Protein And Liquids
atkinsoncl replied to atkinsoncl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use unjury unflavored and it says that you can in warm beverages under 130 degrees. I'm not sure abot the other kinds of unflavored protein, but this one works. I mixed my chocolate unjury in my coffee and did not clump. -
Protein And Liquids
atkinsoncl replied to atkinsoncl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Kat!! I didn't even think of the unflavored protein. I tried some cream of wheat this morning, made with milk. But I'm not even sure how much protein I had because I didn't measure. I'm figuring 5 grams. I'm going to have a shake for lunch. Then maybe I'll add the unflavored protein to my soup for dinner. I am also going to try to the ready-to-drink Protein drinks. Thanks for your help! Courtney -

Sourrounded By So Much Negativity.....starting To Second Guess Myself...
atkinsoncl replied to Jen K's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow, that's a tough situation you are in. I'm sorry you have to go through all this negativity so close to your surgery date. Everyone was very supportive of me, but had some issues. My husband was supportive, but did try to talk me out of it a few days before my surgery. My daughter, who is 8, didn't want me to have it because she was scared. I have to admit. I think I was my own worst enemy in this one. I was second guessing the surgery and wasn't sure if I should go through with it. However, I knew this is what I wanted and needed. I was completely prepared, but just scared. I'm so glad I went through with it. I am 5 days post-op and my daughter is still mad it me. I figured that in time she will realize all the benefits that the surgery has made in me. I wish you all the best! -
Yay!! I will be thinking of you tomorrow. Best of luck to you and please keep us updated on your recovery!

Best of luck to you, PonyUp! Hope your cold will not interefere. Take good care and update us when you can! -
Oh no, I hope you get the answer you are looking for. Unfortunately, I can't help you much, but I do know that it is up to your employer to add weight loss surgery to your benefit plan. I can't see why it would take up to two months if you have the benefits now. I agree, keep calling. Good luck!! Hope you find out soon!

How Nauseas Were You The First 2 Weeks?
atkinsoncl replied to AngieG0410's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only had it for about 24-36 hours. I heard this is one of the biggest complaints after surgery. I didn't have it long, nor did I have the painful gas. Everyone's body reacts differently. Good luck to you!! -

Glad you are feeling well. I am on day 4 postop and my right side of my stomach is sore, but that's about it. I also went off pain meds. I'm so glad i did!! They wanted to give me tylenol with codine, but can't take it because of the nausea. So I just bought some children's tylenol (liquid). I used it once and that was it. I don't feel I need it. -
6 Days Out And Pain
atkinsoncl replied to rodswife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I, too, need to burp after every sip of liquids. I can feel it working it's way up. I am only 3 days postop. I will definately need to learn how to do it quieter, but right now since I am at home, I just let it go. It also helps with the gas from surgery also. -

Time Of The Month During Your Surgery?

My period came yesterday, two days after surgery. Last month it came late, so I though I was in the clear. Since the stress of surgery, it decided to come two week early. -

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
atkinsoncl replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Everybody, Just wanted to let every one know how things went. Wednesday, I got to the hospital at 8 a.m. to get prepped for surgery. They did a pregnancy test, blood sugar test, and started the IV. I met with some people operating nurse, ansteologist, etc., then the surgeon came in to get me. I had a complete break-down, but they were good about that. Had me laughing in about 5 minutes. Then I was out, don't remember anything until I woke up in the recovery room and I was very sick. My husband couldn't even come back to see me. So they gave me some meds and wheeled me up to my room. I slept the entire day and night. I woke up around 6 a.m. the next morning. The next morning, they did the leak test, YUK!! That stuff they make you swallow is disgusting. Anyway, my leak test came back good. They removed the cathetor and allowed me to drink. Water makes me very nauseated and gives me the dry heaves. So I have been staying away from water. Then I got released from the hospital around 5 p.m. yesterday. When I got home yesterday, I went straight to bed until this morning. Today, I am feeling better. Having a bit more energy and I drank about 10 ounces of fluids today. I really don't have the gas pains that others are experiencing. I will get a little one, but then it will go away quickly. I do feel the gas moving around in there and my stomach is very bloated. I do feel nausea every once in a while, but that seems to be less now. I walk around and even took a shower today. I'm looking forward to the healing process. My main goal is to keep pushing fluids. -
Wow, this is becoming really real for me now. Had my preadmissions testing in the hospital and met with anestheoligst(sp?). I needed a chext x-ray, EKG, and blood work. They also told me all about what they will do presurgery. My nerves are definately starting to kick it. However, I am still 110% optimistic. Day 3 of my preop diet now. Day 1 & 2 went really well, but today I have that nagging diet Headache that I usually always get when changing my eating habits. How's everybody else doing today?

Hi, Surgery scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow morning. Need to be at hospital at 8 am. My excitment is starting to rise! -
Love it!!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one worried about the little things. The hospital called this afternoon and I asked her again just to be sure. Thank you, I will update when I get home on Thursday. I cannot bring any electronics to hospital.
