    March Bandsters!

how long did you have to fly to get to Mexico?? i was considering going there if i couldnt get treatment here. i live in Aust. What about your follow ups with fills etc?? do you have a clinic nearer you ?? or do you have to fly to mexico for your fills?? im really interested to know . Flying interstate is probably more expensive here than it is there.

    Extra Skin Question

Apart from doing exercises i dont know what you can do.. thats something that i dont want to happen either and im a lot older than you are.. lol. let us know if you find something else to do that will help you.
  3. ii wonder if your sugar levels are just a little lower that time of day?? im no expert but i know what low sugar levels do to me. At least it goes when you eat breakfast. it does sound like you are low.

    Gonna Be Banded In March:-)

more on this.. sorry.. lol. i agree about the dr and staff making doubly sure before surgery. it is comforting to know that they are being entirely professional . thats for my benefit in the long run. im wondering what they can do to stop me vomiting in the early stages after surgery. thats been a biggie the last few surgeries ive had.

    Gonna Be Banded In March:-)

hi there didixo... what a wonderful effort, giving up the cigs like that. you will do it. ive been there many years ago, and havent looked back at all. i agree that exercise is great to help alleviate stress. its hard for me to do any extra walking at the moment. im waiting for healing post op so i can start swimming again. but, i can sit and have a quiet time every day. i do know how to still my thoughts and emotions by doing that. ive been so distracted lately that i havent been doing that. im so pleased to hear how well the yoga agrees with you. keep it up.

    March Bandsters!

i guess the over riding issue is that the stomach heals enough... that would come first. i know my dr said that he wasnt overly concerned about how much i could drink, so long as i was hydrated. thats for the first few days.

so your oxygen sats are down?? can i ask?? how old are you?? it shoudnt be happening. Thats great you are doing well with the surgery ... way to go.

    March Bandsters!

..Depends on your history... if you have been completely successful in keeping the weight off then you dont need the band. i guess it all depends on what sort of weight gain you have had inbetween. if you are still ahead with weight loss and dont have any other health issues that are affected by your weight then maybe you be quite good without the band. but, your dr wouldnt have agreed to the surgery if he didnt think that it would help you, would he?? Everyone of us here has had those nagging thoughts one way or another. i think its because we are walking through a door and shutting it behind us ?? anyway, you have done really well in losing so far. im sure you will do well with the surgery . im having doubts sometimes myself. i need to stop and be realistic though about my health needs right now... and not try and talk myself out of having it done. im being done in 9 days. No pre op diet.

    March Bandsters!

so you dont think you could have managed the two eggs at one time?? did you go back later and finish them? i know that 2 eggs can be rather filling at times for me.so you forgot to add milk?? lol. you did a good job to get them down then. lol. i must remember to get some powdered low fat milk so i can scramble some when the time comes. you didnt add anything else to them at all?/ i used to cook eggs scrambled in the microwave. i would just stir the raw egg in a pudding bowl, add some pepper and cook for a short period of time. they were more chewy that way than doing them in a pot. i think that doing them in the pot is easier on the stomach.powdered low fat milk is wonderful with scrambled eggs. the two go really well together.

    March Bandsters!

i hear you... yes, thats most important, to stay focused. you know?? ive had nearly 20 surgeries since i was 15 on my legs, all bone surgeries. ive gotten over them all, its taken up to a year sometimes but in the end i was ''normal'' again. with this though, its a total life change. no going back, so to speak. know what i mean?/ so as big as the bone surgeries were, they really were nothing in comparison to this one. even with all the surgeries ive had im stepping out now into unknown territory. i need the adrenalin to start pumping again, lol, i always loved a challange. this sure is going to be one. Thanks so much for your support.. and that goes for everyone here. i do appreciate it so much . i couldnt do this without support from this forum, thats for sure.

thats fantastic Dellaland... was that just family or was it others as well?/ what was your BMI when you started out?? i agree with you... it will be wonderful to privately stick my thumb up in the air at the negative wor... lol.. and see their faces as i lose weight.

    March Bandsters!

Yvonne.. thanks for this. i hear what yo uare saying.. so you have had negative comments made to you?? was it professional people who made those remarks to you?? or others?? anyway, whoever it was, you have the right attitude. Yes, if we give it 110 percent we will be able to stand and say'' we have done all we can do'.. and thats the most important thing of all. i guess with most of us its the confidence level as well, which is damaged a lot through being overweight and unwell. i know how much mine has eroded over the years through weight. im starting to wonder too how much my husband understands about the entire process. he tends to shut off sometimes ... sheer habit, no offense intended by him im sure, but he does. i see it happening. well, when ive been talking about it and trying to explain i dont think he ''got it''. this morning when i was talking about the fills and how it works to keep in the green zone, his eyes opened up and he said..'' how often does this fill thing go on?/ for the rest of your life? "" .. and i could see that he was wondering if he was in for a ride he didnt want to go on. lol. anyway, its happening, its going to be very successful and i know we will look back and say..." what were we concerned about?? '' lol. i will be glad when im through the immediate post op stage and on my way. what about you?/ How much would you like to lose?? ive forgotten, sorry ... i need to lose up to 90 lbs.

    March Bandsters!

thanks.. im up and down like a yo yo.. cant help feeling guilty about having to have it done.. so many surgeries over the years and...' yep.. she's in for another one..'' i wish others could walk a mile in my shoes. one minute im excited the next down in the dumps over it all. not feeling all that confident that the weight is going to come off.. theres so much swinging on it all.

..how absolutely marvellous. i hope that im the same. thats so exciting. way to go.

    March Bandsters!

its really good to hear how well you are doing. so you had a hernia as well?? it seems that most patients do have one. yes, heres to feeling better tomorrow.. im sure you will. keep us informed about your progress and what you are managing to eat etc.
  23. JUDYCH1946

    March Bandsters!

i have the same issues ... what to say about the op when i dont want to share what im having done. i just said that i was having a hernia fixed. that simple. also, because i have bad joint issues and fluctuating blood pressure, i have to lose weight, which i do. ive told family, no one else, that a dietician is onboard now as my problems are chronic. that will take care of the op.. and the weight loss afterwoods. i hate lying. this was the closest i came to telling the full story. i hope that you can just share enough without having to divulge everything. we shouldnt have to ''please explain'' to others.
  24. this is what id like to know as well.. i have issues with joint pain. i did read somewhere that the gas that causes some issues afterwoods can also cause some joint pain as well. i really need to be able to take some pain meds that are liquid. not sure what we can buy here in australia. im going to have to talk with my chemist about that one. also, i take olmetec, which is meds for hypertension. its in tablet form and it gives me mild indigestion now.. so i dont know how well its goign to go down after surgery. i have to take two tabs a day. i was thinking i would need to crush them .. does anyone else have to do this?? there must be a lot of people who have this surgery who cant swallow whole tabs.. at least in the short term after surgery. Any input for this one please?? any suggestions for liquid pain meds as well?? hugs judych

    March Bandsters!

hi there Shiki... yep, some of us really do rock. lol.. and i do have confidence in my dr. He introduced the surgery into this state years ago, he has done about 20,000 of them so far. So, i figure that he knows exactly what he is talking about. lol. regarding post op ..?? clear liquids for up to two weeks, then thicker liquids, then gradually onto more substantial foods. i cant remember exactly but thats about the same as everyone here i think. he didnt mention about protein either, but im going to introduce it to my diet anyway, liquid. Because im older i need the protein more for muscles etc etc. also, i know my metabolism is sluggish so i do need it. ive got an appointment with a nutritionalist on the 4th april so she will help me a lot. i dont have any fill at all when the band is implanted. the dr likes to work out four fills over the year, all going well. i will let you know how it all goes. good luck for you as well. its great to know that you have been so thorough researching it all. i would have gotten into it a lot more if Id known this was coming up. but, in the few weeks since ive known about having surgery ive not done too bad. lol. ive spent a lot of time on here. sending hugs judych
