  1. I agree that slower definitely helps. I just get frustrated at how my food gets dried out because I have to reheat the small portions because i take so long.

  3. This journey is quite amazing so far!!
  4. Added u on MFP. Like today I had a boiled egg for breakfast. 1/4 cup homemade tuna salad made with Greek plain yogurt and I haven't had dinner yet. Then I usually throw in 1-2 protein shakes somewhere during the day depending on how much I am lacking on protein grams. But then again, I'm still on soft stuff too.

Yes that you can scan barcodes on items and not have to search for the names of them.

  7. Sleeverella, I know what you mean. I was only in hospital a day but even when coming home I was on clear liquids almost a week and a half. The to full liquids and last week mushies. I have lost a total of 17 pounds since surgery (21 days) I think my expectations were a little too large. I have not been cleared for any exercise yet but I do walk daily. I use myfitnssspal as well buy not sure what to set my calories at yet. Going to discuss that with my nutritionist when I see her know the 24th. Seems like I stay around 600-700 with what I am eating now. How about you?
  8. I was sleeved on march 26th and I thought I was the only one having difficulty with this. Sometimes I feel full all the time and don't want to eat at all but force myself at mealtime. Then other times when I sit down and think I should only be able to eat 2 ounces of yogurt I can eat 4 or 5 ounces with no problem. I feel like I have not learned my new stomach yet and right now I am just playing a guessing game. So what I have been doing is just setting a schedule and measuring everything and staying under 4 ounces since that is supposed to be the capacity of my new tummy and keeping my fingers crossed that I will learn the new tummy in time.

    My Sleeve Is Saving Me

That is amazing that you have gotten past the emotional side of food. That is such a hurdle to get past. That is something for you to be so proud of. A definite NSV!! My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.
  10. Ok, I was sleeved on 3/26 so I'm a little over 2 weeks out. I started my purees this past monday and I'm still taking in small bites and waiting between bites and my stomach is making the weirdest loud noises I have ever heard!! Is this something that will stop once I get through the food stages? Just planning ahead on when I should be able to eat around my extended family without embarrassment lol.
  11. How long did it take for yours to quiet down
  12. Yes!!! I thought it was just me lol
  13. I know how you feel. I was sleeved on 3/26 and mine was supposed to be at 10am and I got taken back at 3pm. I was a bundle of nerves. Soon you will be all done and on your way to recovery and a.small tummy!! Good luck!

I have BC/BS of LA. My OOP was to meet our deductible and then the hospital estimated their charges (facility charges only -- 48,000) but my ins pays 80% and has a maximum OOP of 1000 for me. I have not received any bills as of yet but will send updates on that in the near future.

Yes I know what you mean. I am never hungry. I do experience what people on here call "head hunger" but nothing I haven't been able to muddle through. I love my sleeve so far. I have never been able to diet successfully without feeling like I'm starving all the time so this is a new and exciting change. I will send you a private message with my name and cell number. Feel free to call or text me anytime with any questions or just if you need someone to talk to. I will warn you that I went through a mild regret phase right after surgery and the next morning because of the pain but that is normal. Just remember that each day you will feel better and better.

No endoscopy for me either. I had pre-op labs twice. The first to check for a bacteria in the stomach (they do it on everyone before scheduling the surgery) and the second time when I had to register for the hospital the week before surgery. Yes the hospital scheduling department called me and said I had to pay all of my out of pocket expenses before surgery. Then when I got there the morning of surgery they tried to say I didn't pay the amount so I had to wait for everything to be verified before being sent to pre-op. Was somewhat frustrating but worked out pretty timely. Yes I know what you mean about dr monk. It took me forever to get into her, like she has no concept of time, that's all I was waiting on also and then she rescheduled me twice and then it took almost 3 weeks for her to get her report finished so they could send my final authorization to my insurance. So yes, I know what you mean. As far as hernias, I've never had one but that is one question you should write down to take to your final pre-op appointment with him. I found that a list of questions I kept with me all the time was helpful so I wouldn't forget to ask anything. The part I hated was the catheter. And I was a little leary of the drain but as soon as you get up and can walk they will take the catheter out which was a relief. The drain stayed in for 8 days. Dr Schrapps usually does this with all his patients, I'm not sure about Dean. Its a little cumbersome when dressing and showering but nothing too difficult.

True. Lauren,Amy and Kim are great with any questions I wasn't a fan of Dr. Monk the psych evaluate dr though. Very dry sense of humor to say the least. Glad I passed on the first evaluation lol

Mommy794... I agree with u on dr schrapps. Straightforward but a kind person. I prefer the straightforwardness myself and how he speaks to his patients in normal English, not physician, technical language. He has answered my questions I have had and taken time to explain things. I love that.

Well I really have no complaints at all! The staff at the hospital were great. I was on the 5th floor. My surgery lasted about 70 minutes from what my family tells me lol. I only have 7 small incisions and they are healing up great. When I started this journey I was 298. I weighed in at the hospital before surgery at 277 and when I went in to have my drain removed 8 days later in the office I weighed in at 268. I am trying to only weigh once a week on Mondays so I will have to let you know tomorrow when I get on the scale. The most important thing I can tell you is follow his instructions. The person before me didn't and she was in surgery over three hours I think. I had surgery on a Monday and was discharged on Tuesday around 5pm. Tomorrow i am starting my puree stage. I can eat about 2 oz. of pudding, soup, jello, etc. right now. What else would you like to know. I am an open book so ask away lol

Yes! I had mine done at st Elizabeth in Beaumont by Dr. Schrapps on March 26.
  23. I live in southeast Texas and was sleeved on 3/26/12. Starting pureed this coming Monday and would like to find someone to ask questions to because other than my surgeon I feel alone -- especially in this house full of constant eaters!! I never realized how much my DH and sons eat before and they have no problem eating all this food in front of me and not thinking twice. Not that I want it, im not hungry but a little consideration would be nice. I know weird emotions like this are normal and I am trying not to let it effect my mood but its hard . Any suggestions?
  24. Someone help!! Lol I'm on day 6 after sleeve surgery and will be starting full liquids tomorrow but I am craving ice cream or something similar. Popsicles just aren't cutting it. Any suggestions.......
