Does Anyone Have Some Time To Help Me With This Letter?
Back~To~Amy replied to hm734's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a bit confused. Do you need to send a letter or you just want to? I understood your post to say the third pary company would go ahead and cover you with a new physical and updated labs. I'd be glad to help you though! I just don't understand why you need this letter. Are you afraid they aren't going to cover you with what you've already done? Just PM me your email address and a little more details about why you want or need to send this letter so I understand and I'll help you off the boards. -
Congrats! That's a great NSV!

How Much Time Should I Take Off From Work?
Back~To~Amy replied to upenzi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor gave me 3 weeks off. I'm lucky. I still have problems sitting up too long. It makes the area of my big incision hurt. I guess that will be my little reminder to get up and walk a bit. -

where is my period? for the ladies...
Back~To~Amy replied to mommytoethan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had sinus surgery exactly 8 weeks prior to my VSG. Two days later, I started my period and it lasted a little over a week which is somewhat longer than usual for me. Then, I had no period until about 5 days after my 06/05/12 VSG surgery. Here I am 16 days postop my VSG amd I'm still on my period. Finally though, it is starting to slow down quite a bit. My periods have been almost non-existent in the past few years due to my weight. Truthfully, I liked only having a few periods a year. I think with weight loss they will probably come back. Where's menopause when you need it? :-) -
Wanting To Eat Forbidden Food Before Surgery!
Back~To~Amy replied to ButterflyAngel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are quite welcome. After surgery, you will definitely feel physically full faster. As I said, I'm still on my postop diet so I "eat" a lot of soups. I notice if I have chicken broth, I can have 6 to 8 oz. before I feel full. If I have a cramed Soup, I can have usually 5 spoonfuls at the most. And, that spoonful is a cocktail spoon which is just a tad bit bigger than most baby spoons. Right now, I'm working on the mental battle with food. Yes, 5 cocktail spoonfuls makes my belly stuffed. But my head still wants more because it tastes so good. It is really hard not to overeat right now. It's a battle of the physical and mental for me right now! :-) -

Favorite Bariatric Vitamins And Suppliments ?
Back~To~Amy replied to Alex Brecher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only use 1 Bariatric specific vitamin and that is the Bariatric Advantage chewable calcium in the cinnamon flavor. I use it simply because I love cinnamon and, although a little chalky, it tastes like a treat to me. I put it in my mouth and let it dissolve. I get more cimnamon flavor and letting it dissolve makes it less chalky. -
Good to hear that you are doing well! Congrats on being sleeved!

I am 15 days postop and have found that warm liquids go down much easier than cold ones. I've read quite a few people who have commented about that too so I'm assuming it is common. My question is if that is always the case or just something that is common in the short term following surgery?

Gallstones Found
Back~To~Amy replied to newgrandmother11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you decide to do something like this, do it under a physician's care. I don't want to scare you, but just like your appendix can rupture, your gallbladder can too and that can be dangerous. -
I think I wished you well on another post, but it never hurts to have extra well wishes!

Trader Joe's Genoa & Provolone Pack
Back~To~Amy replied to SleeveDreamer's topic in Food and Nutrition
Yum! Sounds very good. I'm excited to be getting a TJ in my area in September. I'll have to look for this. -
My surgeon had a Bariatric Advantage rep at his office the day of my consult. I met with him after my doctor appoint, ent to try everything. At the same time he filled out this sheet with what I liked so they knew what to send me. When I finally saw the cost of it all, I said no way in heck. Good thing my doctor didn't require I use their products. I have a serious problem with a surgeon who requires you use one product or another. I'd suggest you talk to your doctr and explain your reason for wanting a lower cost option. Good luck to you!

I'm 15 days postop now and I find warm liquids go down easier too. From other posts I've read, I think that is fairly common.

Really Worried And Afraid Of Failure
Back~To~Amy replied to leighx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I second this. Because of your stomach size you now have different dietary issues. Hopefully, your school will allow what you need especially, if you have a letter of necessity from your surgeon. Good luck to you!
