Hi, My surgery date is scheduled for April 4. I don't know how to get over the aspect of hairloss. That's a tough one. The only thing I am able to do is mentally prepare myself that this might happen. I have talked to my hairdresser and he said we can always do extensions or hair clips if it would happen. Plus, it grows back. You really seem torn on what to do. It it a big step to take. I, myself, am just sick of the yoyo dieting. I lost 100 pounds on Weight Watchers, but put it all back on. I can do a diet, but can't stick to it. That's my problem. So I just need to go a little further and have the extra tool of "the sleeve." Really, really take your time and do what research you need. You don't want to regret your decision. Good luck! I hope you find the answers you are looking for. This is an awesome site. Oh, one last thing . . . double check with your insurance first to make sure they cover and their requirements. I had to be at least 35 BMI with one comortality or 40 BMI with no comortalities. Hi Laura, Wow, April 1 is coming up fast! Are you on preop diet? Mine is April 4. I feel all I do is sit on the computer and read to prepare for everything because my nerves are starting to kick in a little bit, but in a good way . Congrats on your upcoming surgery!! Courtney

That exact same thing happened to me. I was tentatively schedule for April 4 and my preop diet was about to start. I was calling the insurance company for a week and they said they haven't received anything. On Monday (of this week), I called my surgeon's office. Tuesday the surgery coordinator called back that morning telling me everything was in and they had it. She said that sometimes it's not noted in the system until it is up for review. On that same day, two hours later, I received a call that I was approved. The next day is when my preop diet started. Good luck!! Hang in there!!

There is going to be a lot of anxiety going on until my surgery date. Yesterday, I started my diet and I was supposed to eat 1000 calories. Well, at the end of the day, I only ate 680. It's just my nerves! I want to be so good on this preop diet to make everything easier for my surgeon, that I'm afraid to eat anything.

Oh no, that stinks ! My immediate family members know that I am getting the surgery, but I have told anyone else (other than my hairdresser). You may want to try to find someone else for support. It may be hard to do it alone, but I'm sure it has been done before. Will your husband be home to drive you home from the hospital?

I think your feelings are prefectly normal. Especially, since you are having a revision surgery (I'm assuming you haven't had much luck with the band). You will do great!! Good luck and keep us posted!!

Okay, everyone I think I am going to start an April 2012 sleeve group and invite you all to be in it, and anyone else who will be sleeved in April can join for that extra added support. I will do this in the next day or two. I looked into it and you need at least five people to create a group, we have way more than that.

Good for you! I know it's hard to quit smoking, but it's so worth it. I quit last June. The second day was the hardest. Now, I can't even stand the smell of it. Good luck!! You can do it!

I just ended my first day and did good, although it is only the first day and I'm sure it gets harder! I figure this as part of the surgery and I want to make my surgery as less complicated as possible. I kept calorie count in sparkpeople. I got all my Water in, so I have been in the ladies room alot. We just have to remember our goal in the long run. We got this . . . we can do it together .

Congrats to you!! Yes, definatley both feeling for me too. I'm so excited, but nervous. I got my phone call yesterday . . . it was so exciting. I started my preop diet today and keep thinking to myself, wow, in two weeks. I couldn't sleep last night because I'm so excited. I am trying different Protein shakes and bought my Vitamins yesterday. Seems so final after the phone, doesn't it?

I also ordered my vitamins from unjury. Shipping is $5, can't beat it. Yes, I have seen the syntax nectar. Maybe I'll order those too. I added the chocolate Protein to my coffee this morning and it was good. It is sweet though. But I don't mind my stuff sweet

I just talked to my hairdresser. Haven't had surgery yet, but am concerend with hairloss after. He told me about Aveda Invati. He says your hair can just break off and this helps prevents breakage. I did some research and it seem some people are using this after bariatric surgery. I'm not promising anything, but it may work. Good lucki!

I will be on a low-fat atkins diet for two weeks. My surgeon requires this to all his patients regardless of BMI to shrink your liver.

I ordered them from unjury.com. I got 2 vanilla, 2 chocolate, 2 unflavored, 2 chicken Soup, a food thermomater and a shaker. I'm going to start trying them tomorrow. My cousin had bypass and she loved the chicken soup. Yay, congrats!!

Hi SkinnyMom2b, My diet starts tomorrow. I'm ready!! Got my Protein samples in the mail, so I will be trying them with different drink recipes. I want to get the Isopure clear drinks. I've heard that more people like them as compared to others. Just ordered all my Vitamins today. It is exciting, isn't it!!

That's great! Welcome to the group! I love this site. I find myself on here multiple times a day. I was originally going to get the band because my insurance didn't cover the sleeve. I was very fortunate that during my three month program, my insurance changed and started covering the sleeve in Jan. The sleeve was my first pick...I knew it was the right decision.

Randi, Yes, I definatley feel like that. Especially when I sit, I feel so uncomfortable and feels like my belly keeps hanging out more and more each second. This past week I have really felt like that!! Or if I walk past a mirrored wall at the mall or something, I get a glimpse of myself and think, really?? that's what I look like. Can't wait to get to the point when I look in the mirror for something other than looking at only myself from neck & up.
