Florence Hospital Vs. Int Hospital Tijuana Mexico
BeautyVGSJourney posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hi everyone, I want to see if anyone know anything about both of this hospitals and if they would recomend one over the other (and why). Thanks! -
Hi everyone, Like many of you know I had my sleeve May 10th and now I am almost 3 weeks post op! I am also currently in school and I have to do a Master Project, I was going to do a systematic review on the effects of Ghrelin in seizures but a two weeks ago someone beat me to it! and now me and my co-investigator are looking for another topic. Since the sleeve is so dear and near to my heart (literally) we are thinking of doing a research project but that would mean I would need people who have had the sleeve to fill out a completely anonymous survey, the problem with this type of research is that often times people don't get enough surveys filled and the study falls thru. I want to see if there are some of you who would be willing to answer a few questions on an online questionnaire for my research? Things such as age, gender, BMI, weight, and some medical and other questions will be asked but no one will know who answered what. I can also post the results later for your viewing pleasure. If you would be willing to participate please just like my post or reply. Thank you so much!!!

Greetings, We are graduate students from the University of North Texas Health Science Center, and we are conducting a research study concerning the perceived psychological and physiological changes after the vertical sleeve gastrectomy surgery (VGS). If you have had the VGS surgery, are at least 18 years old, and are interested in sharing your experiences with us, please fill out this short online survey. The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to fill out and is completely anonymous. We will not ask you for any identifiable personal information such as name, phone number, etc. You may decline to answer any of the questions and may stop your participation at any time. Your responses will be saved electronically in a third-party server. Since the survey is anonymous, there is no way we can identify your responses. We will only perform statistical analysis on aggregate data. If you have any questions before, during or after filling out the survey, please feel free to contact us at vsgresearch@gmail.com. Below is a URL hyperlink to the survey. By following it, you acknowledge that you have had the vertical sleeve gastrectomy surgery. We appreciate your time and attention. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VSGResearch

Fort Worth Texas Buddies/mentors Group
BeautyVGSJourney posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello everyone, I would love to start a group (or join one if I am somehow missing it) for pre-sleevers and post ones in Fort Worth or near it. I am looking for workout buddies too (I normally workout at the Ryan YMCA (near McCart and Sycamore School Road but we might be able to workout at other places). I am planning to have my sleeve surgery in May! But I would like to find a good workout routine before then. Maybe we can also sometimes meet for lunch, movie or just nice conversations? Soon to be a proud Looser, LB -
Hi Ladies, thank you for joining! When and where are your surgeries? how long have you been waiting to have them? nevous, excited? I am having surgry May 10, in Tijuana Mexico with dr. Ponce de leon. I have been wanting to have surgery for a few years but it now came to the point that I am so heavy that I could not wait any longer. My wait time has not been very long, I was scheduled to go with Dr. Kelly but then changed my mind and opted for Dr. Ponce instead!. I am both nervous and excited, I am so ready for this!. I will be traveling alone so that makes me a little nervous, and the thought of anesthesia does too, but I cannot wait!!! I wish I could do it today!

What About Personal Safety While In Mexico... Not So Safe There In General Now...

I went alone to Mexico and always felt perfectly safe. My coordinator took me everywhere I wanted to go, even the ocean. I loved my experience! -
Warranties So To Speak..
BeautyVGSJourney replied to meadowesky's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had mine with Dr Ponce, I asked him that before my surgery. He said if something happened while I was there he would take care of it. If I went home and had to come back I might need to pay for my ticket and maybe some hospital fees but otherwise nothing. I am over a month post op and thank God nothing happened! I am doing wonderfully. I have heard great things about Dr Alvarez but I also wanted to save the extra money and honestly Dr. Ponce is super experienced. Even if I had to go back it would had cost me less than the extra 3000. Dr ponce is only 5500. Good luck on your search! -

Just Wondering About Tijuana...
BeautyVGSJourney replied to Tia Noel's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Tia I did not have a buddy until two weeks before my surgery and when I got there I had two more buddies that Dr Ponce was doing surgery on but where scheduled by a different coordinator and don't come to the forums. So by then you will probably have someone -
Dr. Ponce De Leon
BeautyVGSJourney replied to anais02's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Ponce and his staff. I did a lot of research before choosing him and I am glad I did! I have my journey including surgery on YouTube if you want to watch it, it might help you seeing him in action. My coordinator was Trish and she was wonderful also. If you go with him you won't regret it, people I talked to there said he is the best in Tijuana! -

BeautyVGSJourney replied to heatherinoregon's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I did not have revision nor surgery with Dr. Kelly but I did travelled alone. My surgeon was Dr Ponce and my coordinator Trish. I decided to go alone because one it was cheaper and two I figured I rather my husband take time off when I got home, there I would have nurses in the hospital and the hotel Trish and my sleeve sister and husband always were around. I did miss having my family but honesty if I was to go again I would do it the same way. I talked to my daughter and husband daily on Skype they got to see me that way and I got to see them too. There was no problems crossing the border or anything else. I have. Y whole journey on video on YouTube if you are interested in seeing the border, hotel and even surgery. I understand your fears, specially being a single mother, I was a single mother for over 10 years. Do whatever you think will be best for you and your family, make sure you do a lot of research on the procedure and the surgeon and the fear will minimize with time. Good luck and feel free to ask any questions! -

I had surgery with Dr Ponce I asked the driver to take me by a wells fargo ATM, she did and I got dollars there. I definetly agree with Shannon take small bills the ATM game me all $20s and that was hard for tipping. -
Please Hold My Hand..
BeautyVGSJourney replied to Failure's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery may 10th with Dr. Ponce De Leon in Mexico. My whole cost flight and everything included was $6000 he has a lot of experience, more than most USA Doctors and even Mexican ones. I hope you get the loan you need, but keep in mind that if they don't give it to you finding another $2000 is better than $10000. My pcp does my blood testing and check ups, but I have not had any complications. My full journey is on YouTube including my surgery from inside and out if you are interested in watching it. Good luck! -

Misty I would just suggest whenever you are shopping for tickets pay attention to total travel time, most have a layover, and you don't want to sit around in an airport for hours waiting post op -

BeautyVGSJourney replied to agerpayarkansas's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Mine was $ 350 with taxes and fees and insurance included. I flew from DFW it was closer to me and it was the cheaper I found with less time on layover. I bought my ticket on priceline -
