First, Happy Birthday!!! I agree with the ladies--do something for YOU-mani, pedi, facial sounds perfect. This journey you are on should be all about YOU taking care of YOU!!! I lost my mother in October and understand how difficult it can be doing those things without her.

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
Musharooni replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I suffered from heartburn horribly before my surgery and was on omeprazole and was my gp had to up my dose from 1 to 2 times per day, when that wasn't enough she said we needed to try something else because everytime I was feeling heartburn meant the potential for damage to my esophagus was inevitable which meant possibility of esophageal cancer. I was switched to Dexilant 1x per day and never had an issue--even if I missed a dose, I was good for 24 hours. Following my sleeve, my surgeon put me on omeprazole and it was not taking care of me for the full day, I asked if I could go back to the Dexilant and he approved it. Haven't had an issue since. If you are having to take that many doses of Omeprazole, you could be in danger of other issues from the acid. You may want to work with your doctor on finding something else. -

OMG--can so identify with the peanut butter thing--had what I refer to as a "near death experience" after adding peanut butter into a smoothie a couple of nights ago. I was so sick! It felt more like motion sickness than typical nausea. It will be a loooooooonnnnnngggg time before I try any pb again! -
How Did You Choose Your Screen Name?

It was a childhood nickname one of my uncles gave me. -

My NUT recommended I take the Flintstone complete chewables--two a day--in addition to my calcium. I inquired about gummies and she said that the gummies did not provide adequate iron. Again, this is according to my NUT, I am not an expert in any way shape or form on these.

So excited--I have my first NSV!!! Today is 22 days since my sleeve and at my Dr. visit this week he gave me the "OK" to start exercising moderately--he recommend I start with 10-15 minutes of brisk walking 4-5 days a week and gradually build up the duration. Well, today after lunch I decided to take a cruise around my office building and one of my coworkers (I have been very open about my WSL so he was aware) was crossing the hall and backed up and said "Dang! I can definately see some weight loss but I don't ever remember seeing you move so fast! You must really be feeling great, huh????" He then walked with me chatting for a few minutes and dropped off saying, "Sorry, I can't keep up with you at this pace." Woo Hooo!!!!! Goooooo ME!!!!!!!!!!!

Self Pay: Is It All That It Seems?
Musharooni replied to txdee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My cost was $14k which included hospital, surgeon, pre-op tests, nutritionist, and 1 year follow-ups. It was all in writing. -
I, too, suffered from severe constipation in the beginning after a lifetime of being "regular". I tried one colace at bedtime initially & got some relief, bumped it up to two at bedtime for a few days and have had no more issues. I've been doing this for about 4 days now. Tonight I am going to go back to one at bedtime and see if that will do the trick or if I need to keep on taking 2.

Day 3 And Holy Heartburn
Musharooni replied to ooffa511's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Heartburn hell here, too. Used to wake up in the night nauseated from the heartburn. Was having to do multiple doses of Omeprazole due to "bleed thru". Switched to 1 Dexilant a day and no more heartburn. -
What Foods Should I Eat One Last Time B4 Surgery?
Musharooni replied to Amom2twins's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Being from South Louisiana, I went for boiled crawfish. I know that I will be able to have them again next year, but I knew that was my last opportunity until next season. I also enjoyed the boiled potatoes, hot dogs, and dip that go along with it. -
Hi! I'm 16 days into this journey and feeling good about it so far! It has been interesting--especially since I decided to use this opportunity to quit smoking as well--figure if I'm going to take the steps to improve my quality of life I'm going all in!!! I have cut myself off from the scale and am only allowing myself one weigh-in a week--initially I felt like I was jumping on the scale hourly, it was so exciting watching the pounds drop off. Figured I better cut that out before things levelled off and I wanted to avoid the possibly of discouragement from the frequent weigh ins.

I told everyone at work why I was going to be out. At first I was certain if I was going to do that or not, thought there might be some negative comments, and let's face it, I had finally faced my demons and there was some embarrasment about how out of hand my weight had gotten, and subsequently my health because of it. Then I realized I had nothing to be embarrassed about as I was "taking the bull by the horns" and my VSG would give me the tools I needed to get back on track. Well, I'm glad I told people. Everyone in my company that is aware has been so supporting and encouraging, it makes me feel that much better about my decision and lets me know I WILL be successful at this with all of the support I have around me both at home and at work. I came back to work 12 days post op. My employer is working with me and I found I was really wiped after the 1st day, so I worked from home on the 2nd day.

How Much Can You Eat?
Musharooni replied to anniew's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 8 days Post Op and can tell you I never realized how many food shows are on TV until this past week at home post op! I, too, don' t have an issue with liquids--as long as I sip slowly and take small sips. That feeling of fullness is astounding me, too, especially when its just a few ozs. of plain vanilla yogurt. My 14 day liquid Pre Op really opened my eyes to how much of my food issues were mental, so I have prepared myself to deal with this Post Op. I agree, sleeving for the brain would probably be a much better option.
