Where Did You Get Your Ramekins?

I'm at Kohks right now. Saw ramekins and thought if this post. They have a set of 4 Food Network brand in sale for 13.99.
  3. I am 16 days postop and am due to return to work next Wednesday where i sit at a desk the majority of my 8 hour day I still have trouble sititng up for long periods of time though due to pain in the area of my abdomen where my big incision was. Do you think a Spanx type garment would help? I hate to spend the money on them since they are pricy and I probably won't fit into it long, but I will if it's what will help. Anyone have any similar issue that you could tell me what you did that worked? Thanks!

    Post-Op Liquids

Good suggestion about drinking liquids warm or at room temp. I do find too that they go down easier.

    Post-Op Liquids

You are definitely not alone on this. I'm only 16 days postop and still cannot get in all of my protein. I made a similar post right after surgery and people told me not to worry about protein too much at that point. At this stage, you really need to work first on getting in your liquids. If you can't do protein, use water, crystal light, broth, sf Popsicles, etc. You are no good to yourself of you get dehydrated. The protein will come. Good luck to you and welcome to the boards!

    Hitting The Beach

It is hard to know what to suggest when we don't know where you are in your journey and if you are on any of the stages of the postop diet. Please elaborate.

    Sitting Up

Yes, definitely get some rest. I hope you feel better soon too. One day, we will be skinny and all this will be just a distant memory!

    Bowling Ball

Okay, yes, that is totally normal. I know you don't like pain meds, but they will help that. If your Tyelnol isn't working and that feeling is really bothering you then you might want to call your doctor about a different pain med. There are many out there so you should be able to get one without the itching side effect.

    Sitting Up

Yeah, I noticed the need to stand up and stretch too after sitting to long. I felt so good about a week and a half out, I started doing LITTLE projects around the house. A day later, amd for a few days thereafter, I was in serious pain in the area of my big incision. At my 2 week postop visit on day 13 postop, the PA I saw told me that is so common. I didn't even tell her about my activity but she knew that is what did it. She said she hears the same compalints from a lot of people. I think your situation is similar. Your increased activity is aggravating that area. Good thing is, according to my PA, you are just aggravating a healing area. You are not doing any damage. You might try a heating pad. I sure plan too. That and probably some Tyelnol.

    Bowling Ball

Im not 100% sure what you mean by heaviness. I had more of a pulling sensation all over my abdomen. I'm 16 days out now. On my left side where my big incision is, I still feel that sensation. I know that is completely normal. If you have doubt about your symptoms, call your doctor. I hope you feel better soon. For the first week or so, I pretty much felt like I'd been hit by a big truck. It does get better. I promise.
  11. The CPT code for the surgery depends on where the scars are. You can Google "CPT code scar revision __________ (location)" and get the codes. If it is only cosmetic, insurance companies usually won't cover them. However, if they are causing problems like pain because say your bra strap rubs on them, you have a better shot of getting them covered. Good luck.

Thanks! I think we sometimes forget we had major surgery and complete healing takes awhile. As a matter of fact, I'm still healing from and having postop visits from my extensive sinus surgery done 8 weeks prior to my VSG. As my ENT said, complete healing after surgery takes time.
  13. Hey y'all. I'm Amy. I live in Coppell and work in Plano. I love the idea of having meet ups with other locals. I think the support is wonderful. When I initially was going to have the band, I started a DFW support group on a lapband board. I collected information (name, location, email, cell phone #, and personal information each person wanted to share) and made a chart and emailed it to everyone in the group. It makes it easier to get to know each other and to contact everyone for get togethers. Tonibugg, I'd be happy to do that with this group if you want me to. I don't wanna butt in on what you started unless you are okay with it. If you are, y'all can PM me any information about you. Include your email and I will send the chart to everyone.

It takes time. I am sorry you are feeling cruddy. A low grade fever is normal early out. However, of it has or ever does reach 101 degrees you need to call your doctor. Hang in there and take it easy. Be sure to get lots of rest and lots of fluids in. Oh, and use you're pain meds if you aren't. That early out, my level of pain was very closely connected to my overall mental well being. As a side note, I was feeling really good about a week and a half out that I started to do small things around the house. I noticed intense pain a day later in the are of my abdomen where my big incision was. When I had my 2 week postop visit 13 days out, I told the PA of my pain. I didn't tell her of my increased activity. Guess what? She knew about it and told me it is so very common. So just be careful when you soon start to feel better. Don't overdo it too quickly.

    For The Love Of Crackers

I imagine this would be fun to experiment with. You could make crackers with all kinds of flavors. If you do this, will you make post and let is know what you used and how it turned out. I'm not so much a cook bit would be willing to try it. Especially if you or someone else here does and posts that it made good crackers. I love me some crackers too and I wouldn't feel bad if they were healthy with protein in them.

Will I Ever Be Able To....

Does that kinda make it taste like coffee with creamer and sugar? How strong is the vanilla taste over the coffee taste?

    For The Love Of Crackers

I googled recipe for high Protein crackers and found this which might be helpful to you: You can use any cracker recipe and replace up to 1/3rd of the flour called for with your choice of soy isolate, bean powder etc. As an example a standard cracker recipe would use 2 cups flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 2 tsps yeast and enough Water to make a dough suitable for rolling thin. You could replace 2/3rd cup of the flour with soy isolate or any bean powder, cornmeal, oatmeal, amaranth etc. Replace the water with veggie juices also if you like. Just get creative and go NUTS with experimenting! That's what makes baking fun<G>. Oh, roll the dough thin! A Pasta roller is handy but a rolling pin works fine. To get an even roll wrap rubber bands around either end of the pin, when the band hits the work surface you're ready to cut crackers. A pizza wheel works quite well,as to ravioli wheels or any sharp kitchen knife. You can get round crackers by pressing a glass rim into the thin sheet of dough. Bake at 350-500 until the cracker barely starts to brown. Cool on wire racks to insure crispness.

June 2012 Sleevers Post Op Check In

[quote name="McSleevy ] Glad to hear that you are doing well.. I said a prayer for you on your surgery date. On a different note' date=' I have read A LOT of people on here talking about a "drain." When I was at my pre-op appointment last week I asked my doctor if I would have a drain after surgery at any point and he said NO. Weird... So what is this "drain"??[/quote'] It is a tune that comes put of you allowing excess fluids/blood to drain out. Not all doctors use them. In my opinion, be glad you don't have to have one. Mine didn't bother me at all whole it was in me. However, when they removed it it hurt like he*#! It felt like they were pulling out all of my insides with it. I was so glad when all that pulling was over!
