I'm so glad to hear from you and hear how you are doing. Wow, just noticed how much weight you have lost . . . good for you! Congrats on that!! Sorry to hear about your side, maybe it's part of the healing process. Things are going good for me. Excited to start the puree stage, which should be next week.
-
Oh congrats on your weight loss success, awesome!!
-
That sounds really good! Do you puree that since you are only 3 weeks out? I love hot sauce. I think i will try that in my blender when I can eat purees . . . next week, yay!!

I did good on the preop diet. If is was going help with surgery, I was sticking with it 100%. I lost about 8-9 lbs on the preop diet. However, I didn't have to do a liquid diet. Not sure what kind you are on. I did a lowfat Atkins diet. I hope the headaches went away. I had one on day three, then nothing else. Hang in there! Remember what you are doing this for! Good luck!

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

Hope you feel better soon! Sending hugs and well wishes your way! -
Thank you! Everything went well wit my surgery. No complications and it was actually took him an hour less than I was scheduled for. After the surgery was over (around 1:15), they put me on so many meds that I was basically out until about 6 a.m. the next morning. Since I slept so much, I didn't think I would be able to be discharged, but then I started to feel better. Getting up was a chore, but I could walk and keep fluids down so I was able to go home that day. Your emotions are completely normal. I went through every emotion there was. I even cried when they came to get me to take me to the operating room. Then I don't remember anything. Before I was released, I had to do a leak test. After that came back normal, I was able to eat. For the first 5 day, I only had Clear liquids. broth, sugar free popsicles, clear Protein drinks, a little Jello, and I was able to drink my Water. The first day preop, I could not drink water . . . made me sick. Now, I am on the full liquids stage. I have added greek yogurt, cream Soups (strained), sugar free pudding, Protein shakes. I need to get in 50 grams of protein and 64 oz of liquid. I am having no problem meeting that. I am tracking all my Fluid and calories on SparkPeople.com. The first day, I only got in about 300 calories, now I am around 550. Puree stage starts next week and hopefully so do my Vitamins because I have no energy. All in all, I feel great! The only complaint is my energy level. I only had nausea for about 24-36 hours and really didn't experience the really bad gas pains. Anything else that you need, please don't hesitate to ask. I know how you are feeling trust me . . . just trying to be prepared as possible. You are going to do wonderful!!

I hope things get better for you quickly!! Sending hugs your way! -
ShapeShifter, Oh yes, the wonderful world of Weight Watchers on-line. I found that too so much time because you needed to figure out your own points, etc. SparkPeople has a huge dictionary of food programmed in. I just need to know how much I ate/drank and it figures everything out for me. Fitbit sounds great! I'm going to consider purchasing one soon. I am 7 days postop today. I moving, but not like heavy walking moving. Maybe once I get cleared to do that, I will invest in one. Thanks!!

Yes, myfitnesspal was another recommendation. How do you like your fitbit? I have been looking into them lately.
-
I joined one called www.sparkpeople.com. Check it out! It's free and seems to be what you are looking for. This is a site my nutrionist recommended.

Best of luck!! Wish you all a successful journey. Please keep us posted.

I was also given a preop diet to follow in order to shrink my liver. I was on a lowfat atkins diet. If that's basically how you are eating now, I would say you are good to go. Best of luck on the surgery! Please keep us posted!

Wonderful news! Congratulations!!

Wife Is Being Really Negative
atkinsoncl replied to jared's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
As a quote from my weight loss surgeon, "the band isn't as safe as people think it is and bypass/sleeve isn't as scary as people think it is." I originally was going for the band, until my surgeon said that to me. I did my research and decided the band was definately the wrong way for me to go. You can find success stories with the lap band, but there are not that many and I don't believe the band can stay in you forever, like they say it can. My husband was fine with me having the band. He didn't know of the complications that can happen. When my surgeon and I switched the surgery to the sleeve, I didn't tell him until about 3 days prior to surgery because I knew he didn't want me to get cut. He had a little bit of a meltdown until I explained everything to him and then he was okay. Good luck!! Show your wife the statistics . . . maybe that will help. -
Trust me . . . all your feelings are perfectly normal. I just had surgery last week and I was a complete mess. Like you, I was great going through all the requirements and was sure I was going to be denied. I got the approval phone call and I was jumping for joy . . . then a few days later I thought, what in the world am I doing. It was a very tough rollercoaster of emotions for me. I wasn't going to allow myself to give up on the surgery. I knew that there was no way I was going to be able to do it on my own. I have two children, 4 and 8. The best thing I could give them for their future was a healthy mom. I had no comorbilities, but some blood work showed that things were not in a good place and pretty soon I would have problems. The benefits definately outweigh the risks. There is always a risk with surgery, but weight loss surgery is becoming a very common surgery. I figure it's probably like getting your appendix or gall bladder removed. You should check on your surgeons statistics, if that would make you feel better. I checked on mine and their were no fatalities. Then I asked the xray tech if she's ever seen a leak, she said she had seen leaks with bypass, but has not seen one with the sleeve yet. When the surgeon came to get me for surgery, I had a breakdown. He reassured me that everything was going to be just fine. Then before I knew it, I was waking up in the recovery room. I remember thinking to myself, "phew, it's over and I'm going to be just fine." Good luck and let me know if you ever want to chat more. Courtney

Hi All, Just have a quick question . . . I just started my full liquid diet today. I'm supposed to get in 64 oz of Fluid and try to get in 50 grams of Protein. I am don't know how I am supposed to do that. So far, I had about 1/2 cup greek yogurt (7 grams protein), and approximately 20 oz of fluids. If I do a Protein shake with milk, can my milk count towards my fluid intake? Thanks for your help! Courtney

Protein And Liquids
atkinsoncl replied to atkinsoncl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay, I went to GNC and did really good there. I bought the Isopure with 40 grams of protein to try. I thought I would just sip that throughout the day. Then they gave me a sample of GNC Total Lean Shakes that were already premixed . . . oh my gosh, they were so yummy! I got of few boxes of the vanilla and the strawberry (they were buy one get one, get one 50% off). I have unjury chocolate that I need to finish, but once that's gone I'm definately getting the chocolate GNC brand. Yum, yum, yum . . . I was never so excited about a protein drink before. -
