Going in tomorrow morning. I'm not sure how I'm feeling. I'm not excited, but that doesn't bother me. It's something that I know needs to be done. I'm a realist. Could go well, could have a lot of difficulties for weeks or months. I do have some nagging second thoughts about having the majority of my stomach permanently removed, but I turn 40 this year and enough time has gone by already. I know this is what I have to do. I'm not focusing on the future joy as I'm afraid it can cause me some depression if things are difficult at first. Just trying to take one day and one hurdle at a time and reminding myself that "this too shall pass". My nerves are on the rise now that surgery is in the morning and I'm getting irritable (that's apparently how my nerves show up). *I could really use your prayers, if you are willing.* Thanks guys. <3

Wow! That would be amazing! I've only heard that report from one person and it was a guy. That is AWESOME that recovery was so uneventful. Thank you so much for your prayers!!!!! I really really appreciate your response. -

I will, Carly, thank you so much. I will do my best to let you know something before your surgery. Hugs. -
I agree with eazye.... Do not do that, especially dealing with people's money. My husband recently had one. He doesn't even remember some of what went on after we got home, though HE felt like he was good to go, he absolutely wasn't. You can't always rely on how you feel. He thought he was fine, but he had some interesting things to say...lol. I told him he wasn't going to remember everything he was saying but he was convinced he would. He didn't. I would just hate for you to take unnecessary risks with your job and other's billing and have trouble later on.

March 28! The Big Day!
SusieQs replied to Babypink002's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there!! I'm also having surgery on March 28. My journey has also been short, having started my research in late Jan. I, too, never thought i would have wls, but yes, God had other plans for me as well!! :-D sounds like our stories have a lot in common! I'm in Maryland and will be having my surgery in Maryland. Will be thinking of you and praying for you on Wednesday as I go in for surgery myself!!! -
Lexsan, the first thing to do is call the insurance company to find out the therapist qualifications they would accept a report from e.g., Psychologist, Psychiatrist, LCSW, etc. if your therapist's qualifications match, you're good. There isn't a questionnaire.... There was just a letter in my initial info. packet from my surgeon to the mental health professional. It told him/ her in detail what specific information they are looking for, etc.

I've never heard of that option!!!! I assume my surgeon doesn't do that one, but I'll look up the requirements to be a candidate....I'm curious

Concerned About What I'm Leaving Behind!

Hugs! I'm there with ya. Keep us updated -
I decided to have my eval. done by my therapist rather than the one the practice recommended. My therapist was qualified to do it (LCSW)? Or whatever it is. She didn't have experience doing this particular eval., but the practice I'm using had a thorough guide for any licensed therapist I planned on using. That said, I had seen my therapist originally due to marriage issues. I felt that she knew me better than any other therapist who may feel the need to thoroughly investigate things that my therapist is already aware of and understands. Hope that makes sense. She's know me and my husband more than a year and though she feels this is an extreme option, she told me that psychologically she knows there's no reason to not recommend me. She was thorough with the questions they wanted her to ask, and she apparently submitted a glowing report despite her personal reservations regarding the procedure. I had decided that someone more familiar with me, even though less familiar with bariatrics was my better option. It worked for me. Don't know if it's too late for you to do that or not, but thought I'd share my process.

SusieQs replied to JayhawkJess33's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to you, and sending prayer your way. My date is the 28th. I started my liquid diet today and am a bit nervous about my success with it as the first protein shake of the day tasted fine, but did make me nauseous. We shall see. Can't wait to find out how you're doing. Congrats on the 11+ pounds!!!:-) -
Concerned About What I'm Leaving Behind!
SusieQs replied to Dizzle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, Dizzle.... I understand what you mean. One thing will be that when you do end up being able to have some beer, you'll have to drink less anyway, because you will get drunk on a very small amount! Lol. Initially, I'm sure you know not to even sip it after surgery as the yeast will produce gas and bloating and cause severe pain. My surgery is on March 28th. Today I have to start the liquid diet. I found myself weepy and emotional last night. I'm not sure why - fear over failing? Grieving a lifestyle I'm leaving? I really don't know. Hang in there. Emotionally, I feel better today than yesterday. Your feelings will come and go as you progress towards your surgery, I think. I imagine after some required seminars and knowledge acquisition you will mentally become more ready, but will still have times of worry or discouragement. The fear of the unknown can be difficult and I think it's normal to grieve the loss of what you've always known, and enjoyed. :-) don't forget that your taste changes after surgery. The thought of tasting beer may end up not being very appealing for quite a long time. I think the quickly drunken state will also help. Lol. Maybe I was way too wordy here, but just wanted to encourage you. -
Thank you!!! Starting the liquid diet tomorrow. It's coming up quickly.... Can I ask how tall you are and your starting weight? It's ok if you'd rather not say. :-)

I just found out about this app tonight. I was excited about the surgery, but after reading a few post op threads I'm pretty darn scared. :-/ my journey to surgery was a quick one, but not hasty. I need to hear a few positive things from those post op if anyone is willing.

Meli1234 thanks again.... Thanks for adding me as a friend. If I could figure out how to do any of that through my iPhone, I would. Lol! I find the app to not be incredibly user friendly from my phone at least.

Meli1234 and Liberated Sleeve, thank you SO much. I really need to hear these!!! I started to panic a little.

I've been told the protein does clump when added to hot liquid, so you mix it with a little water first, then add to your hot drink. Hope that helps.
