abs, then I was after my first work out. The trainer is fantastic. The fitness center is attached to the bariatric center, one of the perks of the program. She works everyone at their own level, and seems to know which direction to go with everyone.

Another good one, maybe I should try that one!
-
Will have to show that one to hubby!
-
Wow, good luck to you and your daughter! Let us know how you all make out.

Oh that is way too funny, thanks I loved it!

I can feel mine. Can't see any indication of it, but deep down, there it is. Let you know how easy it is to hit tomorrow when I get my first fill!!!

Have you looked into getting some tests run yet?

Just think, maybe not a bikini, or skin tight body suits, but boy will you look good in a pair of jeans and a tucked in shirt someday! That is what I am looking forward to, just tucking in a shirt, or wearing cute little sweaters is what I dreaming of right now!

Loss of a good friend by her choice
LeeInDe. replied to juliegeraci's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow, this happens to other people too? I made a fantastic friend back in nursing school, in the late 70's. Best friends, and all of that. Had our kids at the same times. Back in 1997, she stopped comunicating with me, and I have not talked to her in a few years now. But for the longest time I would call her, email, write, and apologize for something that I had no idea what it was I had done. She would never tell me, and to this day I still miss her and dream about her on occasion! -
I was allowed to start at the gym one week after banding. However, the personal trainer is oriented in our surgeries, and knows how to work with post op pt's. I started on a pretty normal routine, but I had to wait 5 weeks before working abs.

I felt like I was kicked by a mule for 2 days. Then it eased off. Was stiff for a little while, and the port felt weird, but that is all gone, now. Good luck, things will get better, and do sit around and pamper yourself when not taking that nice walk!

Hurray for you! Welcome, to the bandland!

What were your incisions closed with?
LeeInDe. replied to faithmd's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Steri Strips for me, and for the gall bladder surgery. Seemed to work well, we will see about the scars. Wonder why so many different things are used? -
We have a dive team here, and I was asked to take the classes to get up to the Rescue Diver. Have not done that yet, but even with all I have seen, I really have no desire to be the one that comes face to face with that body under the water! I think I will be the guy that stays in the boat, marking off the area.........

I am starving, but have been all along. My portions are smaller, though. I get my first fill on Friday, and can not wait!

Good luck to you. I imagine the way those wafers melt in your mouth that it will be no problem. Bread is an entirely different story. Good luck to you!

First timer here-hello to all
LeeInDe. replied to conno1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello and Welcome to all! Good luck to you, and I am sure you are making a great decision. It is very hard to consider such a step, but once you do, you will be happy you did it. I only wish I would have done it sooner in my life, and not wasted all those years with yo yo dieting, to find myself heavier each time I gained it back. Let us know how you make out!
