  1. I asked my surgeon this very question and he mentioned at LEAST one year out... You have you give your body time to fully recover and I am sure that you want to be able to eat a normal healthy diet and be at a healthy weight before conceiving.. I will be 38 in September and I don't have any children either. I actually went back on the pill 2 months after surgery because I wanted to make sure I didn't get pregnant during my "slimming down" stage. I have a wonderful man in my life and am looking forward to trying maybe sometime next year.... after I get married... of course..... LOL Best of Luck!

Maybe you should broaden your horizons.... and friendships!! just sayin!

    Beer - Ouch

I'm with the others..... I don't do carbonation.... just doesn't sit well at all... Plus, there is nothing healthy about sugar or carb laden malt beverages... whether it be wine coolers, beer, etc.... If anything, why don't you enjoy a nice glass of red wine??

    Travel

Yes! You will be fine.. I flew non-stop from San Diego to Baltimore one week after my surgery and I was good to go!! Hell, at 4 weeks I was out running, doing yardwork, etc...... Best of Luck!!

    No Straw Ever!

I drink with straws if I am out at a restaurant but it's minimal because I don't drink a lot with my meals....
  7. It's a great feeling!!! Today is my 4 month anniversary and I am down 78 lbs!! I totally agree that this has been the best decision I have ever made!! Congrats on your success!!!! It's only gonna get better!! YAY!!
  8. Here is the link.... I purchase from ebay though.... MUCH cheaper!!! http://www.spanx.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2990106&cp=12635685.12637235&parentPage=family
  9. I took my Spanx with me to Mexico when I had my surgery in April.. I also packed mostly maxi dresses... I can't tell you enough how glad I was to have my Spanx!! I wear the Higher Power that come up to my bra and go to my mid-thigh.. Plus, they have a split crotch which is just soooooo convenient!! They gave me the support that I needed without the tightness of a true compression garment. Plus, I had a drain and my Spanx held it in place wonderfully!!! I have always been an avid Spanx wearer because the really do smooth out my "kibbles and bits" and truly feel like a 2nd skin!! Love Them!!
  10. I was sleeved April 16th and am lucky to get down 1/2 of a lean cuisine..... I'm not counting carbs, calories, etc... but I still try to eat protein rich foods. I don't weigh my food but from my guessing I can eat about 3/4-1 cup of food in one setting. The more protein the less I eat.... Also... I am rarely hungry.... but I eat 4-5 times a day just to make sure I am getting my nutrients and keeping my metabolism in gear!

    Restaurant "id" Cards?

Like the others.... I have one as well... Talks about the procedure that I have had, it has my picture on it, my surgery day weight, Dr. info, etc... It's actually a very nice card... BUT.... never had to use it... I look at it as a souvenier and a reminder of my surgery day.
  13. You are stalling..... it happens to everyone and usually hits 3-4 weeks post-op Did you measure yourself??? When I stalled, I lost the most inches! I will be 4 months out on Thursday and I am down almost 80 lbs and have lost 10 inches each on my hips, waist AND chest.... So, 30 inches and 80 lbs in 4 months?? yeah.. I'll take it!! You WILL start losing again... TRUST ME!!! Your body is playing catch up... Stop worrying and just keep doing what you are doing..... the weight will come off!!

    Bad Acid Reflux

that is the only side effect that I have had from my surgery.... Try some Mylanta before bedtime.. It coats your stomach and should provide you some relief. Also, I keep Tumms on hand for quick relief..... Good Luck!

Self Pay Cost In Central Pa

I am right on the border of PA and MD and I was looking at prices from 15-25k.... CRAZY!!! I went to Mexico and didn't look back... My surgeon, Dr. Ariel Ortiz is one of the best and my experience was nothing short of amazing. I can honestly say I wasn't nervous a single second.... Best decision I ever made and best money ($7000) I ever spent!!!! If you want more info feel free to visit his website... www.obesitycontrolcenter.com Good Luck!!!

    What Vitamins Do You Take?

I never had an issue with taking pills and the Vitamins are normal sized pills from what I have seen. Even though it says to take 4 I take 1 or 2 daily and I also take an additional B12 and Vitamin D supplement that I get online from Andrew Lessman. The capsules are small, about 1/2 the size of Enspira. Andrew Lessman also makes a hair, Skin and Nails supplement that I swear by! My nails have never looked better, my skin is glowing and I have had very minimal hair loss.

    Bananas!

I loved bananas as well but it's one thing that I cannot tolerate since my surgery. No allergy or reasoning behind it. A lot of folks taste buds change once they have their surgeries... It's almost like learning how to eat again. I used to love leftovers and had no problem eating foods that were 1 or 2 days old.. Now??? forget about it....

    Potassium

Try drinking some Vitamin Water Zero, Powerade Zero or Gaterade G2. It really helped to keep me hydrated after surgery and has the added potassium that you need.

    Bananas!

ohhhhh.......... and I thought I was the only one... I loved bananas prior to surgery.. I used to make smoothies, slice them up on my cereal, etc.... If I eat a banana now or even anything banana flavored it comes up with the quickness!! LOL I definitely cannot tolerate them.. I even had to throw out my strawberry banana protein powder!!! NO CAN DO!!!
  21. I'm on that sucker every day!! Sometimes twice a day! LOL Mentally I know the weight isn't going to fall off and I am okay with that.... Hell, we didn't gain it overnight so we sure as hell aren't gonna lose it overnight... Some folks have to hide their scales because they get depressed when they see it not going down but just get your mind right and understand the process... I LOVE MY SCALE!!
  22. So... my surgery was April 16th and it's been about a month since I have measured myself... I am happy to report that 10 inches have fallen off my Hips, Waist AND Chest!!! So, 30 inches in just those 3 key areas!! I am so happy that I am losing inches evenly!!! I was a good size 24/26 and am now fitting comfortably in a size 18... YAY!! Did I mention that I LOVE MY SLEEVE!!! Best decision I have EVER made and best money I have EVER spent!!!!

    Is This Weird ?

It's really Dr. specific... I've read that some patients don't have any pre-op diet.. Just nothing the night before.... Consider yourself a lucky one.....

    No Hair Loss?

Hair Loss usually hits at months 3-4. I will be 4 months post-op August 16th and while I have noticed some shedding it's not bad at all... I have fine hair but it's thick if that makes sense.. I recently got about 4 inches chopped off so maybe that helped!

    Just Measured Myself! Wow!

Just basic toning (free weights. sit-ups, etc..) at home... I am not a gym freak and the only cardio I get is yard work and some walking here and there...
