Skin! Does It Shrink?
barrbdoll replied to sleevemeup's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are soooooo many variables here..... Age, children, smoking, and just plain overall genetics play a HUGE part... At my highest I was 332lbs but I am also 5'10 and even though I carried a good amount in my belly area it was pretty evenly spread out. I never smoked nor had any children and I am soon to be 38 years old. I am down 85 lbs since the middle of March and yes... my girls took a hit. I was a 46D before surgery and am now a 40D. Even though my cup has stayed the same they have definitely shrunk. When I try on my old bras I cant even come close to filling them up. Weird how bra sizing works.. Still a D but smaller?? But that is my case... Now as far as other areas of my body.. I had some stretch marks (small ones - not deep or very noticeable) on my upper thighs, hips and belly as well as a few tiny ones around my tops of my breasts and upper arm right in the crease area where my arm meets my armpit. These are the areas that I am noticing a loss of elasticity however it's not gross..well not to me. Just not what I like to see. I have been using toning bands post-op and have done crunches pretty much every day since about 2 months post-op. When you have 100lbs to lose it's almost impossible NOT to have some saggy skin somewhere. Excess skin was one of my biggest fears as well but with 85lbs off of me I am delighted with how my body is transforming!! I definitely feel that some plastics will be in my future whether it be a tummy tuck, liposculpt, lower body lift, boob lift, etc.... I am definitely open to those types of procedures but I want to hit my goal and determine if I want to have a child or not. I will be 38 soon so time is ticking.. I can see myself getting some nips and tucks done in about 3 years.... Good Luck! -
Tylenol IS acetaminophen and it's okay to take... Midol and Pamprin I thought were NSAID's which is what you want to stay away from....

I had my surgery on a Monday, was discharged on Tuesday and went back to the hotel and was laying out by the pool! Wednesday I spent about 4-5 hours shopping.... Had no issues at all... No Gas, No Nausea and other than soreness there was no pain! Best decision I have ever made and best money I have ever spent! Good Luck!

Three Weeks After Surgery, How Much Should I Lose
barrbdoll replied to ssgtko's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You are doing just fine but you need to reverse how you eat... Protein first!! Always!! Good Luck! -
Ask your Dr. but I would say cardio after 3 -4 weeks and no heavy lifting/crunches until 6 weeks. Of course walking and light tonight (arms & legs) shouldn't be a problem now. But always seek advice from your surgeon. Good Luck!

I am 4 1/2 months post-op and I can eat pretty much anything too.... I still eat smaller portions but I sit with my family and friends while they all eat "regular" portions and I am just fine with that.. I will savor my few bites of great food and be totally satisfied and content. This is a mental journey just as much as a physical one! Best of Luck!

Darned Acid - Anyone Else?
barrbdoll replied to DEZ1975's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just the regular extra strength ones.... They provide more of an instant relief... I take otc generic zantac 150 twice a day as well but definitely suggest chewing on some Tumms when needed. Good Luck! -
Wow... Sushi is one of my faves but I like the rolls versus sashimi... I am lucky to get 3 pieces of a roll down now though.... LOL Prior to surgery I could eat 2-3 whole rolls!! Love me some sushi!!!!!

Gone To Mexico Alone?
barrbdoll replied to butter-fly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery in Mexico and while my mother went with me I would have totally done it by myself.. There were 2 other ladies that had their surgery the same day as me and they were by themselves... Not sure which surgeon you are using or where you are staying but I was in the Marriott in Tijuana and my stay was very comfortable. Best of Luck! -

Question: Inches Vs Pounds
barrbdoll replied to Willow216's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm 4 1/2 months out from surgery and when I graduated from High School I was 235. I am down 83 lbs now and weighing in at 249. I tried on my senior prom dress last weekend and it's too big so YES!! Inches do come off quicker... Plus, our body shapes change over time. I know mine definitely has! I am also losing evenly which is good.. I have lost 10 inches on my bust, chest and hips for a total of 30 inches in just those 3 key areas!!! I am LOVIN my sleeve!!!! -
I have a weight watchers scale and it works just fine.... $49.00
-
Congrats!! April 16th here and I hit an 80lb loss on Saturday!!! (17lbs pre-op)
-
Extremely Normal....... Usually folks hit a stall about 3 weeks out.... Just keep doing what you are doing and your weight loss will start back up again... This happens to pretty much everyone! My advice to you is if you haven't already done it.... measure yourself ASAP! When you stall you lose inches!! Good Luck!

I started taking Andrew Lessman's Hair Skin & Nails formula which you can buy online for about $30.00... I SWEAR by this stuff and I have had minimal hair loss and my nails look fabulous!! There is a good amount of Biotin in the product along with other ingredients.... Hair loss normally starts about 3-4 months post-op... I am 4 months and 3 days and while I see an increase of hair in my brush I haven't really noticed any thinness.... If I am losing hair more hair is growing in right behind it....

I wasn't on birth control before but I started it one month after my surgery to make sure I didn't get pregnant while I was losing..... They say you become more fertile when you lose weight and I didn't want to take any chances.....
