I love this! It is PMS for the band!!! I absolutely agree. Don't be scared though' date=' it is manageable. Honestly I didn't put two and two together until approx after my surgery. Knowledge is power... Knowing what to expect or what could be expected is better then not knowing at all. When feeling down or angry, it is easier to remind yourself reasons why you could be... Hope this makes sense.

I agree with stephy and jessi but would also like to add that I researched the malabsorption issue with other wls and I didn't care for it. I work in a psychiatric hospital and see many wls patients 5 - 10 yrs out. The malabsorption doesn't just affect the body causing weight loss but also affects the brain. That scared me. I wanted something that if I had problems could be removed with minimal damage (scarring) I don't know much about the sleeve. I do know that the band is not an easy way out and requires dedication and commitment but gives many rewards with weightless and health if you are willing to work with it. Good luck with your decision!

I met and married the man I met on match.com. He was completely opposite of who I "thought" I would be with. He met me at one of my highest weights and loves me for me. He is one of the biggest reasons I was so successful with my band. Please don't give up! The right guy is out there and will love you for you! I was 28 when I met him and married him when I was 30. Oh, and by the way, I didn't get many "hits" on the site either. It just happened.

What size band? It sounds like you are to tight. A very slight unfill might just get you to the sweet spot! Good luck!

Letter To Appeals Dept At Insurance Company
Jen75 replied to nikkiluv's topic in Insurance & Financing
I too had to submit a letter but it was required. I basically stated that at the age of 33 I was obese and had struggled with weight my entire adult life. I wanted to be healthy. I wanted to prevent co morbities like heart disease and diabetes. (which saves the i insurance company money). I also wanted to be able to enjoy life. It was kind of a heartfelt letter to myself and why I wanted to live a healthy lifestyle. I also explained that I understood that the band was a tool that I was to work and not a solution to all my problems. I was 110 pounds overweight, high cholesterol, back and joint pain, depression, anxiety and have hypothyroidism. By explaining all of that and most of it was from my weight I was approved. Good luck with you letter and the journey you are just starting. -
A typical day for me when I am working is: coffee 630 am Protein shake 1030 am Cottage cheese' date=' kidney & garbanzo Beans, hard boiled egg, and shredded cheese... I just pick the high protein off the salad bar at work. All that comes to about 1 cup of food. This is between 12 and 1230pm Yogurt or string cheese 3-5 pm if I'm hungry dinner varies, I usually do 1/2 cup or cup of food on whatever is the menu. Time varies as well as with my work and school schedule so dinner is pretty much serve yourself. I consume about 1100-1200 calories a day. I will say I am 3 yrs post op, in my green zone and eat mostly because I have to... Or it is a "scheduled meal" i rarely get hungry but get symptomatic. (headache, grouchy, lethargic) It is easy to get in a routine with eating the same foods because you are comfortable with them. Don't be afraid to branch out a little. Good luck!

Oh my, surgery has changed my taste buds immensely! I never touched avocados before and now I love them. I have weird foot cravings and combinations that I never would have tried. I agree with stefy though, I don't know if it was surgery or just my taste buds changing as I've been told they change every seven years.

Someone that works In surgery, please correct me if I'm wrong but I would imagine it was the way you were lying on the table. They have to create a workspace so you are put in different positions. Plus, the anathesia in your body can affect all muscles with the gas... Just a theory.

I also have hypo. I had to get a letter from both my endocrinologist and gp for ins company and bariatric surgeon. Letter from endocrinologist stated he supported my decision of getting lapband, my thyroid issue was under control and that he would continue to follow me after my surgery. I am on a very small dose and just recently started taking it correctly. (1/2 hour before eating or drinking anything) and it is amazing how much better I feel. I never ate with it but I would take it with my coffee with creamer. Haha.

Don't beat yourself up. Tomorrow is a new day. In my experience, alcohol allows me to eat anything and everything regardless if restriction. I have to be careful when I decide to drink. So occasionally we have to give ourselves a break. :-)
