What All Tests Were Required Preop?
Back~To~Amy replied to ladiJ's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was cash pay so all my doctor required was lab work and an ekg to make sure I was healthy enough to go under anesthesia and have surgery. A lot of the things (like a sleep study) are required by the insurance company. You might call the doctor's office and ask what they require. It sounds to me like you are getting super close to surgery. Best of luck in your journey! -
Body Dysmorphia In Reverse
Back~To~Amy replied to Christine1322's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it truly is one of those mysteries if the brain. As you lose weight you probably won't see it. I'm down 40 pounds and people say they see it. I don't. I know its happening because I've gone down a pants size and am not far from going down again, so logically I know my body must look smaller, but I see no change. I'm hoping next Monday when I do pics again, I will see it. -
I can feel how great you feel just by reading your post. Congrats on paying off your surgery and getting your plane ticket. 62 days will be here before you know it.

Super Bummed....surgery Cancelled
Back~To~Amy replied to momoftwoboys's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bless your heart. I can only imagine how much of a let down it is. We get so hyped up and ready for surgery. My big fear was not passing my preop exam even though I'd passed the one for my sinis surgery about 6 weeks earlier. Hang in there. They will get your anemia under control and you will have your day. -

I Really Need Advice So Please Help Me :) I Feel Really Bad.
Back~To~Amy replied to Karen2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have anything to add as far as shakes go. However, as far as chewing goes, try sf Popsicles or Sonic ice. I chewed the heck out of it in the liquid stage. -
Wow! You look great. Keep it up!

A Few Post-Op Questions
Back~To~Amy replied to jiji's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds to me like you would be fine with the diet portion of this Jiji. The thing to remember is if, for some reason, you have mood issues they are temporary. Like I said, I've been in the best mood since surgery unless my pain was out of control. Not everyone is but there is no way to know for sure how you'll be until you are there. Keep reding here and asking questions. You will get a load of information. Best of luck to you! -
Is Farina Considered Liquid? What Else To Eat?
Back~To~Amy replied to ChristyLove's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
The rule for me was if it would go easily through a strainer, I could have it. Truthfully, at that stage I didn't worry about carbs. I had a lot of them actually and did fine. I lost 18 pounds during my 3 week postop diet. -

Coworkers Want To Know What Your Highest Wt Was!
Back~To~Amy replied to Piplula's topic in Rants & Raves
This is an issue that has come up in my mind quite a bit. I'm only 5 weeks out and haven't decided how to handle this. I ultimately want to lose 150 to 160 pounds. If people ask Mr and I tell them, they will be able to guess with some sense of accuracy that I was around the 300 pound mark give or take. I've never admitted my true weight to anyone in real life but my bff. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with people knowing it. Not that it's any secret I'm fat. One look and you know. -
A Few Post-Op Questions
Back~To~Amy replied to jiji's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 weeks postop today. I'm not sure I'm far enough to give a knowledgeable answer about my feelings of my relationship with food since I am probably in the honeymoon period. So, that being said, here is my two cents. I have not once had real hunger since surgery. I have had head hunger. During my 2 week preop diet and 3 week liquid diet, I had it quite a lot of it. I didn't get grumpy about it. I just wasn't overly chipper. Now, that I am eating most real food again, I've had very little head hunger. Food just isn't controlling me now like it used to. Again, I'm only 5 weeks out so who knows if that will change in the future. Now, about the emotional part of it. I've read of people who suffered a lot of depression postop. I think I was the polar opposite of that. U never had that depression people talk about from lose of fat cells. I had some temporary down times but they were due only to pain. When my pain was under control, I felt unbelievably happy. I felt like I walked with a happy bounce in my step. All of my pain issues ended a week ago today, and I've never felt better in a VERY, VERY long time! Oh, and the really good part is I'm down 40 pounds and my body is already feeling tremendously better. One more thing, I spoke of my pain. I've been told in the past by more than one doctor that I have a high tolerance for pain. For some reason, I didn't handle this pain well. I think though I'm on the extreme end. I've seen lots of people post that they didn't need any pain meds past being discharged from the hospital. This surgery is one of the best decisions I have ever made. It was worth every penny! Good luck to you as your explore your option to have or not have VSG. -

Back~To~Amy replied to blondeej's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So yesterday my scale was down just a bit but I've been going up and down between 2 1/2 pounds for awhile now so I was only a little hopeful. I toyed with the idea of not weighing again until next Monday but I too am a scale wh*re and that thought didn't last. This morning I promptly got up, pews and jumped on the scale and............ I WAS DOWN TWO POUNDS!!!! I hope this means I'm back to going down, down, down. I hope the rest of you get past your stalls sooner than later. -
I only had complete liquids postop and was on them for 3 weeks. Edit.....oops! Just realized you asked about preop. Sorry! I did it for two weeks but it included 1 low carb meal a day.

I had some minor issues with it. Since surgery in June 5th, I've had zero reflux and I'm on no medicine for it.

Important Question
Back~To~Amy replied to newgrandmother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think there is a happy medium brawny eating too little calories and losing weight and eating too many calories and gaining weight. For each person, it will ne different so it will probably mean tracking your calories and adjusting them up or down to find your happy medium. In WW that is what they have you do but its based on their Points system which really translates into calories. Hopefully someone on maintenance will tell now they did it. -

When Does The Pain Of Drinking Liquids Go Away?
Back~To~Amy replied to girlfriday's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't exactly remember but I was back to small gulps last week at 4 weeks postop so I know it doesn't last long. I hope it gets better for you soon. -
Is The Liquid Diet Easier Postop?
Back~To~Amy replied to skinnycupcake13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, the liquid postop diet wasn't easier. Yes, I had trouble getting my liquids like others but in but my head I wanted to chew real food. I was never so glad when that 3 weeks was over. -
You might start a new post with you doctor's name and see if anyone had used the same one. They would know the requirements.
