Cool, well let me know what date you confirm!
-
I confirmed my date 2/22/2013 (possibility of changing to 2/21/2013) with Dr. Garcia. Anyone out there going around that time?
-
Hey GA Sleevers! I am looking for a PCP that is supportive of WLS. I live in Marietta but work in Sandy Springs. Since I am going to Mexico for my sleeve, I wanted to get checked out and possibly get the same testing that are normally done here in the states prior to surgery. Any help would be great.

Getting Sleeved Was The Best Decision Ever!

I've been following you for sometime now and I am so happy to see your changes! You look great! Keep it up. -
I am getting mine done early next year ( End of February or beginning of March). I am using my tax return to have it done so I am thinking the end of March would better. I haven't picked a surgeon yet, but I will be doing that soon.

Hey @ change, I see that you live in GA. I started my process with Titus Duncan and love the support of their practice. I would suggest that you start the process asap so you can start with testing and the approval process.. When I first started, I was told immediately that I needed a 6 month diet - because a coworker had the surgery done there and they looked at her file. Good Luck!

A Behind The Scenes Look At The New Me!

Hey, I am pre-sleeve and an active lurker at times - but I just wanted to chime in... I was in a similar situation and hope that my posting helps. My ex, was my best friend - I met him when I was 15 and just had a baby (yes, I know). Even though he was 16 and not ready to be a father, we had a great friendship and he helped me with my son whenever he could. After 7 years of unsuccessful relationships, depression, and a 80lb weight gain - he asked me to give him a chance. We started dating and I loved it. My son already had a great relationship with him, this guy already knew everything about me and accepted my flaws, and I knew it was going to work out. Well, that was until we had sex- a YEAR later!!! It was awkward and I thought it was because he was like a brother to me for so long. We both figured that it would take time to adjust and dismissed it. Well, it didn't change. We were not sexually compatible at all! I decided to keep on and try cheating. Well, I did, and cried all the way home because he was a great guy and I didn't want to hurt him. I went alone to a sex therapist, asked successful wives for their bedroom secrets, toys, etc... It took me 5 years of efforts, cheating (didnt get caught), and regrets to finally move on. I moved away - from NY to GA and guess what? He followed me! Guess what else? We had awful make-up sex and I ended up pregnant!! Oh and guess what else? I accepted his proposal. Lastly, guess what? Nothing changed. I went through my pregnancy horrible because I was salivating at the site of another man. I left him again after my daughter was born (4 months away from the wedding date) and now we are cordial, but he is still hurting. I am too- because he treated me like a queen and I know it just can't work. I feel like I blew my blessing and that I was selfish. But I know I cannot go back and hurt him again despite the fact that my love life is empty and non-existant. Don't wait until November.. I know that is a lot of money, but stringing someone (especially someone in love) along for 6 months is devastating. Plus they may SNAP! Have you seen that show? ( Snapped?) Sorry for the length!

Running Out Of Options
LezzieLez replied to janiadurl's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Trust me, I understand. Like I posted in other forums, I was initially approved for my surgery and then the company I worked for was acquired. Starting in January, we had to switch our plans to the new company's plan which totally excludes WLS. When I found this out, I already spent my tax return on paying bills off and a new car. I tore my achilles tendon in November and also recently developed heel spurs. I always had back pains from 2 different car accidents, knee pains, and a great loss of energy. I know this surgery is right for me, but at the same time - I have 2 children as well and we need to eat and the bills have to be paid!! In the meantime, I am taking water aerobics classes and building my upper body strenghth up to keep me from losing my mind. I just saw in another forum about a site for peer lending... lendingclub dot com. check that out also. -

Running Out Of Options

Well, I am not able to get approved for a loan at this moment and have decided to hold the money I have saved up and use my tax return in Jan/Feb 2013 for the surgery. I also have a co-signor that is willing to help, but think it would be easier on me financially to just pay it in full. Do you anticipate a decent size tax return? I think you would considering that you purchased a home and did heavy renovations. -
Congratulations!! I know this may not help much because you want something off the rack, but have you seen the dresses on igigi . com? I absolutely love the entire line and the sizes are more in line with normal clothing.

I am sorry that I wasn't much help in answering your question - I am pre-op.. http://www.gastricsleeve.us/gastric-sleeve-post-surgery-diet.html I know from reading the posts on the boards that different surgeons have different post-op diets and the length of the phases differ as well. My surgeon told me Clear Liquids for a week, full liquids for 2 weeks, mushy/soft foods/blended foods for 2 weeks and regular foods starting my 6th week. Keep checking in the forum, I am sure you will find some ideas as well.

Wow! 44lbs in 3 weeks? That is great! How is your energy level?

I'm Already Sexy.. Should I Get The Surgery?
LezzieLez replied to SkinnyOnMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was thinking about that too! I am driving myself crazy, and lately have had some depressed moments where the only thing that calmed me was "Coldstone Creamery Therapy". However, I am an analyst and my job is to save our clients money so I am constantly looking at the financial aspect. BeLiteWeight is charging $8500 with $3500 down. I will have the $3500 in June. Two other surgeons are charging $5000 with no financing. Paying an additional $1500 is far more attractive than paying $5000 plus interest. I will let you know what I decide. -
Its Offcial! My Surgery Date Is May 9Th.... Oh Boy!

My insurance plan with the company I work for changed at the beginning of the year and it now excludes wls. I was in month 5 of my 6 month pre-op diet and planning on a March sleeve. Now I have to pay out of pocket and am debating on going for a loan and trying for May/June or waiting until next year (tax return) and paying cash. The only thing is that the loan would be for $8500 vs paying $5000 out of pocket a few months later. I am just anxious and impatient - I want to be on the losers bench now! -

LezzieLez replied to SkinnyOnMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally understand what you are saying. I have decided to get the sleeve, but only because I know that my health outweighs my vanity. I am 5'10 314, with a very shapely body and a small stomach. No one ever thinks that I am over 300lbs, and not many feel my pain of being over 300lbs. I tore my achilles tendon in November and have heel spurs, knee and back pain. I cannot climb more than 2 flights without losing my breath and feeling lightheaded. I can no longer wear high heels for longer than 10 minutes without feeling immense pain. I don't like dancing anymore because I start sweating profusely (which my doctor claims is due to my weight). My father had diabetes before dying and my mother has high blood pressure and cholesterol in additon to severe arthritis. BUT I AM SEXY AS HELL! LOL Not going to get into it much, but I have been to nude beaches and nudist resorts and have no problem being nude. I see a beautiful woman that has some "slight" imperfections in my mirror each morning. I am worried that my skin and breasts will sag and that I will hate looking at myself. I worry that my slight insecurities will turn into major insecurities preventing me from being happy and thus sabotoging my journey. I will be paying out of my pocket and worry that I will not have the funds available in 2-3 years to have plasitc surgery. I am having the surgery - my mind is made up. My health is more important especially since I have 2 children that depends on me to be there. Write it down, what you feel are the advantages and disadvantages of the surgery. I know you will make the right decision for yourself. -
Im So Frustrated...i Could Cry
LezzieLez replied to Sandra_Baby87's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wait, she said they will find out who gets laid off on the 26th? Are they going to be let go that day as well? I had a job where I was laid off, but they told us a month in advance. Your mom may also want to check with her HR department to see if there will be a severance package entitling them to severance pay/benefits. Also check and see if the benefits end on the day they are let go, at the end of the month, or 30 days. If it was me, I would keep the same date and arrangements but pay the high COBRA costs (if your mom is let go) because if you have the surgery and complications occur, you still have insurance to cover you. I am sorry to hear about your troubles, and I hope your mom is not one of the 24! Leslie -
Hello Sleevers! My name is Lez and I have been lurking around the site for quite awhile. Late last year, I had my sleeve scheduled for this month, and then my company was acquired. The new insurance totally excludes wls which left me depressed and looking at my self-pay options. Being that I am a single mom and living almost paycheck to paycheck, it will probably be at least 7 months to a year before I can have the surgery. On a daily basis lately, I have been struggling with emotional eating. I feel crazy, internally arguing with myself over what I should/shouldn't be eating and then I get into "F IT" mode and choose the wrong thing. I have put on 11lbs since the new year due to this and feel like I totally lost control. My question is mainly for the post sleevers but anyone is welcome to reply - How do you now handle emotional eating? Has it diminished for you after the surgery or do you still struggle with it? Any suggestions other than "get over it"? Hugs! Lez
