    Nope. You sure won't!

Good luck on your surgery and the journey that lies ahead. Let us know how you are doing when you feel up to checking back in here.

    Happy. So Very, Very Happy.

I'm 15 days postop and had some "what in the heck did I get myself into" moments early on. I quickly figured out they were only when I didn't have adequate pain control. That being said, I find my whole attitude about life is much improved. I find myself thinking how happy I am and how excited I am for this journey and for what lies ahead in the future. I am so very happy and excited I had this surgery!

    Gallbladder Issues...?

Oops! I wasn't clear. My gallbladder surgery was in 2007. My VSG was just 15 days ago. I'm sure people who had their gallbladder removed after their VSG will come along and share their experience. Also, according to Webmd, only up to about 25% of people have gallbladder issues after WLS.
  5. I wish I was only on liquids for 2 weeks postop. I'm on them for 3 weeks. Thank goodness I nice to mushies next Tuesday cause I'm so over liquids. On the sugar note, I'm not worried about the amount either. What you can have on the postop diet is so limited. I figure I'll adjust my diet once I'm on a normal one free of postop restrictions.

    Average Hospital Stay

I was in 2 nights. I had issues with pain control. I think it was finally under control as, when the doctor came in to see me about 7:30 pm on Wednesday, I was 100% convinced it was Thursday morning. He told me I was staying the night (my 2nd night) again. I had planned to anyway due to pain issues but my drugged up state secured that. :-)

    Gallbladder Issues...?

It seems as though it is common. I had mine removed in 2007 and the surgery for me was much less painful than the VSG.
  8. Good luck to all having surgery tomorrow! Check in when you can!
  9. Are you having surgery on June 5th at Forest Park with Dr. Nicholson. There are three of us - kstalvey, txdee and me who are. If you are, let us know. It would be nice to have each other as support.

    Blood Clots

Yeah, I agree with not self-medicating. I also had the cuffs on from right before surgery until I was discharged. I also had meds in the hospital to thin my blood. And finally, because is had another surgery 8 weeks prior, I had to give myself shots in my tummy for 10 days after I got out of the hospital. That pretty much cured me of my needle phobia. Anyway, I digress. Talk to your surgeon. Blood clots are a risk, but not a huge one unless you have other things like I did that make you a higher risk. If you are, there are things your doctor can do.
  12. Welcome to the boards! Everyone around here is super supportive no matter where you are in your journey. I look forward to seeing you around here. Best of luck in your journey!
  13. Good luck to all of you having surgery tomorrow. Also, a special wish to my sleeve brother DadTo2! You won't like Dr. Nick too much in the next few days. Trust me though, you will like him again soon enough. The folks at FP are wonderful!

    Worried About My Daughter

Oops! I see you already addressed what I brought up. We were posting at the same time.

    Worried About My Daughter

This is such a hard area. Putting your child on a diet or exercise routine could be damaging to their psyche. Diet = restriction no matter how you look at it. What you can do is get the junk out of the house. By not having it there, you will be cooking and preparing healthier meals for her and Snacks will be limited to more nutritious choices. As far as exercise, I would do as the poster above said, use play as her form of exercise. Swimming, bike riding, family walks, or anything she might see as fun and not work. Best of luck to you!

Sorry for highjacking your post with weather and body temp talk. Congrats on your weight loss so far!

    Feeling Good

I'm only down 27 so far and notice I'm not using my fan every night at bedtime like I was preop!

    Feeling Good

Aw, that is why you are cold. I'm hoping with weight loss, my heat intolerance will diminish. I HATE summers these days. I loved them though when I was a normal weight. Hoping too again one day.

    Feeling Good

I'd love to be wherever you are!
  20. Walking regularly is the best way to ward off blood clots. The doctors, nurses and techs always made sure I was up and walking as much as possible. On the shakes front, the Premier Protein Shakes you get from Sam's or costco are very good. You can buy chocolate and vanilla there. strawberry has to be ordered on line. As you hang out here more, you will see Premier come up a lot. It is very good and very popular around here. Welcome and good luck to you in your journey. I look forward to seeing you around here.

How Can People Not See It?

I lost 75 pounds many years ago and from that experience I know it takes a long time for you to see weight loss in yourself. Taking regular pics can help though. For some reason, it is easier to see our own weight loss in pics.

    Discrimination :(

Hi there. The world can truly be a harsh place sometimes. The reality is that there is a lot discrimination happening and obese people are one of the groups it happens to. It's just a sad reality to me that anyone, for any reason, is discriminated against and I'm sorry that it's happened to you. Are there any local weight loss support groups in your area such as OA or one at a hospital? Some of the hospitals in my area have support groups specifically for people who have had or who are considering WLS. You might be able to connect with others in that setting. Lord knows, they shouldn't discriminate against you. Oh, and a side note, if you click on the symbol by your post that looks like part of a down arrow, you can edit any mistakes.

    Introduction - Surgery! :)

Hi Amy. I am also Amy. Welcome to the boards. I'm 12 days post op. Actually, 13 since it is past midnight and I couldn't be happier with my decision to have the sleeve. This is my only surgery, but there are plenty of others around here who are band to sleeve revision such as you will be. Heck, there are several RN's around here too. This is a wonderful place to hang out. The people on these boards are wonderful and very supportive. I look forward to seeing you around here!
