after surgery what form of medicine is best? Can you take the soft gel pills or is it best to stick with regular pills or capsules? If you get sick and need antibiotics can you still take the pills or do you need to take liquid form? I didn't know if the medicine is flushed through our sleeves too fast to disolve in the form of pills or capsules vs. chewable or liquid medicines.

i have noticed if i eat quickly i get a lot of gas. is this why we are told to eat slowly? I'm a teacher and I only have a 15 minute lunch so eating it slowly isn't a possiblility for me. what reasons are we told to eat slow other than to feel the feeling of being "full" before eating too much. what other physical symptoms can occur from eating too fast?

I am now 3 weeks out and I'm still sore on and off! Some days I feel "normal" and then other days I feel very tender still on the left hand side of where my incisions were. It kinda comes and goes. Anyone else experience this?

I'm a high bmi gal. Started at 50.

keep your chin up! I am also looking to be a "slow loser". I am 3 weeks out and I've only lost 4. At that rate I'll be at about 8 or 9 by the time I'm at 7 weeks. I wish I had words of wisdom or something to say to make it better but I don't. I'm a bit disappointed with my lack of loss so I now how you feel. Just know that you aren't the only "slow loser". Maybe this will be better for us this way--maybe our skin will have time to shrink with us losing slower. Maybe we won't lose our hair as much. there has to be some hidden blessing!

How Long Till You Took A Bath?
cab0ad replied to cab0ad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I mean soaking in the bathtub and enjoying it! I want to relax! -
How long did you wait to take a bath? I am 18 days out. My doc said to wait till the incisions "healed". what does healed mean? There is no bleeding in my incisions and the scab has fallen off of them but they still are redder than their surroundings. I miss my bathtub!

chasin dreams, I can do you one up. I was sleeved on 3/13 and I have only lost 1 pound! I was 2 pounds down but somehow I miraculously gained one of them back a few days ago and it has not left. Talk about depressing--I paid $13000 out of pocket, and have only lost 1 stinking pound. I'm so frustrated I could cry.

Kinda Feeling Down About My Weight Loss
cab0ad replied to cab0ad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thanks for the suggestions! I can't have sweet potatoes or any potatoes for the first 80 days out for some reason. I'm guessing the carb content. The only things my NUT will let me eat this week are: string cheese, cottage cheese, eggs, yogurt, cream Soups, tuna (I have not tried this yet...), fish (not tried it yet), or deli meat turkey (not tried it yet). I was trying to stick with the foods on the list that were a bit more liquidy and less bulky since I was afraid to break my staples. I do drink 2-3 Protein shakes a day too. It seems like my NUT has progressed my diet options faster than most people. A lot of people are still on liquids only at this stage. how are they losing weight? this is so frustrating! -
Kinda Feeling Down About My Weight Loss
cab0ad posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know everyone is differnt and will lose at a different pace. yada yada yada.... But here I am 10 days post op and I'm seeing everyone is postin losses well into the double digits! I have only lost 2 stinking pounds from my pre-op weight! 2 pounds, in 10 days right out of surgery? That seems so abnormally slow. It worries me knowing that everyone seems to hit a stall at 3 weeks. at my rate I will only lose 3 pounds before that stall happens. I feel like this surgery has not been a success. How can I have lost only 2 pounds? I eat 3 times a day. My meal is one of the following: 1 ounce string cheese, 1/2-1 egg, 1/4-1/2 cup cottage cheese, 3 ounces yogurt. I get around 60 grams of Protein a day. I'm not up to 64 ounces of liquid a day but i always get at least 40 ounces. sometimes 50. I eat my 3 Vitamins a day. what am I doing wrong? I'm very happy everyone else is being so successful but I'm worried at the slowness of my weight loss. This should be the time I'm losing a lot. -
no pain meds for me. I tried them when I came home and they made me want to vomit from the taste. I have been pain medication free for 6 days.

Day #2 Post-Op... Bloated! Anyone Else?
cab0ad replied to Hip2bfit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I gained 15 pounds during my surgery from bloating! it came off in about 6 days. Hang in there! -
Ok, how is everyone eating now? I tried cottage cheese and I can eat 1/2 cup of cottage cheese at a time with no problem whatsoever. I did a scrambled egg last night. From what everyone said I was positive I'd only be able to get half of it down but I ate the whole egg! I'm starting to worry this isn't gonna work for me! Who eats the whole egg 8 days out??? I just don't ever have a sensation of "hungry" or "full" at all now. I eat 3 times a day because I know I am supposed to. When I start I'm not "hungry" per se. But even after I eat my portioned food I don't feel any "fuller" than when I started. Everyone says they can feel full after eating solids but I just don't. I never feel any different at all! I'm so confused. How can I stop when I'm comfortably full if I never feel full?? Has anyone else besides me felt this way? Is anyone else confused about their body signals for hunger? gosh...I'm 35 years old. You'd think I'd be able to tell when I'm hungry or full... I feel like a nincompoop!

desertmom-- Hilarious, I just posted a similar question! I am 8 days out today and just drank an 8 ounce glass of milk in 10 minutes! I was horrified! Seemed like I shouldn't be able to do that! I wansn't even "full"
-
Stupid huh? i am now 8 days out and I'm actually worried I am feeling too good. I just drank 8 ounces of milk in about 10 minutes tops! Should i be able to do that? I'm so used to sipping and taking a half hour or more for an 8 ounce drink it freaks me out to be able to drink one in 10 minutes. and there were no cramps or pains doing it! I took several "normal sized" swigs a couple at a time too! Gosh, it makes me worry my sleeve has a hole or something. I don't even feel full! Is this normal?
