    Boyfriend Problems!

In my opinion, the only way to truly end a toxic relationship is a clean break. Waffling back an forth helps neither of you move forward. If the relationship is as toxic as you say and you feel it is holding you back, why would you even consider prolonging it?

    Freaking Out About Jp Drain...

Pin the bulb to your underwear and tuck the tubing inside. Nothing will happen till morning. Unless you are my brother they just don't fall out. He is the only person I know who took out his own drain.
  3. Your doctor allows OJ post op? My plan says no citrus juice at all.

    A Tmi Question

Not a problem at all. Not yet sleeved yet but I am a nurse in a pre op holding area and this will not stop your surgery at all.

    Approval?!?

I have not had it yet, I am a July 10th sleever. I have worked at several hospitals that did strictly weight loss surgery and even taught a few seminars for them. I just know a lot about the procedures.
  6. What does your surgeon's plan say? There are almost as many different plans as there are surgeons, and regardless of what is on anyone elses plan, you need to stick to the one provided by your surgeon. Just my opinion for what it is worth.

    Approval?!?

The incision count can be anywhere from 1 (not real common at this point) to 7 (also not real common) but usually 4 or 5.

    Resturant Card To Print Out

I am not trying to be confrontational. As I said everyone is entitled to an opinion and I am not trying to sway anyone one way or another. What I posted was just a post from another forum that I happen to agree with. I just have no intention of embarrassing myself by announcing to total strangers that I could not control my eating and had to be surgically altered. Like I have heard my grandsons tell each other "You're not the boss of me". I am definitely not the boss of anyone but myself. Everyone is entitled to do as the so choose.

    Getting Approved By Insurance

Your surgeon's office is the entity that submits your paperwork to insurance. It is in their best interest to present your case in the most favorable way in order to insure approval. They don't get paid for doing the surgery if the surgery is not done. That being said, I honestly believe they do everything possible to make sure you get approved on the first submission. Failing to do so just creates more work for them and the doctor if peer to peer review is involved.
  11. I was told that I will need to consult with my PCP regarding my diabetic meds. I probably will not see her until almost 2 weeks post op for a regularly scheduled visit. In the meantime I don't know if I will be able to choke the Metformin down, and I plan to monitor my blood sugar more frequently post op that I had in the past and will take my amaryl accordingly till I see her.

    Resturant Card To Print Out

I copied this from a post on another forum and agree totally with what the poster says. Every one is entitled to have opinions, and I am not trying to sway anyone one way or another. This is just how I feel. It is a pretty long post. Some other options to flashing a card: 1) Order just Protein A La carte (a half rack of ribs, just a chicken breast) 2) Order a Soup or appetizer 3) Ask for a to-go box when you meal is dropped off, scoop off what you know you won't eat, and make 3 more meals out of that entree with sides 4) Buffets, Pay by the pound, you get a little to go box, get what you want, pay for it, and enjoy your food with your family without paying full price I bookmarked this from a previous topic on this subject because it sums up why I wouldn't ever use a card to let strangers know that I had my guts altered so I wouldn't be a fatty anymore. [Latest Posts]Post Date: 10/13/09 1:03 pm A “Restaurant Card” is a business cards sized card, often laminated, usually given by surgeons reading something to the effect of: The holder of this card has had a surgical procedure which has permanently reduced their stomach capacity. Therefore… It is greatly appreciated if you would allow them to order from the children’s menu or to purchase half-sized adult Entrees. Thank you for your consideration. 1. WLS Restaurant Cards differ from REAL Discount Cards such as AAA, Entertainment Book, etc. in one very important aspect: The REAL discounts are negotiated and agreed to by all parties in advance. The restaurant staff is briefed on how to handle the card. It is PRESUMPTUOUS to create and distribute a card asking/demanding a discount. 2. Restaurants are put into a losing position to start. If they say “no” to the card, which they had no part in creating or marketting, they are already making the customer unhappy. How is this fair even putting them in that position? Were I a restaurant owner, I would resent this card about as much as someone demanding a discount because they are a VIP (Very Important Person). 3. I had surgery. It was my choice to have my stomach modified so that I could only eat 3-5 ounces of food at a sitting. There are many people that have not had surgery that CHOOSE to eat 3-5 ounces of food at a sitting (imagine that!). I do not deserve a discount, or a special menu, any more than they do. 4. “I eat less than most children; I should pay what they pay”. Children’s prices are a marketing tactic to get parents to bring their kids (and themselves) to a restaurant. Children’s menu’s are not because children eat so little. Children’s menus are designed for children’s tastes. Bland and greasy. 5. Seniors Menus are also a marketing tactic to get seniors to come to the restaurant. If you’re not a senior, you don’t DESERVE a discount because you eat less than a senior. Many restaurants offer a ‘For Smaller Appetites’ Menu, this you may qualify for. 6. I don’t want the hostess, waitress, people behind me or near by, the busboy, or anyone else to know my medical history. It is none of their business, and I should not be making it their business simply to get a discount. 7. Buffets are “All you can eat for…” If all you can eat is 3-5 ounces, the price is the same as when you ate 30-50 ounces or 300-500 ounces. When you could eat 2, 3, or 4 times what the average person could eat, did you ask to pay more? Of course not. To remain morally consistent, you cannot ask to pay less now. 8. “I didn’t choose the buffet, my family did… Why should I pay when I only eat 3-5 ounces.” See #7. Further, you are there to be with your family or friends. Eating out now is even more about the company you keep rather that getting the most food for the least price. Actually, it should always have been about the company. 9. “I didn’t choose the buffet, my family did…” So, before WLS, did you pay less when you wanted Mexican food, but your family outvoted you and you ended up with Chinese? No, you went along to keep peace, to enjoy the company. Whatever your reasons were then, they’re the same now. 10. “I can’t eat all that, I can’t take leftovers home, I don’t want to waste it.” Waste it. Leaving leftovers is not the end of the world. In spite of what your mama said, leaving food on your plate is not a sin, and it will not help starving children in China for you to clean your plate now. You are not obliged to clean your plate. IN FACT, restaurants try to serve enough to satisfy large appetites and they expect people NOT to eat it all. They have trash cans out back for all the left over food. 11. Do you demand a discount at convenience store on a bag of potato chips because you can’t eat the whole bag, and a lot will go to waste? Why not, it’s the SAME THING. 12. dinner at Chili’s cost $15 before WLS, and you left satisfied. Post-op, the same dinner costs $15 and you leave satisfied. The only difference is you leave food on the plate rather than nose marks. Often, rather than ordering a $15 dinner, you can order $10 appetizer, and you are ahead of the game. 13. "Restaurants should be considerate of WLS Patients." Restaurants should be considerate of EVERYONE. There are many groups of adults that eat less than 'normal', yet they do not expect discounts. Obviously, or perhaps not so obviously, these arguments presume that people have integrity and that they desire their actions and opinions to be rational, supportable, and consistent. There are those that will do whatever is necessary to get a discount, which these arguments will not dissuade from this course.

    Waiting!

Good Luck, I have UHC also. I was submitted on June 25 or 26 and had my approval by July 2. Surgery is July 10th,
  14. You may want to pick ups some liquid acetaminophen (essentially liquid tylenol, though I don't think there is acutally a version made by the makers of tylenol) for times when you just need a little pain relief and not needing narcotics. I picked up mine at CVS. I checked walmart and they did not have any. While at walmart I did see something calle sleep quil by the people than make nyquil. It is essentially liquid benadryl. I take benadryl when I can't sleep so I might pick up a botle of that too.

    Wonton Enchiladas

Just type in wonton on the search bar (white area) just above the Page not Found notice and you can find it.

    Smoking

I quit a 2 pack a day (for more years than some of you have been alive) habit cold turkey Dec 21 2010. The first 72 hours were the hardest. I stayed busy and made it thru. Have not touched nicotine since, until now I viewed that as the best decision I had ever made.
  17. You may or may not be able to use the heating pad at this hospital. Many hospitals require that any electrical gadget be approved as electrically safe prior to use, others may not allow the use of heating pads at all. The only "warming pad or blanket" I have seen used in the hospitals in the last number of years is one that warms with warmed circulated Water. Additionally if you are a diabetic be very careful sleeping on the heating pads. They can cause burns.
  18. I hope you are able to stomach the Unjury better than I. I tried only the chicken and the vanillia, Both were bad enough to gag a maggot in my opinion and way more went down the drain than down my throat.
  19. It is to me. I think About Time has under 110 for all flavors and the other brand I use frequently has 140.

    Cant Live Without Products?

My co workers tell me I am anal, and I guess in many ways I am. I have been doing the Protein shakes for lunch for about 6 weeks now. I got tired of measuring out my scoop of powder each morning, a few weeks ago while just killing time I decided to measure out several portions of each flavor that I have. I used snack sized zip lock bags and a sharpie marker to label the bags C for chocolate, CPB for my chocolate Peanut Butter ..... tossed them into a open container now I just have to grab the one I want for the day. I also bought a new lunch tote. We have a communal fridge that is over crowded and I hate stuffing my lunch in there. So I use what is really a 9 can tote with an expandable top. It fits my frozen 20 oz Water bottle, my blender ball cup with my mild, and whatever I want to have for Breakfast, lunch and snack. The frozen water keeps things nice and cool and in my locker and not the communal fridge. I keep a few snack bags of Protein Powder in the unexpanded expandable top after making it to work a few times with out my powder (pre snack packaging days).
  21. I've tried several of the About Time flavors. You can order a few samples from them fairly cheaply. I personally like them because they are not overly sweet and are not chemical, artifical or protein tasting. They are 100% natural and not gritty tasting. Lower in calories than most shakes with that amount of protein. My personal favorite is the Mocha Mint, followed by Chocolate and Strawberry. DO NOT buy the peanut butter. It is pure nasty.
  22. No, not all doctors use the injections post op, and those that do don't always use them on every patient. My doctor has already told me that I will not be required to take them based on my pre op activity level. I will get on injection of heparin pre op. I've never has an injection of lovenox, but my patients tell me they do sting a bit.

    Syntrax Nectar

Johnathan, I sure hope you like your unjury better than I did. I have tried probably 10 brands of whey protein powder and Unjury is my least favorite. I managed to choke down about 1/4 of the chicken soup and even less than that of the vanillia. I have not had the nerve to try the chocolate or strawberry. The only other brand I could not tolerate was Chike.
  24. I am so gland I only ordered the unjury starter pack. I am still pre or but have been doing shakes for lunch for almost 2 months. Unjury without a doubt was the most disgusting to cross my lips. The first sip of the chicken was marginally tolerable, and rapidly went to totally untolerable within 7-8 sips. To the sink it went. The vanilla did not even taste tolerable from the get go.
