Hey folks. My hubby just had his surgery on July 25th. Today he has been running a high fever with chills. No pain but he does have dizziness. He's been doing fine up until now. I called the doctor (on call, not our surgeon) this evening when the fever was 101.7, and he said an infection was unlikely this far out, and it's probably just a virus. Now it's bedtime and his temp is 102.6. I'm a little worried. I told him I was taking him to the ER if it gets to 103. What do you all think?

Fever 2 weeks post op

We waited and the fever did not get up to 103. It was 100.7 this morning and then normal this afternoon. Wonder what that was all about? -

Yes that's what I'm worried about. I think I'll give him a few more hours and if the fever is still high, we will go on in. -

I gave him Tylenol which helped a little while but didn't break the fever completely. -

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
madambones replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Surgery day: 04-09-2012 Highest weight: 283 Current weight:187.4 as of yesterday. So close to 100 lbs. and just 42 lbs from goal. Yay! Does anyone else worry a lot about stretching your stomach? What does it feel like and how would I know if I was stretching it? -

Ok Ladies Level With Me Here ... Gas?
madambones replied to Lhollingsworth's topic in The Gals' Room
In my case, it wasn't gas in the intestines producing farting, but gas in the stomach/sleeve that caused quite a bit of pain. Gas-X strips helped with that though. -
My First Goal I Finally Hit It
madambones replied to phillygirl8133's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too! Scale said 199.8 this morning. The sleeve is the best thing I've EVER done for myself! I'm about 7 1/2 months out and have lost over 83 lbs. I can eat whatever I want, just in very small portions. Sweet, rich foods need to be avoided, though, as I was reminded after the Thanksgiving meal yesterday and an evening spent in the restroom! Ugh. -
Looking for more friends on My Fitness Pal. I LOVE to see what everyone is eating. It gives me lots of good ideas for new things to try! Add me - my user name is anna_henderson P.S. I wore a pair of old "skinny" jeans this week. (if you call size 18W skinny...and I do!). It was awesome! :-D

I've started losing hair recently! I had read that it might happen, but I guess I really didn't believe it. My hair is very thick and heavy so i can spare quite a bit, but how much am i going to lose? Three and a half months out from surgery now. Anyone else just starting to lose hair?

Me too! I want to update my current weight, but the place where I used to do that (settings--->my surgery) is now completely gone!

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
madambones replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yesterday marked 7 weeks since I was sleeved. I'm so pleased with how everything is going so far! It has turned out to be much easier than I ever imagined it would be. The hardest part has been learning my body's new signals, like what signal means I'm starting to feel full, and how to know when to stop eating. I think I've finally figured it out, though! I still have to remind myself to chew, chew, chew (my sleeve is happier when I do) and to slow down and not eat so fast. I had a period of 2-3 weeks enduring the dreaded stall, but once that passed, the weight started coming right off again, like a pound or two every few days. It's funny (and a little awkward) to go out to eat with other people - I eat my 3 or 4 bites and then sit and play with my leftovers and watch everyone else eat their big meals. I'm always thinking to myself, "wow, how do you people eat so much!" LOL I realized recently when I weighed myself, that I will never see certain numbers on the scale ever again: Goodbye forever, 290s, 280s, 270s, 260s, and 250s! I can't say that I'll miss you. This surgery is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I would definitely do it all over again. What about the rest of you April sleevers? -
I was sleeved on April 9th. So I am 7-8 weeks out. I've felt pretty good all this time, besides having low energy. Today, though, I started feeling nauseous right before lunch, and started having diarrhea. Tonight I've had worse nausea, continued diarrhea, and chills & fever (100.5). My stomach keeps sending its contents back up my throat, but I haven't vomited yet. I got some phenergan that my mother had on hand, and it has helped, but not completely. I feel rotten, but I'm hoping this is a virus. Someone in my office had a similar illness this week. Would I know if I was having a leak or even a blockage as opposed to a virus? Should I just try to sleep it off and see if i feel better in the morning? I'm a little worried about getting dehydrated. And I'm scared that maybe i haven't been chewing well enough and eating too fast and have hurt my sleeve. Any advice appreciated.

How big were your bites? It helps me if I remember to take teeny pea sized bites. Someone here recently said that they actually measure out a 1/3 cup portion of food for each meal and once that's gone, it's time to stop eating. I've started doing that too, except I use just a 1/4 cup for meals. Also remember not to drink within 30 min of eating. Of course, your new tummy may just hate egg salad!

Where did you find these chocolate medallions? What are they called? Sounds good!

Has anyone tried any chewable protein tablets or wafers in place of shakes? From what I've seen, it sounds like you have to eat 50 tablets to get the amount of protein you get in a shake. But I'm wondering if any of you have found a realistic alternative to the shakes. If I could chew 2 tablets and get 15-20 g of protein, seems like that would be great! Thoughts on this?

April 9Th Sleevers Are Here!
madambones replied to madambones's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I went out in PUBLIC today! Went to the mall and bought some shoes for my hubby and a pretzel for my boy. :-) My jeans made me sore and uncomfortable and I got tired fast. I was happy to get back home and put on my PJs. Still it was nice to see the world again. :-D -
Hoping to gather all April 9th sleevers here in this forum so we can keep up with each other's progress. I'm having my surgery on 4/9 at 9:00 AM. Let me hear from you all. April 9 sleevers unite!
