I am up in Grande Prairie, not very close but close enough to Edmonton. I had my surgery May 20th in Mexico, and have had no issues (knock on wood)

Different Hair Loss Question (I Hope)
mkardh posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok everyone has talked about hair loss. What I want to know is who HAS NOT suffered from hair loss. Is this something to be 100% expected or is there a chance some of us won't experience this? -
Wow that is terrible. I too am an animal lover and my grief is unbearable when I lose 1. I am so sorry to here about your fur babies. Don't turn to food, you've worked too hard to get where you are!

So when everyone talks about the dreaded 3 week stall how are we to look at it? Do you stall around 3 weeks post op? Or do you stall for 3 weeks? I have stalled for around 3 weeks now and am hoping to start losing again, I also started this stall around 2-3 weeks post op.

I've also wondered about the straw thing...... why can't we use one? Seems weird to me.

I got extremely bitchy for a while. I think I was having withdrawls from carbohydrates, pop, and everything else I gave up when I started the pre-op diet. I was sleeved May 20th and still have moments of pure bitchiness.

I was sleeved May 20th, and quit smoking if February. I ended up gaining another 20lbs while quitting. Once my pre op diet started I focused on losing weight and not gaining more. I did cheat on pre op but not in an excessive way, I would eat a piece of cheese when I thought I would go crazy and I steered clear of carbs and pop. I lost 6 lbs during the 10 day pre op and was still able to have the surgery. Keep in mind I was self pay and my guess is that they aren't as strict. I did ask the doctor how my liver was and he said everything looked fine during the surgery.

Just wondering if anyone has ever had the same thing. For the past 2 days my cheeks have been burning red, it is very uncomfortable and am not sure what is causing it. No allergies, and my first thought is a LEAK!! other then the burning I do have a headache but otherwise feel physically fine, any ideas?
-
Its just the cheeks, I do have some flaking but nothing unusual. I tend to get really freaked out over anything that might be a sign of a leak. I will be picking up a themometer after work to check my temp. Will let you know if I find anything out.

down 23 lbs. Was sleeved May 20th.

How easy is it to stretch your sleeve? I have seen different topics where people have "stretched" their sleeve and are gaining weight. Are they binging and eating the wrong foods? I am one week post op and am scared that this can happen to me. I know if I follow the rules I should be fine but once in a while I would like to enjoy the naughty things like a burger or hotdog. And if your sleeve stretches how much stretching can it actually do?

I got sleeved May 20th so I am only 4 days post op. On the bright side I'm not hungry. On the other side I can't stop thinking about food.... things I want to eat, I would love a bite of mashed potatoes!!! But I'm not hungry, I know I am not the only one that is dealing with this. I dreamt about chicken last night. But I'm not hungry.... dealing with the head hunger is terrible. Can we "sleeve" our brains? I know it will get better as I progress through the next few weeks and start seeing the scale drop. I head home tomorrow so hopefully being hame and not stupid bored in a hotel room will make a difference, but I have to remember I am not hungry.... just a bit crazy!!!

Hey StrangelyNormal!! I am just finishing my recovery time with the bajamedgroup. I leave for home Friday morning! I am very happy with my recovery and have been virtually pain free (knock on wood, tap tap).I can't wait to get home and do my first post op weigh in. We went shopping today and it was the first time in almost a year that it didnt feel like I had a knife going through my right foot. I cant believe I feel a difference so fast but I do.

I just had my daughter take my "before" pics.... omg I can't believe I let it get this bad.... denial is a terrible thing. I can't wait until Monday to start my journey!!!

I am actually sitting in a hotel in Mexico recovering from my sleeve surgery. I chose to come here because of price. I am sel pay. For 6 months prior I have researched everything I possibly could and was lucky enough to know many people who had gone through the same medical group as me. If I had to do this "blindly" I dont know if I would have. Word of mouth is extremely important when you are considering going out of country. -
I went with the sleeve because it is less invasive and has excellent weight loss results. With a bypass you loss the ability to absorb nutrients and can become malnourished. With the sleeve you can digest food like before and you dont often getting "dumping" from the sleeve. As for diabetes I think that any weight loss is good for reversing diabetes. I am one day post op from my sleeve and am feeling great.
