My nut told me that if I needed a small sip with a meal it is okay. I just can't take a big drink while I eat. I will take a little sip after I am done eating.

How Fast Did You Drop Sizes?
atkinsoncl replied to jaymzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 26 lbs so far and I haven't dropped a size yet. I think the clothes that I wore were tight because I was always stretching my shirts out to fit. With that said, those clothes now fit without having to stretch and I can dry most of my stuff now. -
Enjoy! Going to eat the leftovers today.

Hi! Just wanted to pass this recipe on. Made this tonight and it is very good, even my kids liked it. I omitted the celery because I cannot eat that yet. It's a great soft food and goes down easy. http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/recipefinder/healthy-makeover-meatloaf-ghk1107

Insurance Denial For Gaining Weight?
atkinsoncl replied to NisaletOAM's topic in Insurance & Financing
My insurance specifically stated that if I gained weight, I could get denied. However, I did gain 4 lbs, but still was approved. My situation was a little difficult because I was exactly 40 BMI when I went for my first surgeon's visit. I couldn't lose weight, but couldn't gain either. I tried my best to maintain. If I was over 50 BMI, they required a 5% weight loss. Your insurance should have more details for you. Have you gained weight? Good luck! -
Going to try this turkey meatball recipe for dinner tonight! Yum!!http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/recipefinder/healthy-makeover-meatloaf-ghk1107

Thinking I Am Just To Nervous To Go Through With The Surgery :(
atkinsoncl replied to Izzysnanny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 4/4. I completely went through the same emotions you are going through. It is very common. I actually thought about backing out when I was doing my preop diet. When I was going through all the preop classes, I was 100% certain this is what I wanted to do. As the time got closer to surgery, I thought about cancelling it. Then I had to try to reconvince myself that this will be good for me. I went through with the surgery, even though I had a complete breakdown going into the operating room. Can there be complications, sure, all surgeries have a risk of complications. BUT, the risks are not as great as being obese. In the end, I'm three weeks postop today and have lost 25 lbs. All in all, I am happy I decided to stick with it. This is your decision and only you can make it. We are here to support you in whatever you decide. Good luck and please keep us posted! -
Questions, Please Help!
atkinsoncl replied to Yunbug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Getting enough fluids is essential You need to get in 64 oz of fluid daily. As for protein drinks, I know it can be tough. I am drinking the Unjury Chocolate Splendor with 1% milk. Total it is 28 grams protein. I mix it in the blender with ice and sometimes 1/2 of a banana or a little peanut butter and it's pretty tasty. Right now, I'm supposed to be consuming 60-70 grams of protein. I can get all my protein in with use of one shake a day. There is no way I can get all the protein in without it. Good luck! Protein and fluids are really important. -
I have always weighed my meats.

Newbie Alert! Is This Thing On?
atkinsoncl replied to mellifluousmp's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You look awesome! Can't believe the difference in your stomach!! Wow!! Congrats!! -
Wow, it's just a couple days away! I'm so glad your headaches are improving. It's amazing what a healthy diet can do for us. Are you excited? Please keep me posted on how you are. I'm doing well. Feel great!! I will be three weeks out on Wednesday. I had my preop appt and I can basically skip the pureed stage. So I just started a little of the soft foods. Taste so good. Barbeque chicken in the crockpot. The next thing I want to do is make turkey meatballs so I can freeze them. Oh, I made the ricotta bake and that was so good!

It's going really well. Hit my first stall, but not worried about it. I know my body needs to play catch-up. Ate my first bite too many yesterday. Had a scrambled egg and ate it all, then I topped it off with my Vitamin. That was too much for me too handle. I can't believe how much pain it caused. It only lasted a minute, but that was long enough. Hope you are doing well.

Did You Quit Coffee? If So, How?
atkinsoncl replied to feszyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drank coffee preop. That was something that I wasn't ready to give up until I had to. I am allowed two caffinated beverages a day. I was so excited, since I could not imagine not having my coffee. I decided to try a small cup and it did not agree with me. Not only did it send me running to the bathroom, it also didn't taste good anymore. No more coffee for me. -
Hi! Looking for a sleeve buddy. Is anyone getting sleeved around April 4?

atkinsoncl replied to atkinsoncl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your sleeve date! My sleeve didn't have any trouble with cold liquids at all. The first day postop, I could not tolerate Water, but the 2nd day had no problem. I did not put ice in the beverages, but kept them in the fridge. -

April 4 Sleeve Buddy
atkinsoncl replied to atkinsoncl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! I too was extremely tired with no energy. I was beginning to get a bit worried, then one day I woke up and it was back. I still get tired more easy, but that will work itself out eventually. -

atkinsoncl replied to atkinsoncl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, good for you!! Congrats on your success! I'm doing very well. Feel back to myself and 0% pain. I was sleeved on April 4 and down 24 lbs since preop diet. I am on puree/soft food right now. Trying to get my protein in with foods, but it doesn't work. So, I need to drink one shake a day. Trying to experiment with the shakes to mix it up a bit.
