Congrats! That reminded me of a "funny" story. I had sinus surgery last week and the scale weighed me in kg. I weigh in kg. what I want to weigh in pounds. I also found it comical that the nurde weighing me really thought she needed to tell me my weight was in kg. and not pounds. Yeah, thanks. I know I don't weigh 135 pounds. :-) ~Amy

The nutritionist told ne it isn't absorbed very well in the stomach and even less with small tummies. Hence, the need for sublingual. ~Amy

A Little Trick To Spruce Up Protein Shakes

Thanks! I've only heard good things too about both Dr. Nick and FP. The only "negative" thing I heard is Dr. Nick doesn't see you after surgery. Was that true with you? How long did you stay in the hospital? Do you go to the monthly support groups at Baylor Plano?

When/where was your surgery? Any regrets using Dr. Nick?

I've tried the Unjury and it is what I find tolerable and what I planned on using until the BA salesman told me I needed meal replacement preop. I'm still not sure why meal replacement is necessary preop but not postop. I got kinda a runaround answer when I questioned that.

Thanks for sharing your experience. More and more, I think I'm leaning away from them except for maybe their peanut high Protein bar which I loved.

Sitting "ladylike"

That is great. I can't wait to do that one day. -
I agree that your husband should be on your "team". However, you cannot control what he chooses to do and what may come of it with his aunt and cousin. It's his decision and it's him who will have to suffer the consequences of his choice. You wouldn't be responsible for that and shouldn't worry about it, IMHO. I hope for you that he keeps his mouth shut and lets y'all enjoy "your vacation". Good luck!

I've always had a Water bottle or cup with a straw so I need to get something I can have with me after surgery that doesn't have a straw. I've heard the straw is a bad idea because it allow one to swallow air. Do you think the water bottles with the built in straw would work or would they too allow me to suck in air? See an example of what I'm talking about here: http://www.sportsauthority.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11367011&cp=2291414.2291416&view=all&parentPage=family Thanks for any words of advice.

I tend to be a fast drinker....especially with a straw. However, postop, the straw might be an advantage. I have straw Water bottles so I think I'm gonna get one without so I have both options for whatever works best. Thanks! ~Amy

Thanks y'all. I did find one that has the straw in it but you can take it out and it becomes a sipper. That may be the way to go especially since I might forget to drink slower.

I got the impression that an EGD scope was pretty much a preop test everyone has. My doctor didn't prescribe one for me? Anyone else not have to have one?

I have my first appointment the my doctor on Monday so I'm very early in this process. However, I've already starting trying different Protein powders as I am an EXTREMELY PICKY eater/drinker. I simply do not like sugar free things because I've yet to find a sugar substitute that I can tolerate. Anyway, my question for y'all is during your preop diet and liquid portion of your postop diet, did you have to drink the Protein powder with milk/water or could you actually make a smoothie/shake using fruit. I just cannot see getting it down without being able to "hide" it. Thanks!

I too use a WW scale. People talk about their scale not being accurate, but I'm not sure they have to be so long as you are consistently weighing in on it. If you get on your scale and you are losing, then you are losing. If you get to a specific number on your scale and you are comfortable, then stay at that number on your scale. One could probably weigh on 100 differerent scales and get a lot of different weights.
