Joni - for me, since I'm eating less food, I don't mind spending a little more on "quality" foods. After all, I'm worth it Also, I think that's a part of the reason my energy is so good. Now, if I could just get these massive hot flashes to settle down . . . .

So glad to hear everything is a GO! Be prepared for the pre-op diet. To me, the first 3 days was the worst of this whole process! If I can do it, anyone can . . . . not easy, but I did it, and it helped set the mindset that I needed to get through the recovery process. Best of luck, and keep us posted!

BTW - How's your headache?

Vicki - You are going to be fine! You will go to sleep and wake up sleeved. It's an amazing experience. It's not easy, by any means, but the reward is sooooo worth it! Being scared, anxious, nervous, is very normal. We all felt that way. Yes, there is a small risk with any surgery, but by far, the majority do just fine . . . and I believe you are one of the majority!

I use eggface's website all the time! She's amazing.
I think I'll adopt you as my sister! I've never had one. So Sis, how are you feeling today? I noticed that you were online about as much as me

I think maybe it's just your whole system going "whacko" because of all the changes it's undergone recently. Also, you might want to think about a shoe store that can help fit a pair of new sneakers. Yes, they're a bit expensive, but wholly worth it when you walk as much as you do. BTW - I really enjoy the way you view things! = HUGS!!

BTW - There's a thread on this website called "insurance & financing" - you might look through that to see if there's any help there.

Have you checked with the Doctor's in mexico? There's a thread on this website that discusses the Doctors. They can do the surgeries so much cheaper there. AND, they're very experienced.

My headache didn't start until AFTER the surgery. I think the anesthetist had a cocktail mixture that I didn't handle well. Mine lasted 3 whole days. Could it be caffeine withdrawal? You need to mention it to your surgeon prior to surgery though, just so he/she is aware.

I'm a March Sleever (3/22), but my Surgeon told me to consume between 50-70 grams of protein a day. As for working out, I was told to just walk for the first 3 weeks. After that I could start adding other exercises - but to stay away from any weight lifting until my next appointment (next week). Right now all I do is walk 2.5 miles 3x's a week, and some beginner Yoga. I also have a NUT that I am required to work with - she call's me weekly - and we discuss issues, concerns, and next steps. If you don't have one, I would highly recommend one that is familiar with the sleeve.

I am soooo sorry for the issues that you're having! I will keep you in my prayers! Please keep us updated on your progress.

"Lord, grant me the patience . . . . " LOL! Your blog is great!!

Bless your heart sweetie! You have been though quite a bit! Have you thought about SF Popsicle's? They might help with the teeth too.

I will add you to my prayers! I had an Xray taken of my left hip, and they saw "something" and I had to wait 2 weeks before they could get me in for a CT. Found out it was nothing.

I don't really "measure" food per say. For instance, for breakfast I ate a yogurt and it satisfied me until lunch. For lunch I ate a 2.6oz packet of tuna mixed with 1 tablespoon of mayo, and it satisfied me. For dinner I had 6 slices of super thin deli turkey meat with 1 wedge of laughing cow cheese. That all satisfied me completely. In fact the dinner meal even made me feel just a "tad" off, which usually happens when I eat a bite too much. I don't get nauseous like some folks, just feel a bit off. Of course I drank lots and lots of water between meals. That's about as close as I come to measuring my food.
BTW- how are you feeling?

Isn't admitting it the first step??? LOL!!!

I stopped my daily weighing by my 3rd week because I realized I was obsessing about it. So now, I only weigh on Fridays. I'll do a weekly weigh-in with you! Sign me up!!

My taste buds changed DRAMATICALLY once I got the surgery. I no longer have any interest in sweets, or especially Potato Chips. I don't crave ANYTHING, and have to make myself eat. I have had only 1-2 days where I couldn't seem to get full, but finally figured out that it was because I didn't get my protein in those days. Enjoy this change, there's a whole new world of healthy eating ahead of you.

Really good observations! Being 50, I can remember the model "Twiggy". She was the "be all" in how girls in my school wanted to look. Later, we learned she was a drug addict! I still see models today who are so thin it's scary! My oldest daughter is 27, 5'7" and weighs 130lbs. She still thinks she needs to lose about 5 more pounds! She wears a size 6! This is what the media can do if we as parents don't pay attention to what our kids are seeing.

Congratulations on your decision, and your surgery. I look forward to more of your blogs.
