I agree probably water needed but I was a diabetic before surgery and was prone to yeast infections so after they pumped in all the antibiotics after surgery I got thrush a yeast infection on my tongue and throat if your tongue is white might be the problem. Hope you feel better soon. -
Getting Frustrated Help Please
smileen replied to Furby036's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I tried many premier, atkins, and many powder types but I like the muscle milk light at costco they have vanilla creme and choclate has 20gms protien in 8.25oz smaller amt. to drink and not chalky. -
OMG you have lot 40lbs in 6 weeks u must be doing something right! You have already had so much good advise the only thing I can think of is eat no more than 1/3C. at each meal and have a midmorning protien shake and maybe a midmorning protien bar or shake. Try to relax what you are feeling in the overwhelming hormone rush when the weight starts coming off! You will be feeling better in a few weeks. good Luck!!

Are We All Doing This Too Soon?
smileen replied to girliegirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
30 years ago my sister in law had a gastrectomy because she had a large bleeding ulcer they took over 1/2 her stomach she did very well but the ulcers persisted and she eventually had another gastrectomy and had the rest of her stomach removed she did well even without her stomach! Partial removal of stomachs has been around for many years just was done for other reasons ie; ulcers, cancers. Before they realized how well it works for weight loss and someone did a study! -

How Much Liquids A Day Should I Be Getting In? 6 Days Post Op
smileen replied to NJsharon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too was told 64oz. this is almost impossible at first but get as close as possible it does include all fluids broth, jello, tea, popcicles etc. very important when I got dehydrated I passed out then went to hosp. in ambulance! Don't worry about stretching stomach I was told when on fluids stomach is like a funnel it runs through very quickly later as food is thicker it takes longer to go through. Remember our Montra always be sipping! Good Luck! -
I counted as I chewed I was told to chew at least 25 times if is already real soft I counted maybe swallowed sooner but continued to count till times up and put the spoon down often too. Its not easy to count if you r with others but it does help keep you from finishing a meal way before everyone else. But really does it take 30min. to eat 1/3C.!

Blood Sugar... Help!
smileen replied to AngieG0410's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a diabetic and after surgery my blood sugar dropped when I left the hopital I was told to eat 50 carbs. so I was careful to stay about that. Some protein drinks are high in sugar I drink muscle milk light has 100cal. 6 carbs. 20gm protein. I eat as I did before surg. sugar free and try to balance eating a protein with a carb. Read the labels there are many hidden sugars in food! I am almost 4 months out no longer need to use diabetic meds. Good luck! -
For me about 6 - 8 weeks. At first I had lotsa gas even though I took previcid each day and gasx 4 times a day and my left side felt swollen n very sore at that time life and liquid food was yuck. When food started to be reg and I could then tell a small amt. of solid food filled me up and I felt satisfied with 1/3C at meals and the scale showed me the weight dropping off I also was able to stop all meds for diabetes and cut down on High blood pressure meds then I could say life is good!

I'm Having A Liquid Diet Breakdown
smileen replied to crazyrai's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you just use a plain broth? I was told by my nut. to drain juice from the reg. soups as they have a little more flavor or is that what you do? Glad I did not have to do this long and only after surgery thankfully after surgery eating does not feel that good so you don't mind eating broth so much. Good luck! -
When I am out with others I usually count as I chew this keeps me from being so far ahead in my eating than the others I tend to eat faster if I don't pay attention and I put my fork down once in a while. Be sure to put some protein bars or nuts etc.snacks you can eat in your pack or other peoples pack when u go into disneyworld don't rely on being able to find snacks u can have inside and drink, drink, drink, gets humid and sometimes hot there. Have a great time!

I agree with sleeve master if I start out with carbs I will want to eat all day! Best to keep them out of the house. I too an a little over 3mo. and find I'm having a problem with grazing so I cut everything in small pieces then if I grab something up it doesn't add up so fast.

mushrooms have Vit.D and some protein they are especially tasty chopped with spinach lightly sauted with EVO and made into an omlet!
-
I also had went to a 1001 diet centers etc. but they required a physcian overseen diet attempt for the insurance. I had to go to a Dr. diet center for 6 months. It wasn,t so bad while i did that I had my tests with cardio, gastric, etc. and then had my surgery. Good luck If there's a will there,s a way!

I Have To Cancel My Surgery. So Upset.
smileen replied to amytug's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My BMI was lower than that but I had high blood pressure and type II diabetes which qualified me with the insurance company. Do you have any problems which may qualify you? -
my dr. said no aspirin, advil, or aleve because can cause stomach problems. I miss advil only thing that helps headaches and my daily baby aspirin to keep away problems? I too would like to know when we can take it.

I like the muscle milk light is only 8.25oz. 20gms protein and 3gm sugar which is important to me since I WAS diabetic it also is not as thick as some which I like comes in vanilla creme and chocolate I started with vanilla because choclate sometimes upsets my stomach. Good luck!
-
Are you getting your fluids in need to at least get close as you can to 64oz. I felt very naseated when I got dehydrated and light headed eventually passed out. Try to drink and maybe popcicles or try 1/2 strength apple juice n 1/2 water it will give you some carbs. too. Drinking is most important right now. Did the Dr. give you some pills for nausea when you had surgery?
-
I had gas before leaving hospital nurse said try GasX and walk n walk I was also taking omeprarole 40mg. and I took gasx with meals and bedtime seemed to help me. It won't last too long. good luck!

Tylenol is the only pain/fever reliever my dr. allows. Hope you feel better soon!

I Think I've Began To Mourn Food :(
smileen replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think probably your hormones are kicking in big time but you r one in 1,000 of us who have these feeling every so often. I am almost 4 months out and I go out and eat quite often i order reg meals take some home or several of my favorite sides I and eat tablespoons of each maybe take some home. I went on a camp out with friends and ate a little bit of each food from potato salad to pasta salad and grilled meats. In a few months you will be able to enjoy all your favorites just in smaller amts. The difference is the small amts. will be more satisfing and the scale will make you so much happier and healthier than you have ever felt! Be happy! Better days are coming. (I find myself gulping down drinks it doesn't hurt anymore but I have to remind myself to go slow) -
I am a diabetic and I was not sent home on any protein drinks my drs. group did not recommend them at first and did not even push protein drinks. Since I was a diabetic the nut. said I must get at least 50gms of carbs which I got by drinking 1/2 strength apple juice mixed with water. When I started the protein drink about 2 weeks out I got muscle milk light which has 100cal. and 30 gms. protein and 6 carbs. The last day I had to take insulin and pills for diabetes was the day I left hospital 15weeks ago. Best to talk to Dr. or his nutritionist. Good luck!

Don't Understand Why I Can't Keep Anything Down?!?
smileen replied to mistyf6572's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you go back to clear liquid for a day or 2 that is what I was told to do if I started vomiting also dr. gave me a med to take if vomiting started. getting enough liquids in very important so concentrate on getting them in or dehydration will cause even more nausea. Do you take a previcid daily most of us are on that since surgery. -
