  1. Yall are funny and OMG you look sexy in your costume!! Congrats! As for coworkers... who cares? At a meeting the other day, one of my coworkers got up and announced that she found out that she was diabetic and immediately made some life changes. How much did she lose on her own? 30lbs in 6 months? What did she just eat at the meeting? A CUPCAKE??????? I was quick to judge, just like they did when I told her and another coworker that I was having the surgery. While I proud of both of them for making changes, they are not like me. I have been through the dieting and failed diets and the surgery is what is best for me. One of them even asked if I had life insurance.. (OHHH NO SHE DIDNT!!) Office politics are just that... a bunch of bs! Let them smirk and make stupid comments, but I bet at least one of the fat ones will have a consultation!

Use Your First Six Months Wisely

I was just talking to someone very close to me about this topic last night. I already started being active and cut out on fast foods (except for my emotional run to Mickey D's a few days ago). I started some strength training on my own and cannot wait to have my surgery. Even though I don't completely agree with the initial posting, I do understand that the first few months are the most critical for our weight loss goals and I will take advantage of it. Thanks for the advice!

    Flavored Water

If Mio or crystal light counts, I like the berry pomegranate flavor mio and either the peach ice tea or margarita flavored crystal light. I tried Propel awhile back, it isn't bad either.
  4. Abraham sounds like the typical tour guide from Jamaica... They support their friends and make "pit" stops at places so the tourists can buy stuff. I happy that you are ok Muffintop! I booked through ready4achange and don't really expect much more since reading this. I hope my experience is better, but as long as I am not left for dead or miss my flight, I hope I am just ok.

Are There Any Single Sleevers Out There..

Well, I am officially single... While I am disappointed about the break-up, I am even more disappointed in the fact that as soon as I left, I made a bee-line into Mickey D's and ordered a meal when I wasn't really hungry. Before I date again (and before my sleeve in Feb '13) I will be seeing a therapist.
  6. Exactly 16 Weeks to go.. Sigh..

  7. I think Seven corners requires that the hospital have the JCI Accreditation.. You may want to double check that.

    Tall Sleevers? 6'?

Hey Group! My highest weight was 324 and I am 5'10. I am still pre-op with a date of 2/21/13 (self-pay) I started cutting back on sodas and sugary drinks and lost 7lbs in since 10/1. I will be cutting back on fried foods next and continuing with my strength training until surgery. I have a goal weight, but not sure if it is accurate because my main goal is to get out of Lane Bryant! (Avenue, Catherines, etc..) I cannot remember how much I weighed when I was a size 12 but that is my target.

    Getting On The Train...

Check the reviews of that loan and make sure that your doctor takes it. I believe I was denied the initial loan but was offered a "no patient left behind loan". After reading the reviews, I didn't do it. Then I found out that my surgeon (Garcia) doesn't take it because of numerous accounts of customers getting ripped off.

Scared As Hell Of Excess Skin!

Not stupid at all. I am sure a ton of people (I definitely am) were concerned about the saggy skin for both vanity reasons and health concerns. I am hoping since I am young and my skin is in pretty good condition, that it won't sag too bad. If it does, then I will consider plastics.

    Atlanta, Georgia

Hey, I live in Marietta and looking for sleeve buddies as well. My surgery is in February so I may not be able to guide you but can offer local support or an ear!
  12. I paid my deposit and am still fighting with my decision. I think about the benefits, hope that my pains go away (its raining and my body is killing me), but then I think about the sagging, complications, keeping the weight off, etc. I am going to go through with it because I look forward to having the energy and ability to do more with my kids. My son is a teenager and he has called me out on being lazy a few times (in open conversations).. I don't want that to be the way he sees me anymore so I fight through it now regardless of the pain. My daughter is 3 and I always plan on going out with her on the weekends but then end up staying home.. The point is you may still struggle with the idea even after paying the deposit. Just remember that you thought hard about this and its worth it.

Are There Any Single Sleevers Out There..

Hey Group, I am in a fresh relationship but it is difficult. I don't think its going to make it past tomorrow actually.. I am pre-sleeve and due to insurance changes, had to postpone my surgery date and pay for it myself. It has been quite depressing and I know that is affecting my relationship. I was never really ashamed of my body but for some reason, I don't feel "good enough". If plans change or are cancelled, I immediately think that he found someone better (slimmer). Anywhoo (my favorite non-existing word), my doors are always open if anyone wants to chat.

    Post Surgery Care

Hey, I am not sleeved yet but I will say that you should call your insurance company back and ask. My employer excluded all weight loss surgery as well as any complications from weight loss surgery..

Love the pictures!! You look fantastic!

    Costa Rica

Mexico is huge country. Some surgeons have their surgeries in Cancun, Puerto Villarta, and other tourist areas. I live in Atlanta, was raised in NY, and frequently visit Jamaica, so I know that violence exists everywhere and the media exploits this. I personally stuck with my surgeon in Tijuana regardless of the violence. I am not planning on going out unless I have to and its a short drive to cross the border. If there are 5-6 good surgeons that handles about 30-40 surgeries a month and I haven't heard one complaint about the violence in the 9 months I have been lurking the boards, then I am ok. Do your research. I would like to have my surgery in the US but the surgeons that I prefer to have are expensive. A loan is an option, but its not mine..

    February 2013 Sleevers?

I chose Dr. Garcia.. I honestly didn't research Dr. Lopez but I looked at quite a few others. My date is 2/21/13.. 31, 5'10 314lbs
  19. BCBS is funny - it really depends on the state you are in and whether your company decides to cut the cost of insurance for everyone by excluding all WLSs. There are options.. You may be able to get it done by the end of the year. The same thing happened to me last year - I scheduled my surgery for January 30th 2012 and my company was acquired last December. My new policy excluded all WLSs so I decided to postpone it until 2/21/2013 and pay for it myself. I hope things work out for you!

    March 2013

Hey i'm sorry for the late reply. I choose Dr Garcia. They have a Wells Fargo account that I deposited a money order into since the branch is 2 minutes away from me.
  21. I know testing is done prior to surgery at the hospital in Mexico, but did anyone (or is anyone planning) to have the same tests done that the US/insured sleevers have before going to Mexico? Because I haven't had a physical in a long time and my current PCP is not supportive, I am switching to another PCP and thought of possibly having some of the tests done.
  22. Wow a size 2-4? A size D cup would probably look porn-starish.. LOL Perky C's sounds good and more in line with your new size. And yes, bigger is definitely not always better.. We are all on here because of that..lol
  23. Not being sleeved yet, I probably am the wrong person to answer but I personally like bigger breasts. I am a 44D pre-sleeve and wish I was a DD. Post surgery, I would go for a D cup because in high school, I was a C and it was too small for my liking.

    March 2013

I made my deposit today for 2/21/13. Now that it is done, I thought I would feel better but now I am really nervous. As far as you worried about your deposit, I have my reciept of deposit and their confirmation (and a copy because I am neurotic) for reference! 18 1/2 weeks to go! I hope this goes faster than I think it is.

    2013 Surgery Anyone?

If something happens to you after having surgery in Mexico, you can go to the hospital but most of us self pay patients have insurance policies that excludes weight loss surgery or any complications resulting from weight loss surgery. My opinion, if your insurance covers it and the out of pocket is similar to what you would pay in Mexico, I would still have the surgery in NYC. I would also try to choose a surgeon that has the BLIS insurance which protects you in case you have complications. If your out of pocket is that high (above the cost of surgery in Mexico and the airfare), then Mexico should be an option.
