I had my lapband placed 01/15/2008 in VA (not by Dr. Kennedy). I seemed to do well with it for about the first year, than moved back home to TX. Following that I was either too tight or too lose, there was no sweet spot for me. I would have to sit up in order not to choke at night, had to meet my Dr in the ER, have upper GI (3), EDG, etc. I would leave the office after a fill with restriciton a week later I would be so tight water was a struggle. I was so determined to make my band work but had finally come to realize it simply wasnt going to be successful for me. In Dec I went to see my Doctor, I had gained weight (pf course, my band was unfilled) and it was almost 15 pounds in a few months, it was enough to be sent over for approval. I was told to go and get my NUT, mental eval, etc. I wanted until Feb to do this, I really had to make sure I wanted to make this change. I was so torn because yes the band had to come out but I had the band for the reasons of it being reversable, not something that would change my insides, taking out my stomach really freaked me out. I also needed to pray and come to terms with the idea. I finally decided for sure, it was what I wanted to do. After a little over a week after doing my required appts I got an approved. Surgery was set for March 12, one week clear liquid diet and I was scared until I got to the hospital and was put under. I am now 6 days out and still sore. I have made 2 trips to the store, when I say this, it means I am walking slowly but did it. I have made sure to walk 2 times a day and plan to go back to work tomorrow. I am not 100% but will be soon, I have started my journey and the worst is behind me!! I thank my God, he has gotten me through it.
