Just Went To My Preop Appt And This Is What Happened...
TinkerToyz replied to NenaLinda's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Amazing, I know that what they bill the insurance for is no where near what that actually get paid. I also have a UHC PPO and they will pay my surgeon only $1770.72 for the actual sleeve procedure. My co pay for the procedure was only $301 and change. -
I had my pre op visit with my surgeon 3 days before my last NUT meeting and almost a week before my paperwork was submitted to my insurance company. My papers went in on June the 25th or 26th and the office called to say I was approved July 2nd. I am having my sleeve on July 10th. All in all it will be 101 days from my initial appointment to sleeve.

How Quick Did You Heal?
TinkerToyz replied to Rosie88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You wrote 4 months, I am thinking you really meant 4 weeks. Still pre op, also scheduled for July 10th. Sorry I'm no help. -

Nightmares And Frankenstein
TinkerToyz replied to Looking Ahead's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly, other than going to an ER, I don't think you are gonna find a single doctor willing to touch you right now. -
Officially APPROVED and now scheduled with the hospital for 10 am on July 10th. My hospital pre op is scheduled for this Thursday afternoon. Wooo Hooo Doing the Happy Dance!

Hey Jonathan, this is a tad off topic but I noticed you are from Atlanta and have picked a surgeon from New Iberia. Any special reasons you chose a Louisiana doc? Most of the surgerys I have had were done when I lived in La. and I loved all my docs there.

Too bad you can't get married to the man and leave his family baggage at the curb. I don't do in laws well at all, not any better with the second set than I was with the first set.

Magic Bullet Is The Bomb!
TinkerToyz replied to tara1021's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still pre op (but only for the next 9 days) and used my magic bullet for the first time today. I have just been using my shaker with the blender ball to mix my protein shakes and decided to try the bullet our. OMG it was amazing skim milk with a few ice cubes, a scoop of vanilla protein powder and a small banana. It was WONDERFUL. My husband even thought it was pretty delish.... -
I am tenatively scheduled for July 10th pending insurance approval. Add me to the calendar.

One Day Pre-Op On Magnesium Citrate
TinkerToyz replied to Jlewis229's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
My doctor bases the length of the pre-op diet on the BMI of the individual. The higher the BMI the longer the pre-op diet. My co-worker was told 10 days and I was told 5-6 days by the same doctor. -
Ya'll did better than I did, I can't even find the Texas Forum.
-
Correct me if I am wrong but aren't you only 6 days out from your sleeve. I do believe 6 days out I will still be eating only exactly what is on the list of allowed foods from my surgeon.

How Long Did It Take For Surgeon To Submit To Insurance Co?
TinkerToyz replied to vivienvixon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My last Nut visit will be this Saturday and I have been told my file will be submitted on the 25th or the 26th at the latest. I already have a tenative surgery date of July 10. -
Protein Shakes The Best, The Good, The Okay, And The Don't Do It List
TinkerToyz replied to ChristyLove's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am still pre-op and have ordered samples from several companies as well as buying samples at some of the local vitamin/nutrition shops. Oh Yeah,... I tried 3 different flavors, initially I thought they tasted too sweet, but the flavor grew on me before I finished the bottle. So far that is the only RTD brand I have tried. Chike... Ordered samples, don't recall my impression of the first few but knew I did not want to order more. I had the last sample pack yesterday for lunch, Very Vanilla or also called Very disgusting, I threw the entire shake away. About Time. I have tried most of the flavors and my favorite is Mocha Mint. As a rule I LOVE anything peanut butter, but I can't stomach the PB About Time. Unfortunately this was not a sample, and I will force myself to use the entire tub at some point. The flavoring in most of the flavors is rather mild but has no artificial taste. Body Fortress, I have tried all 4 flavors, and I love the Chocolate Peanut Butter. That is probably my favorite of all the flavors and brands. Still waiting on my Nectar samples to come in................ I have to bottles of Isopure to try, but just don't know if I am too anxious to even try them after hearing them called Isopuke. -
I have UHC and WLS monies do not apply towards the annual out of pocket max.

6 Month Supervised Diet?!
TinkerToyz replied to lovealways's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have United Healthcare and am required to have 3 months of nutritional sessions. Your employer is responsible for the stipulations and requirements not united healthcare. -
Yup, the 26 wild 7 years olds are probalby much closer to his office than a vacation spot in Florida in the event of an emergency.

Getting Post Op Stuff Together
TinkerToyz replied to mome2mad's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like I posted earlier, I love the ABOUT TIME shakes. All I have tried were really good EXCEPT the Peanut Butter, and I love peanut butter flavored anything. This is just nasty though. -
"I've quit before and I can do it now.. " If you are still smoking, you have not quit, you just took some long breaks. I took long breaks in the past too, but finally quit (cold turkey) for good 12/21/09 after many years of being a 2 pack a day smoker. Best decision I ever made. It is not easy, and it takes a ton of will power. If you don't have the will power to quit smoking, what makes you think you will have the will power to adopt the lifestyle changes WLS requires?

Getting Post Op Stuff Together
TinkerToyz replied to mome2mad's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love About Time, great taste, no Protein smell, no after taste and no gritty feeling. I've only tried one Snytrax and it was ok. Chike was way too artificial tasting to me. -
Finally Found Good Flavored Protein
TinkerToyz replied to urbandecayno5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might want to try "About Time". I ordered a multi pack of 12 individual packs that included 2 Vanilla, 2 strawberry, 2 chocolate, 2 Cinnamon Swirl, 2 Birthday Cake, 1 Mocha Mint and 1 Peaches & Cream. Each About Time Single Serve Pack contains 25 grams of 100% Whey Protein Isolate. (24 grams in Chocolate and Mocha Mint) No artificial flavoring. No artificial sweeteners. I have tried the Cinnamon and Strawberry so far. They are not overly sweet tasting like some of the other brands I have tried, nor is the flavor overpowering or artifical tasting. There is no chaulky after taste. They are sweetened with Stevia. 103-106 calories, 0 fat, 41 mg Sodium, 0 carbs http://www.tryabouttime.com/ -
Today, My Life Begins Where It Left Off...
TinkerToyz replied to Mamamia59's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can relate on so many levels to your post. I have always put the needs and wants of my family first and foremost. I have sacrificed in more ways that I can count. In doing so, I became a fat middle aged woman who sat and watched life pass her by. No more! This is my time. My son is grown, and meeting his needs is his responsibility now. My current husband is behind me 100%. My insurance will cover the majority of the cost for this procedure and he is already making plans to put money aside for the plastics I will require post weight loss. I am 59 years old and it is my time to shine. Best of luck to you in reaching your goal.
