Nutrition Information For Recipes
Back~To~Amy posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have a ton of recipes from back in my Weight Watcher days that all have the points listed. A lot of them don't have the nutrition information. Obviously, post VSG, I now want to track other things like Protein, carbs and calories. Is there a website on line or a program I could buy to plug in my recipes to get the nutrition informaiton on them? Thanks! -

Wanting To Eat Forbidden Food Before Surgery!
Back~To~Amy replied to ButterflyAngel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate anything and everything I love right up until my two week preop diet started. It was kinda like having my last meal over and over. Amazingly, I didn't gain weight. On my 2 week preop diet I lost 14 pounds. Since surgery 9 days ago, I've lost another 10. -
Have To Loose 15 Pounds...frustrated
Back~To~Amy replied to Shaniceh01's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to do a preop diet that was a shake for 2 meals, 3 high protein snacks and 1 meal that included 5 oz. of lean protein and 2 cups of non-starch veggies. I lost 14 pounds in 2 weeks. You might try it. It's good practice anyway for the liquid diet you will have to follow postop. Good luck to you! -

In The Hospital - Pre-Op 1 Day
Back~To~Amy replied to newlook's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am only 8 days (well 9 now that it is past midnight) post op and after surgery I had quite a few moments of "what the he#@ did I do to myself?" moments. What I figured out was it was directly due to my pain level. I haven't had any of those moments in days now. I'm actually very excited for the journey ahead of me. Best of luck to you! -

June 2012 Sleevers Post Op Check In
Back~To~Amy replied to robin33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for your suggestion. I am extremely picky about artificial sweetener and it took me forever to find a protein source I could tolerate. I still like it postop but my new tummy sure doesn't. On the next couple of days I plan to get the little 2 oz. cups with lids and portion it out so that I a, drinking it slower and throughout the day. -

It is my understanding the portion of the stomach that produces ghrelin is only removed in the VSG procedure. During my seminar the physician was very detailed about each procedure (band, VSG, RNY) and their advantages and disadvantages. He never mentioned that the portion of the stomach that produces ghrelin was removed during the RNY and I think he would have if it was. Also, in all my research, I never read anything about the ghrelin producong portion of the stomach being removed during the RNY procedure.

Any Techniques For Minimizing Leaks?
Back~To~Amy replied to SylviaMom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah, following the postop diet and not cheating is a huge key to not having leaks. My doctor keeps his patients on a 3 week postop diet. He has a no leak record on people who didn't cheat that. Good luck to you. -
Gallbladder Issues?
Back~To~Amy replied to mistyf6572's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine out in 2007. If you start having pain on the right side of your abdomen toward the bottom of your rincage, it is most likely your gallbladder. However, gallbladder pain can radiate too to other areas. Just be aware of it and check with your doctor if you have any abnormal pains. Especially due to the higher risk of having issues with it. For me, having my gallbladder removed was much easier than my VSG. -
Congrats on meeting your first goal! Let us know about that Genie Bra. I always wondered about those but am still to big to try them out.
