    My experience with VG.

My friend had the VSG and is doing great. I have been a complete success with the band. I am glad that this surgery is working so well for you. All I can say is I guess some people are "special." Good luck to you.

new and seeking advice re removal

Ten year life span? The band is not a breast implant. Who ever posted this is getting there prosthetics confused. Sharon Osborne is having the band removed because she is bulemic. So I'm sure she has created a lot of problems because of this. You may have major psycholgical issues which I'm sure you are aware of. As far as your medical problems when they are eventually resolved you can truly enjoy the benefits of the band. Please use all the professional resources that are available to you. Good luck to you.

    Just Getting Started

I was self pay, so glad I was able to do this. I had a BMI of 38 so I really didn't have to do any diet before hand. This is what I call the real "bandster hell." It really irritates me. Why are we having the band? Because we have a problem with losing weight, duh? A friend of mine requested diet pills to help her with this phase. They worked and she is doing well with her band. The doctors etc. who make you do this don't have any weight issues. They just do not understand what we go thru. As far as shrinking the liver, new studies show that this is not really the case. Also the rhetoric about seeing if you can follow a plan so the band will work for you is also utter crap. The band makes it easy to follow the rules. I amk a complete success with my band and have maintained my goal weight for 6 months, size 4-6. I never would have been able to follow a 6 months diet before the band. I could do it now. Good luck to you, I know it is not easy. You have my utmost support. Laura

    Cali Bandsters Unite!!

I live on the SF peninsula, Dr. Cirangle did my surgery 18 months ago. It has been a complete success. I have about 6 bandsters that I get together with locally. We have lunch occasionally and talk on the phone. Dr. C. is mainly doing Verticle Sleeve Gastrectomies now. A friend of mine went for the band and had VSG done by Dr. Cirangle. She is doing great. Laura
  6. I told no one, not even my family. I am very glad I told no one. I don't get any flak, just compliments on how great I look. Everyone thinks I had hernia surgery, which actually I also had along with the band. So I just omitted one detail.
  7. I have been banded for 18 months. It has been a complete success for me. I can eat anything and swallow any size pill. I have the 10cm band with a 4cc capacity. I have had 8 small fills and am at 2.6cc. Lost about 90 lbs. and wear a size 4-6. I am very glad I had the band done. The best advice I can give you is to do research, research, research on the band your doctor, the hospital etc., etc. Just take everything one day at a time and don't let anything overwhelm you. Good luck to you. Laura
  8. Hi everyone, I was banded eighteen months ago and I have lost all my weight and maintained it for 6 months now. I have been quite active on another sight but am getting tired of all the off topic postings. I am interested in the band and not that your family is disfunctional etc., etc. This sight seems to concentrate on what I am interested in. Laura
