Body Dysmorphia In Reverse
5DoxieMom replied to Christine1322's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can SO relate to all the above posts. I even have a couple of heavy friends who say..."I'm lucky, I carry my weight so well." And I'm thinking, "no you don't." That's what really made me think....oh, and the photos, ugh! painful! -
Made Myself A List For Stuff To Have At Home After Surgery....
5DoxieMom replied to Jlewis229's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've heard some people talk about abdominal binders....I didn't have one, but I think it would've helped. Just for some light pressure on your tummy. I overstocked up on stuff, and wish I wouldn't have wasted all the $$. It wasn't really necessary. So no need to overdo it. You're going to be up and around in no time, and be able to go out and get what you need. -
Best/favorite Scale Under $40?
5DoxieMom replied to Kiki Von Moonshine's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mine is made by Taylor. It is off a little from the doctor's, but it is consistent. It does BMI, water, etc measurements. It was 29.99, and I really like it. -
I didn't have any issues. Did my surgery outpatient. Didn't use any pain meds after night 2. I had abdominal discomfort on my left side that was alleviated with a heating pad. I did walk hunched over for 3 days. I even drove for 10 hours 4 days after my surgery. I followed my lifting restriction and my diet. No regrets even though I am a slow loser...31 lbs down in 3 1/2 months, 59 more to go.

I would think that if you eat too much sugar, you will gain weight. If you are craving sugar so badly, maybe you are lacking in other nutrients. You need to make sure you are getting enough protein, taking all your vitamins and getting enough water. I know for me sugar can be very addicting. Once I eat it, I want more and more.

Don't go overboard, maybe enough for a week or so. You'll be up and around before you know it. My pantry is still full of sf jello and protein powders that I couldn't choke down. Don't forget a heating pad for your belly.

Question How Long Are You Off Work After The Sleeve?
5DoxieMom replied to olivia1425's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If you have short term disability benefits available, I would say take as much time as you can. I went back to work at 10 days and was very tired. You will for sure have a lifting restriction, mine was no more than 20 lbs for 6 weeks. All the other specifics will be up to your surgeon. -
6 Weeks Out... Stalled... And No Energy
5DoxieMom replied to forever29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Forever29, 39 lbs in 6 weeks is great, that's nothing to be cranky about at all! Being tired is no fun, but your body has been through a lot. Try the sublingual B12 tabs, they're not bad. -
Day Three Post Op
5DoxieMom replied to jonamarie2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will get better. I didn't have a problem with vomiting, but I did walk hunched over for about 5 days. It was not a pretty picture. The heating pad on my belly was my best friend. Hang in there and sip like crazy. Right now your job is to get your fluids in and rest. -
Day Three Post Op
5DoxieMom replied to jonamarie2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you can't hold down water, you probably do need to go to the E.D. They can hydrate you with IV fluids. When the swelling goes down in your stomach, things will get better. Being dehydrated is nothing to be taken lightly. -
At 3 months out I started eating chia seeds...mix them in my yougurt. No adverse effects that I can tell.

When Is A Stall Really Not A Stall?
5DoxieMom replied to topgun's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I bought mine at a store called Bi-Mart, but they're only found in the northwest. I'm sure Target or Walmart would have it. -

Beware:bowel Movement Question!
5DoxieMom replied to Cobrargc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Early on, I used citrucel caplets, cut them into maybe 4 pieces for easy swallowing. Later, the caplets are no problem to swallow whole. I think citrucel is a good fiber supplement. I also like metamucil cookies, they come in 2 flavors. -
Do a search on this site to look for this topic, it has been asked often. You will find the answers to most of your questions. Of all that i've read, people are overwhelmingly happy with their sleeves.

Welcome. I wish that this surgery would have been available when I was young....it would have possibly saved decades of misery. So, you are fortunate in that regard. Best wishes and happiness in your many years of happy, healthy living...make the most of it!
